A questionnaire called The Attentional & Interpersonal Style Inventory, abbreviated TAIS, is used to measure effective performance skills, specifically while in high-pressure situations. Many different companies, some military and government branches, and a few countries have used this personality test in training and selection and have all benefited from the use of it. The results, if the test is taken seriously, help in the development of a performance enhancement program for individuals (TAIS, 2016). Her scores on external distractibility and internal distractibility were 92% and 87% respectively. High external distractibility refers to how easily one is distracted from what they are doing by external elements, like noise and interruptions. High internal distractibility measures one’s own inclination to get distracted by irrelevant thoughts and feelings; sometimes, an individual might experience their thoughts racing through their mind, too fast to even keep up with (TAIS, 2016). Some possible examples of internal distracters include thinking about future events, fatigue, and a lack of motivation. Negative, irrelevant thoughts cause the individual to doubt him or herself. The chain reaction of these events cause anxiety, and either affect or halt the action that was meant to take place (Lenac). Psychological skill training is used to enhance performance by a systematic practice of skills, and in this case, can be used to help the choking response (Weinberg, 248.) A sport psychologist will have the client recognize what happened when the choking first ensued. The client can now receive help with managing thoughts, emotions, and awareness so that she will not choke again. It is important for the client to only think about now, while managing breathing, so the negative thoughts can be released. The TAIS personality assessment is extremely useful is analyzing one’s strengths and weaknesses, along with other personality traits. The results for client, Alexandra Gross, were evaluated and used to create a treatment plan. The tools used to analyze the client’s personality should aide in creating a helpful performance enhancement

The goal of the personality assessments was to provide a better understanding of all of the individuals. Prior research indicated that certain personality types are best matched with certain tasks. However, it is challenging to meet both the technical and personal criteria to create the “perfect” employee. Therefore, it was determined that the knowledge of the individual’s personality style and that of their team members provided a more realistic solution toward communicating effectively and working together as a team. Further instruction is planned for the group to discuss how individuals need to communicate based on their own results and the r...

The general personality traits, which are related to success both in and outside the workplace, are all inherent in my answers given in the Leadership Assessment Quiz. With statements such as, “it is easy for me to compliment others” and “team members listen to me when I speak,” it is apparent I possess these characteristics. Whereas my task- related personality traits associated with successful leadership, such as courage, still need to be developed. Not only do I know this in myself, but it is clearly pointed out throughout the test, with statements such as, “resolving conflict is an activity I enjoy” and “I would enjoy coaching other members of the team”.

It is remarkable that by answering a few basic questions, a person can learn key characteristics of his or her personality. After taking the personality test, I learned my general personality type is “The Consul” (ESFJ-A). Individual traits of my personality type are more extroverted than introverted, more observant than intuitive, more feeling than thinking, more judging than prospecting, and more assertive than turbulent. My role is Sentinel and my strategy is People Mastery (“Consul Personality,” 2017). The results of the personality test offered insight into my overall personality type and its social and workplace implications.
