SETTING 2018 INTENTIONS, NOT RESOLUTIONS. Resolutions are usually negative and point out something wrong with us. Us girls are continuously guilty of the 'lose weight' resolution, am I right? Resolutions are a firm action with no room to move which often lead to failure. Intentions are a positive guide with room to move as our circumstances change. Intentions are a commitment to align ourselves to a particular action. Setting intentions rather than resolutions enables our mind set to do what we want to do, not what we think we should do. This year I am setting an intention so that I will not fail resolutions and beat myself up about it, like I have again, and again. MY INTENTION: To find ways to enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle, both mentally and physically. …show more content…
To keep my thoughts and actions aligned I will be using STONED CRYSTALS INTENTION CARDS* alongside crystals as a beautiful reminder. Each day I will shuffle and choose one of the twenty-five intention cards and display it in the acrylic frame. The cards are illustrated with positive mantras and affirmations. Ashley the founder of STONED CRYSTALS explains below how to set intentions: 1. Find a quiet place to still the mind It is ideal that when we plant the seed of intention that we are in a restful space where your awareness remains focused on what you are trying to manifest. And remember Intention is much more powerful when it comes from a place of contentment than if it arises from a sense of lack or need so try to make it a frequent ritual that is not only spawn when you are feeling negative or upset. I find either before or after meditation or in the morning whilst having your morning coffee is the best way to start the day. 2. Develop a positive Intention Before you state your intention it’s important to think about a few things: -What is it that I really
One view of Buddhis... ... middle of paper ... ... tation is nothing other than the intention to wake up” (p 74). I like how meditation begins and ends with your intention, you do not have any set time or order. Meditation is all in how you want to practice it.

There are different ways to think about mindfulness. Sometimes, you want to be mindful of time moving forward so you are not late for an appointment, or so a project such
The theory of goal setting was developed by Edward Locke and Gary Latham (1990) and states that there is a direct relationship between the setting of specific high goals and task performance. A higher degree of employee performance is obtained when specific goals are set compared to the performance achieved when employees are simply told to do their best (Latham & Locke, 2007). These findings have helped shape leadership styles and improve employee performance and job satisfaction (Posthuma & Al-Riyami, 2012).

To be criminally liable of any crime in the UK, a jury has to prove beyond reasonable doubt, that the defendant committed the Actus Reus and the Mens Rea. The Actus Reus is the physical element of the crime; it is Latin for ‘guilty act’. The defendant’s act must be voluntary, for criminal liability to be proven. The Mens Rea is Latin for guilty mind; it is the most difficult to prove of the two. To be pronounced guilty of a crime, the Mens Rea requires that the defendant planned, his or her actions before enacting them. There are two types of Mens Rea; direct intention and oblique intention. Direct intention ‘corresponds with everyday definition of intention, and applies where the accused actually wants the result that occurs, and sets out to achieve it’ (Elliot & Quinn, 2010: 59). Oblique intention is when the ‘accused did not desire a particular result but in acting he or she did realise that it might occur’ (Elliot & Quinn, 2010: 60). I will illustrate, by using relevant case law, the difference between direct intention and oblique intention.
This chapter takes a look at mindfulness and contemplation and how it can mean many things in many cultures, religions and faiths, and how it relates to photography.
Throughout every person’s life, there will always be moments in time where change will take place. This could range from a variety of events such as changing schools, jobs, or even one’s own home. However, there are some habits that help one stay healthy if they remain consistent. This can consist of altering one’s diet to a healthier one or even enhancing the number hours of sleep one gets per night. A health change behavior goal that I have taken the time to evaluate and accept is necessary will be composed of a ten day exercise program in order to completely change my physical fitness habits. Selecting this health change behavior was the best choice due to the fact that after starting my educational career here at UCI, I had abandoned the active lifestyle that I once had before college. For the past two
Setting goals is the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goal's you are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in school, and trouble finding a career that will provide for you. Without these three things, achieving your goals is going to be one of the toughest tasks in the years to come.
One who wants to succeed in life should have goals. As the definition of goals are the instructions in general to clarify the achievement that you wanted (Michigan 1999). By setting goals, one will have a sense of direction in achieving what they wanted. However, goals are often mistaken with objectives where goals have broad statements, general purpose, something that we could not touch and see, and hard to measure while objectives are specific and precise, tangible, and measurable. According to Bartle (2011), he stated that the objective is more specific, measurable and verifiable than the derived of goals. Thus, the goals mean the reasons toward which an effort is directed or intended become the result or the achievement attained.
My long-term personal goal is to be at a place where I am genuinely happy with myself and my life and not allowing others and their opinions on me or what I have done or am doing in life to
Choose whichever work for you either from these examples or your own and write them where you will constantly see them every day and remember to say them to yourself. You can put them everywhere your bathroom mirror, your screensaver, you 're refrigerator, your dashboard, basically anywhere and everywhere where you will be reminded to repeat them and this will help you start rewriting your brain to believe in your awesome self!
Objective: By the second week of the program, 100% of the participants will understand the importance of physical activity in any lifestyle.
Any individual that leads a healthy lifestyle will say that healthy living is more than just a fad or goal, it’s a way of life. Changing certain aspects of one’s current lifestyle to become healthier is not the final goal, rather, the objective of setting these short and long term goals is maintenance. Therefore, I choose to change an aspect of my current lifestyle that I felt would facilitate the improvement of my health and would later become a change that I can maintain over the course of my life; I choose to increase the amount of water I drink per day to improve my inner bodily health. I decided on this change because I feel that setting a smaller goal that I could easily monitor and execute will expedite future changes to my lifestyle,
My personal health has been something I constantly think about. Whether it’s myself, my parents, my doctor, or others that bring it up, I’m reminded that I need to eat healthier or exercise more, etc. I know that I need to get better about what I eat and try to work more exercise into my daily routine, I just find it hard to find the motivation to go and actually accomplish what I know that I need to do. Especially in today’s society where we’re surrounded by a lot of non-healthy food, and getting access to healthy food is more expensive than the latter, it’s hard to make the better choice and choose the healthy option. I’m hoping now that I’m in college that I’m able to get better at taking care of myself than I have in the past.
