What is Self-Discipline?
The indispensable requirement for hard work is self-discipline. Success is possible only when you can overcome the natural tendency to cut corners and take the easy way. Lasting success is possible only when you can discipline yourself to work hard for a long, long time. Napoleon Hill wrote that “Persistence is to the character of man, as carbon is to steel.” He also said that “Before success comes in any man’s life he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps, some failure. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is quit. That is exactly what the majority of men do.” It is your persistence that is your measure of belief in yourself and your capability to succeed. If you can persevere long enough and believe in yourself and your ability to work hard enough, ultimately, you will succeed in any endeavour you set your mind to.
Failure is necessary
A huge weakness in some people is the fear of failure. Failure seen as weakness is wrong. Failure should be seen as the stepping stones to success. As Thomas Edison pronounced says “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” What this means is that in order to succeed you will fail. To become a master in your craft you must have the ability to accept that you will fail on your journey to establish skills in your area of expertise. The only way to overcome this issue is to either try again, or give up. You can easily give up, but it is your self-discipline that will enable you to try again, and again until finally you succeed, no matter how big or small the goal.

Every time you persist and force yourself to focus and journey on, even when you feel like giving up, your self-esteem will increase. Each act of self-discipline will reinforce every other act of self-discipline. Every act of persistence will toughen every other act of persistence. Each time you use self-discipline and persist through your studies and endeavours, you become stronger and more confident in your abilities.
Self-discipline Summarized
Napoleon hill, professor and researcher of success for 20 years, stated that the master key to success is self-discipline. It is important that you realise that self-discipline along with persistence is the key to the completion of your deliberate practice that will help any individual achieve success in the entertainment industry.
I agree with Gladwell that hard work can lead to success. Too often we think success happens because someone has money or gets lucky. This is wrong. Success takes hard work, imagination, and motivation. “Success is not a random act. It arises out of a predictable and powerful set of circumstances and opportunities.” (Gladwell 52) If you assert yourself and use your mind and imagination, you can create those
If someone wants to succeed in life and stay recognized by superiors, then he or she ought to appear hardworking. A person begins with setting goals. There are two categories, the first, “be” goals and the second, “do” goals. In other words, ask yourself, "What to be?" or "What to achieve?" Four categories of goals consist of wealth, health, relationships, and self-fulfillment which equal success. Working diligently to finish a task demonstrates how to live a successful life. Given these points, Thomas Edison, Helen Keller and Harriet Tubman, all exceptional achievers, found that prosperity undoubtedly comes along for everyone who perseveres.
There are lots of examples of this in the book but here is a good example from Mawi when he ran track. “That summer, I would run at least six days a week and lift weights every other day. I did it, working during the day and training at night. Again, my hard work paid big dividends … I earned all-conference honors.” (115). Mawi joined the high school track and field team. During his sophomore and junior years, Mawi only made marginal progress. He wanted to change that. Mawi knew from his father that if you work hard, you will succeed. As you can see by this quote, Mawi did as his father said and no doubt, he succeeded in getting all-conference honors. Persisting is not just in sports, however, Mawi also worked hard at school. He recalls, “I stayed up night after night, rereading the chapters and reviewing my notes. I would get home from sports at 6 p.m., eat, help out around the house, and study until midnight. Then I would get up at 6 a.m. and do it all over again. The hard work paid off. I often got the highest grade in the class.” (112). As you can see, Mawi also worked hard at school. Mawi took an advanced us history class. He knew that by working hard and persisting, he could get the highest grade in the class. Mawi spent 6 hours studying and reviewing his work. He was committed to earning the highest grade in his class and his hard work paid off. Working hard and persisting is a valuable lesson to learn because it produces positive results. Also, it does not matter whether you are running track or studying for a test, if you work hard at anything and set your mind to it, you will achieve your
Having admirable character, making conscientious decisions, and possessing positive determination are key ingredients for remarkable success.
To begin, I honestly believe it is necessary to be dedicated to your job. It is necessary to be one hundred percent dedicated to whatever you are doing if you wish to get substantial results. If you look at statistics, you will realize that it took years of blood and sweat, otherwise known as dedication, to get something fulfilling. Jesse Owens once aptly stated, “We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” I honestly believe that if you wish to be successful in your occupation you must be willing to put in the effort. You will not be satisfied with your work if you do not do whatever you can to get it done. To sum up, you must ...
Firstly, hard work is a trait that takes both physical and mental endurance. Hard work is shown in the time when the sweat is pouring down your face and your body is asking you to give up but you push past those feeling and keep going. For example, when I chose to change my mindset I spent tremendous amount of hard work put into changing into the growth mindset. Hours upon hours of telling myself, “Never Quit, push yourself because hard work will pay off.” As you can see, hard work helped me look past my failures and understand “Never Quit” was the mindset I needed.

If you do not work hard for something how do you expect to achieve it? The only way to do so is through strong work ethics. Dedication, being willing to cooperate with others and holding myself accountable for my work are just a few strong work ethics that I possess. Furthermore, through my dedication I am able to stay focused on what I want to achieve. No matter the task, if I set my mind to it and give my all, I can walk away content regardless of whether I fail or succeed. Natural talent isn’t called for in every situation.
