Social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat all want their enjoyers to be able to reflect on a diverse community of culture, respect other members using the same app, be thoughtful when posting current events, and Show a side of your creativity. In today's society social media has changed our perspectives on life, negatively affecting people's relationships with their culture and world wide community. Jenna Wortham the author who wrote “Is Social Media Disconnecting Us from the Big Picture?” has mentioned “We are two countries one that sees blue and black and the other that sees white and gold. The internet once offered Outlets we could use to understand one another. But they are rapidly disappearing.” We as people through the last couple of years have seen social media as Black and white meaning people who use social media have to live up to these certain expectations and post, people comment or tweet certain things that are considered “okay” but honestly social is an amazing source we could use to share creative ideas or things that are happening in our own personal world. People shouldn't get judged or hated on because their posts don't live up to our own personalized particular standards. Even though social media does bring out the best in people like their personality, creativity and own personal life and achievements. It also brings out the worst in them. A side we haven’t discovered before. Anyone who uses social media should alway think about the purpose of this post, comment or tweet, am I being truthful in this post, comment or tweet? According to Jeff Bullas a blogger, he shared with us that “ Social media isn't a place to share drama, issues with family, work or school.” If we post things that we know could lead us to trouble with ourselves or with others, then why do we post it? Is it really worth having your community and your peers dislike you in a negative way all because of a little post, tweet or comment you had to share with others? Also posting a little bit about yourself that makes you come off needy, cocky or rude can have a negative impact on how people perceive you . Social media shouldn’t be a place where we bring people down, where we say whatever we want without taking into consideration that this post could really hurt someone else, post how people should look or portray themselves to this world. When using social media we often may feel that when “ You compare yourself to others more often, you judge yourself, you compare am I better or worse than my friends? Am I happier? Are they happier?.” (Vedantam) Sometimes when scrolling through social media feeds we see all these people posting about them having a good time or their accomplishments and we may feel super happy for them because we know that they are living the life they deserve.
