Mandatory military services and the effect it would have on society What if we all went into the military after high school? Sure we would all be disciplined and focused and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. But we would all be the same and we wouldn’t have free choice anymore. We would all have the same military mindset. We would eat think and sleep war. I have relatives as close as my father that are in the/or were in the military. They are fun to be around at most times but they have no tolerance for mistakes. The military has great benefits like paying for college tuition or the pay check or even just staying mentally and physically strong My mom always tells me not to touch the hot stove. Well some people could think of the military of the hot stove. Some people might think that the military is only about killing even though their accusations are wrong they would be entitled to their opinion. Or some people just might not want to go through all the PT and effort that it takes to be in the military. Not all bad Going into the military isn’t all bad because you can learn all the stuff that American soldiers go through to protect America. We could learn not to take what they do lightly or for granted. Being in the military could be helpful if another country ever decided to try to invade America. No other country would want to invade a country where every man or woman that is there is trained for almost any situation. Not that many people would worry about break-ins or someone mugging them in an alley if everyone had discipline. There's no reason as to why able men and woman shouldn't be obliged to serve their country in times of warfare crisis and/or be prepared for hypothetical wartime. Not only that, but it provides a great amount of benefits, such as: physical conditioning, mental toughening and a chance to help promote equality between young men and women. There are so many immature, feeble-minded, snobbish people in the US nowadays who need to be taught a lesson or two The downsides If everyone had to go to the military there would probably be a lot more suicides because some people would not be confident that they could survive or might just not want to go especially in some military positions like front line.
Being in the military is a big responsibility and incredibly hard, but it is a very good thing to be joined in. Men that are in the army get in trouble if they sass their commanding officer or they don’t do their chores or wake up on time, so having teenage rebellious boys in the army would teach them discipline and responsibility. Most boys would learn really quickly after starting boot camp, that they are not allowed to slack off like they would at home, so after they do months of the training and after they are out fighting for their country, they will take those skills they learned home with them and their parents will most likely see a huge difference in the attitude of their
The military since the Colonial Era has been an impetus for social reform in the United States. The Revolutionary War afforded Black Americans an opportunity to escape from the toils of slavery and fight for freedom. Some Black Americans even earned their freedom by fighting for the Colonists, but still the freedom they fought for wasn’t their own. However, the military was responsible for the freedom of many slaves and some of these freed slaves became legendary soldiers like Salem Poor. His performance in battle gave credibility for future arguments about blacks being allowed to serve.
Though grueling and tedious, the rewards for hard work and studying are priceless. You leave the military with a whole new meaning of life. To be able to protect your friends, family, and country is an honor that anyone should be able to enjoy.
Not everybody is willing to risk their lives for others. I think that certain people have strength and bravery to join the army. I think some people go into the Army to better themselves because maybe they are not having a good life back at home so they have no choice but to join the Army for a better life. According to the Defense ManPower Data Center only 0.4 percent of the United States population is in the active military as a whole(Chalabi,2015). The percentage of people who are active in the Army would probably be around 0.2 percent. People who are in the Army probably feel unique because not many people want to join. As a whole I view the members to be dedicated, dependable, and look out for each other and

The article states, “We want to make sure every high school student is aware of the career and training opportunities the military has to offer—everything from being in the infantry to learning how to work on high-tech equipment or be a medical technician” (Smith and Herbert 27). High school students need to know that the military can expand their education and training beyond the high school classroom. Justin Lavargne also explains the benefits he hopes to gain from the military in the article “Militeens.” The authors of the article write, “Lavargne said he sees benefits in joining the armed services—as well as the thrill. Going to college seems good.
Many people go to war to protect our freedom from people who try to take it away. also you are not forced into the military. If you do not want to go you do not have to (again unless you get drafted in tI ame of war). Most people that go into the military are going to honor their country or they get drafted. what the military does is they protect our military so future generations can also enjoy the comfort of having freedom. Freedom plays a big part in the United States laws. laws help us stay organized as a country. If our country didn't have laws it would be chaos. Imagine if there was no laws people could murder, steal, vandalize etc. without getting in
Beginning with the cons, the military draft can take away precious time from the youth considering they are drafted so young. However, not all of them are on the younger side leaving some with families that could be corrupted if sent away. Continuing on, not all drafted soldiers are as competent as professional soldiers that went through training after they volunteered. This leads to questioning why the government should be spending more money on compulsory service. Overall, people on the opposing side of the draft believe it is one of the ways to strengthen the military that should be avoided (“List of 12 Key Pros and Cons of Military Draft”). Progressing into the pro side of things, the draft would assure national security. The country would be safer since there would be enough jobs, reducing unemployment. Not only that but being in the military is creates equality and diversity, is contributory to building character, and a great way to travel and learn new cultures. Also, politically, politicians with children who’d be included in a military draft would most likely create less of a chance for abrupt decisions in getting into war (“List of 12 Key Pros and Cons of Military Draft”). As described, one can see the difficulty in the decision that the government has on their
Some young people are not fit to be in the military. They may not run as fast or do as much and that can be bad if they are running from someone or something. They may not be able to hide or fight. If they can hide or fight then they can't get away and they can die. They may also not be fit in the mind. If that happened then they can see something and think it is something else or may hurt someone they are trying to help.
Military services often force a man to forfeit property that he would be able to keep if it wasn’t for being drafted. Usually they give it up because if they are drafted for way they won’t be around to provide upkeep for it, defend it from damage, or defend it from theft by other people. The land that they could have for the rest of their lives is being taken away from them because they are drafted to war. Military duty also makes people unavailable for jobs, and employment opportunities which could be the result of their land being taken away. If they aren’t ever around to work and make money, then there is no way that they can pay for their land they own, so eventually their land gets taken away. Imagine the effect that military service could have on an owner of a small business. If he is the owner he has to be around all the time to keep the place in line and make sure things are going well around the business. If he has to leave for full-time military service there is a huge chance that they will lose their business. When a man is forced into military service by draft, he could lose more than his life or his liberty, he could also lose his land or
Although college is important I think that they need to word hard in the military and learn the disciplines of life. Only teenagers should go in my opinion, but only the teens who act awful. If they got sent to the military maybe they will be act right in college.
Being a young black man from Chicago, Illinois is not always perceived as a positive thing due to the stereotypes people are consumed with these days. In most instances, many people take things viewed or heard from the media and automatically assume actions of others as a reflection of me, but that is not true. Fortunately, I was not apart of all the violence in my hometown when I was little, because my parents ensured I was not around to see it. My father joined the military when I was only three years old as a step to move us away from all the bad things happening in Chicago. I have learned over the years that being a military brat is great; but it is not always as cool as people think it is. Yes, you get to travel the world, see new things, and other great benefits from the military, but, when you have a family member gone for extended periods of time to fight for the country, and you are constantly worried about them...that outweighs all the benefits because you are too scared to enjoy any of the other stuff.
One of the greatest achievements is to complete high school and enroll and graduate college. The likelihood of earning and retaining a career are much higher if a student completes college and receives a master's. On the other hand, enlisting in the military and serving for one’s country is a noble career. Veterans returning from service wishing to return to school receive money from the government from the GI Bill. However, there are many more cons to enlisting in the military straight out of high school rather than continuing with school all the way through college. Finishing college with a master's rather than enlisting in the army straight out of high school is the better decision because it will allow
Mandatory military service is a course to make a fit and capable citizen. First of all, military service can help one's character . More specifically it gives good tools so that people can work well in a team, be more organized in everyday event and good discipline. Secondly, it can offer education to people in need. Furthermore it will help people in bad neighbourhoods or is living trough a thought time and give those without the means to be in a home and have a job. Thirdly but not least mandatory military service could be looked at as a dept owed to one's country, loved ones who are protected if ever needed and most important to our right to democracy.
