For me, the Senior Experience has been a challenging yet rewarding process. Most of the obstacles that came about were when I was doing my research. Finding reliable and substantial evidence that supports my claim took time and effort but once I found it I could easily work it into my paper. My advisor for this project was Mrs.Greathouse. Fortunately, she is my ILT teacher as well, making it convenient for us to meet. She was very helpful and kept me on top of things, all the while leaving me responsible for meeting my requirements. Something I could have done better was practice my presentation with her before I actually presented but since my job shadowing was so delayed, I didn't have much time to do so. When I began my project, I wanted to choose a topic that I would enjoy and can apply to my own life. Therefore, I chose a topic about natural medicine. Recently I became involved with the use of essential oils and saw results, so I decided this was a good opportunity to do some research on why they work. A majority of the sources that I relied upon were doctors, psychiatrists, or laboratories that gave experimental proof that essential oils enhance D the immune system, aid mental illness, and work naturally with the body. A few of my sources that made it into my annotated bibliography …show more content…
She is an independent distributor for the company Young Living Essential Oils. In our time together we discussed the effectiveness of essential oils and how they've changed her life as well as her children's and her allergy ridden husband's. We watched a few seminars on the background of Young Living and their mission, and she kindly showed me her large collection of a variety of oils. Through this experience, I got the opportunity to see a real life example of how oils really work. One thing I could have done better was ask a few more questions but a sufficient amount of information was attained from what I did
It was a bit intimidating, considering I wasn’t the confident 17-year-old I am now. What made it easier was that I had a Link Crew Leader. In order to give back to my school, I decided to be a Link Crew Leader as well and after going through an interview I was given the position. Link Crew is a program created for incoming grade eights. We as leaders welcome new students to our school, make them feel comfortable and create an environment where they can be themselves. This eventually enables all these students to place all their energy on their education without having to worry about other social issues. I strongly believe in the mission behind the program and the importance of education and how every child should be given a fair chance at it as well. I 've been in Link Crew for two years now, and I 've learned about the importance of acceptance and how simple actions can enlighten someone 's entire perspective on things. Supporting the students has also taught me to always be caring and thoughtful to
Erik Erikson was heavily influenced by Freud but while Freud was an ID psychologist, Erikson was an ego psychologist. Erikson stressed that the development of the ego depended heavily on personal and social aspects. “According to Erikson, the ego develops as it successfully resolves crises that are distinctly social in nature. These involve establishing a sense of trust in others, developing a sense of identity in society, and helping the next generation prepare for the future” (McLeod, S. 1970). His theory focused on personality development through eight distinct stages. He believed that personality progressed in a stacking or pre-determined manner, this is referred to as the epigenetic principle. One must

“Researchers at Ohio State University conducted what they say is the most scientifically rigorous test of physical changes caused by smelling the popular scents — and came up with nothing,” says JoNel Aleccia (2008). So this theory explains that the oils and the scents of the oils only make you feel good as opposed to actually getting well, that the fact that these oils actually work is all in the head.

My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile, the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.
As physicians, we are foundations for our patients. We become sources of strength and emotional security for them, in trying times. We do more than fix others back to health (spotting signs of illness, giving diagnoses, drugs or treatment). We must understand the concerns of those we help and be there for our patients—through pain and sorrow. ================
On May 3, 2017, I did my job shadow at the Labor and Delivery department at UCSD Jacobs medical center. For my job shadow, I chose to shadow a perinatal nurse in which I shadowed from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. When I came one of a perinatal nurse gave me a tour of their own floor. I got to know where change, medication room and labor and delivery rooms. What I observed was that perinatal nurse has to check on their patients are going into labor. I got to observe the nurses assigned patients. The nurse would check on the patient's vital signs and the babies. I observed how the nurse would change the IV and drain some of the IV. They also gave me the opportunity to observe a c-section. During the c-section, there was a lot of cutting and getting the
All seniors at Summit Academy High School are required to job shadow a professional in a career path of interest to the student. Since I am interested in the business field, I decided to job shadow Ms. Bynum who works as a project manager at the EPA. After our job shadowing experience, we were asked to send a polite thank you note to our host. Each student was provided with a template as a suggestion for what to say, however, you did not have to follow the template. I decided to write my own thank you letter so I could personalize it. In my letter, I was careful to mention specific advice Ms. Bynum gave me. I wanted to ensure she knew her words were taken to heart and I truly did appreciate her help.
Shadowing in autopsies satisfied my early high school curiosity in that I was able to understand the anatomy of the human body. Knowing the appearance of a normal organ helped me to recognize when an organ was abnormal whether that was through weight or appearance. I have learned that the human body encapsulates teachable knowledge and evidence that leads to the diagnosing of disease and corresponding treatment. My time spent shadowing in autopsies confirmed my interest in learning more about the field of medicine and the doctor’s role in direct patient care. I have shadowed Dr. Simmons, a cardiology specialist and Dr. Fitzhugh at the NIH sickle cell department. In cardiology, I witnessed the physician’s role in patient education regarding
Since my last year of high school has started, I have been apart of events and worked on projects that exemplify my growth as an academic student and as a global citizen. The job shadow project and career presentation I worked on in English class both reflect my growth in college and career readiness. The tree planting event I attended as apart of H.O.P.E. reflects my growth as a global citizen through taking action in my community.

I will fund my exhibit through donations and sales. I would reach out to the community, explain my exhibit and ask for donations, but I would primarily generate revenue through selling items related to the exhibit like prints of the works being shown, creative posters, key chains, t-shirts and other mementos. Additionally, I would have bake sales and fairs and other activities of a similar nature.
