There are many life changing decisions that not only effects one’s own life, but many different aspects of your life, one such decision is joining the military. Many of the choices that pertain to this decision can have many different effects to not only yourself, but those around you. Joining the military really requires some forethought, for example, which branch you choose to join may determine certain benefits or paths that could be taken, or if you are in the military just for school, or do you wish to partake in the career path, and last but not least, how will enlisting ultimately effect your friends and family, all of the effects must be thoroughly researched and mulled over before making your choice. If the career path would be taken, the benefits would be greater as well as the retirement check you would get every month or so. But this leaves little time to do something else during and after your service, and therefore the skills that are learned from the job in the military must be relatable to the outside world. Such jobs and skills would be engineering fields such as communications or civil, as well as medical like surgeons and doctors, or even anything to do with business such as accounting and financing, all of these jobs and skills are offered in the military and can prove to be useful during retirement. On the other hand, many enlistee’s use the military as simply a means to help them pay for college. They sign up, do four or so years, get transferred to the reserves and then take classes of their choosing from a junior college or university near them. This allows for them to go to school cheaper than paying for it out of pocket without scholarships and to pursue a field that they hopefully love and will thrive in.
