Why The Military Should Not Be Mandatory

There are certain countries where once you reach a certain age you are obligated to participate in at least two years of military service. I believe that joining the military should not be mandatory, but instead people should join the military on their own terms. The only time that people be forced to join the military is if they are drafted during a war. That is when people are vital and if more people did not join, then it would be catastrophic. It is wrong for people to be forced to join the military; instead they should join on their own. When it comes down to military service some people just aren't fit for duty. There are many circumstances where not everyone is able to deal with the intensity of military service. Many people would not be able to deal with what they put you through when you are in the military. In most cases people who are drafted aren't into what they are doing as much as people who chose to do something. If they are forced to join the military than most people will try to do their work half fast. Those people just want to get their time over with, but they do not want to have to do their best. Now if somebody joined the military because they want to protect their family then they will probably work harder. Those people actually want to help their country instead of hating it for making them join in the first place. I know people who joined the military to make the United States a safer place to live. Many of my friends have parents who willingly joined the military. These people are very passionate on what they do and do it for a great cause. These parents want to make a country safe for their family so they work very hard to make the country safer. If a person was forced they would just want to go back home instead of making home a safe
