Assessment 1 I would apply Interpersonal communication, goal setting, accessing information and analyzing influences to form a strong foundation for my health. With interpersonal communication, it deals with effective listening, refusal skills, assertive communication, responding to the emotions of others and asking effective questions. I would apply these skills in a conversation with my friends, family, or teachers to show my thoughts and reactions in a nice manner. In goal setting it can help you make a more specific goal, a measurable goal, an achievable goal, a relevant goal, and a time bound goal if you are using the S.M.A.R.T. system. I would apply this skill in making a goal to run and make it easier to reach. Being physically active
can be challenging, but with internal and external influences it can impact your life a lot and keep you in shape. Internal influences can be your motivation, and your ideas and thoughts. I could apply this skill in homework, or my sports, to show how I feel about homework or my motivation towards sports. Externally could be your friends, family, or role models. This can be applied by other people or things around you. If having a strong foundation for your health is important to you, the chances of you applying these skills and mastering a strong foundation for your health is very achievable. If this is not important to you then forming a strong foundation for your health is most likely not going to work. These are just a couple of the seven essential health skills that should be mastered in order to form a strong foundation for your health.
The title of chapter one is called Introduction to Interpersonal communication. This chapter is mainly talking about interpersonal communication among materials that are very important to us such as interpersonal communication to our life, interpersonal communication and social media and interpersonal communication principles. They are many more that was talked about in the chapter put those three were the main thing that stood out to me. In this discussion paper, I am going to talk about the things that grab my attention while looking over my notes and by looking over my chapter. Those materials are the interpersonal communication to our life, interpersonal communication and social media and interpersonal communication competence.
Chapter three of “Interplay: The Process of Interpersonal Communication” demonstrates a models of “self-disclosure that can help better understand how self-revelation operates in our relationships(pg 87).” By learning about self-disclosure and understanding the models, I was able to understand the effects and process of self- disclosure between my parent and I. It illustrated how self-revealing can be effective in making the relationship between my parents and I stronger and more efficient in understanding one another.
After completing the Clifton strength finders test, I learned my dominant strengths and it gave me a sense on what areas I am strong in. It allows you to work in the areas that you are good in and not in the ones you might not be as strong in. My top five strengths were learner, connectedness, belief, positivity, and includer. A lot of these I figured I would have because I am an athlete and I love to be positive. That is good because I practice these strengths every day which in turn will make me better at them and will allow me to use them in my career.
In every society nonverbal communication is one of the most powerful tools that a person can use to interpret the message that is being delivered. Even though verbal communication is fairly straightforward, nonverbal communication allows others to sense the true emotions of the person that is expressing them. For example even though a person may say that they are not irritated, their usage of voice may display otherwise. Nonverbal communication not only reveals hidden messages, but it also complements, substitutes, and exaggerates verbal communication.
Since the development of civilization, women have always been viewed as subordinate to men in all aspects of life. This is especially true in regards to the communication styles of both sexes. The expository text “ His Politeness is Her Powerlessness” by Deborah Tannen and Charlotte Bronte’s gothic novel, Jane Eyre, demonstrates a shocking similarity between the 1820s and the 21st century in regards to men’s view point on women’s style of communication. According to the texts, women will always be viewed as the inferior sex regardless of their communication style.
These were to enjoy helping people, strong communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, good problem solving, creativity, flexibility, and to enjoy working with others. I feel like I’m good at problem solving, and I enjoy helping others, but I lack strong communication and interpersonal skills. I feel like these are two skills that a person working in the healthcare setting should excel at, and I’m still working on them. I’m also a little shy, so I feel like I lack the “outgoing” personality that most healthcare professionals seem to have.
There are all different types of communication that people will use through out their life. The most important type of communication is interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication differs from other forms of communication in that there are few participants involved, the participants are in close proximity to each other, there are many sensory channels used, and feedback is immediate. Interpersonal communication is the information received from listening to what someone else is saying. Interpersonal communication always uses intonation, diction and enunciation to give meaning to information. Intonation, diction and enunciation sometimes give more meaning to what is being said than the actual words themselves. In the following paragraphs, I will explain to the reader the importance of interpersonal communication in business.
Topical Essential Questions: 1) How do the components of fitness relate to my everyday activities? 2)What kinds of activities will improve my fitness level? 3) What are some skills I need to be physically fit and active?
It is nice to know as an athlete how to stay healthy, but I also plan on doing something similar to this for the rest of my life. Athletics have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. That is why, as of now, I plan on becoming an athletic trainer and physical therapist. In both of these jobs you need to be able to give advice and programs to prevent injuries. Injury prevention is just as of more important to learn about that recovery programs. If a person has the knowledge, you can even incorporate injury prevention with strength and conditioning programs. I would like to be involved with athletes as much as possible when I get older, so having the knowledge to keep them as safe as possible when playing is a must. This might sound like a lot of work to some people. However it is something that I am passionate about, and I am very excited about my
According to article entitled “ Marriage Quality” published by Comstock and Sterzizweick in 1990 states that “it is not absence or presence of problem which determines the marriage quality but it is how successful to handle conflicts, that determine marital relationship quality.
Being the instructor supervisor at my work center with only a year left of this assignment, I will focus on setting up my replacement for success as my first milestone. Once that assignment is over, I will go back to an operational assignment, most likely as an assistant noncommissioned officer in charge. From the leadership behavior self-assessment, my scoring is very high in the transformational categories. Being a transformational leader, I would want to improve upon the two lower scoring areas, inspirational motivation and idealized influence. By improving in those two areas, I would like my co-workers to view me as a well-rounded transformational leader. For my next milestone, I will need to improve over the next three to five years as a noncommissioned officer by using the five concepts I found most important from the module entries. Those five
Interpersonal communication is both transactional and constitutive. Transactional means that communication is an on going process, while constitutive means that communication helps construct the reality of what is and what will be. An example of interpersonal communication is when I FaceTimed my mother to ask her how to do laundry. The example qualifies as interpersonal communication because it follows the transactional communication model; the communication is qualitative in nature and it exemplifies communication competence, all of which demonstrates interpersonal communication.
One of the skills is your ability to effectivally communiticate your knowledge and beliefs about health. Personally I believe this is one of my stronger skills. I’m always sharing my fun facts about health, giving workout tips, and even telling people that their gatorade should be half-water(thank you Mrs. Lettner). This is one of the easier skills to improve because it could be as simple as looking up a simple health fact and spreading it around to people. Although it is a very simple one, I also find it to be one of the most important because when someone tells me a fact or belief about what can help my health, I always look it up to see if it’s true and from that way, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge about my personal health.
An area I believe I need to improve on is my communication skills; looking for opportunities to interact with patients, family members, nurses and doctors. I need to practice professional communication skills, with all these people, adjusting the terminology and level of detail to be right for the person I am communicating with, and asking more questions to get more information about my
Interpersonal communication is one of the significant skills while communicating with other individuals. It normally covers an extensive area and includes both verbal and non-verbal communication. Body language and facial expression may affect the accurateness of the message transmission directly. Interpersonal communication skills normally ensure that the message is sent and received correctly without any alteration thus improving the communication efficiency. Learning diverse aspects of interpersonal communication has greatly aided me in better understanding of what it consists. I am capable of applying the knowledge gained from this course to my personal experiences. This paper reflects on my personal experience in learning interpersonal communication.
