I am Olivia Gines and nothing that anyone does or says will change that. No one can change me except for me. If I change it will be because I made a conscious decision to do so. My soul is my own, no matter how others may try to convince me otherwise. I have no duty to change in order to gain the respect of those around me. My greatest duty in this life is to serve and love others. Life holds no meaning if my only concern is myself. I will be able to find the most joy through loving the people around me. There is no true lasting happiness in material goods, the only lasting joy comes from touching people’s souls and bringing light into their life, if only in the smallest way. This is a value that I hold in the highest regards and I …show more content…
No matter the task, if I set my mind to it and give my all, I can walk away content regardless of whether I fail or succeed. Natural talent isn’t called for in every situation. When I put my best foot forward, the reward is much more gratifying once the final objective is reached. This is a standard that I attempt to hold myself to in everything I undertake in life. Aside from perhaps love, it is of greatest influence to me. Everything in life doesn’t revolve around a win or lose situation. Failure can be taken as an opportunity to learn and grow as an individual. It is in the middle phases in which the most growth takes place and an individual takes the most bounds towards reaching their goal. I will use my missteps to strengthen me and boost myself to an even greater success Joy cannot be felt without pain. I will take my heartaches in life, and accept that because I have felt greater anguish, I too will be able to feel greater happiness. Although pain should not be sought out, it also should not be feared. Times of trial can be some of the greatest learning opportunities in …show more content…
Running from my problems will not solve them, and in many cases will only make them worse. Although it may be uncomfortable and nerve racking at times, it is always the better option to face your issues head on rather than painting a pretty picture over them and pretending they don’t exist. I strongly believe in honesty and holding tightly to that which I know to be true. At times I may have to stand completely and utterly alone, but this will not cause me to turn away from the truth. In the end the truth will always win out, it doesn’t matter what rocks are thrown at it, it will not fall. When the lots are cast I would much rather be found standing resolute to the one thing that never fell when the winds of opposition began to blow. I have a deep and abiding love and respect for my parents. Though I am beginning to make decisions for myself, I will always have an open ear to the opinions they offer me. My love for them will never cease and I will always hold dear the values they instilled in me which made me who I am
There is a old time saying that “you will never know what true happiness feels like until you have felt pain”. In order to reach where you are going in life you have to go through hardship and pain to find your inner contentment. Often times, people who have too much in life always takes it for granted ,because all they have is pleasure and not knowing the feelings of pain and being without. Martha C. Nussbaum author of “who is the happy warrior” states that you have to go through pain to find the true meaning of happiness while Daniel M.Haybron author of “Happiness and Its Discontents” states that pain doesn 't bring happiness, happiness is just a thing you feel when you think you may have enough. To find happiness you have to go through the unbearable process of life.
This is one of the reasons why humans do not normally imagine themselves living a hard future but a simple one. Therefore, we try to avoid feeling or thinking about pain as it is prefered to live a life without it. Even so, in order to try to stay away from it, we need to understand ourselves and the cause of our pain. All of us tend to search for happiness but sadness disturbs it. Could we consider happiness as happiness if we did not feel pain at all? or Could we be happy if we had not experienced pain at all?. Despite reasoning that happiness comes from pain and vice versa, we can’t avoid asking ourselves about the point and purpose of suffering. Does it makes us better people? Does it helps us to empathize when someone is going through a painful situation?. Sadness is our answer to pain and we can overcome sadness over time. But pain is always there although at some moments it becomes less of a burden for ourselves and unnoticeable for other people when we are experiencing joy. Sadness can’t be hidden, pain can. We learn to live with it and if we don’t accept it the pain conquers and defeats us. If we could not
And if it is true that the lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success then I am right. This is where my path to success really begins. It is never late to start again. Small things that aren’t so small can have a big repercussion in someone's life. We as human beings need to learn how to be more loving, respectful and compassionate. I am so proud to be who I am today because of this past experiences. I believe almost everybody has had a time in their lives in which they failed, nobody is perfect. Failure indeed can be fundamental to later success, but the expectations of success are not what people think, at least for me, but I certainly know I'm not
No one wants to be a failure at all in life but failure is all around us. For example, “Uncertainty makes one tentative if not fearful, and tentative steps, even when in the right direction, may not overcome significant obstacles.” (Barry 1). The purpose was advanced through showing that everyone has to fail in life, so they learn from their mistakes. Everyone makes decisions not knowing what will happen once it is done. Barry suggests, “It is the courage to accept—indeed, embrace—uncertainty.” (2). Pathos developed Barry’s motive by stating that accepting the failure will help believing in oneself easier as life goes on. Accepting mistakes and failure helps get overcome those difficult obstacles people face in their life
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson-
The inspiring memoir, Discovering Wes Moore, written by Wes Moore teaches the reader many life lessons, which are included in the themes of the memoir. This first example of Wes Moore’s life teachings is “But hard work and putting in the effort to be good at something matters” (Moore 142). This quote from Wes Moore is important to me because when I work hard and put in my best effort I succeed immensely. When I read this fragment of Discovering Wes Moore, I am reminded that everything that I do, whether it is academic studies, dance, soccer, or piano, it should be done with my best exertion. If you are diligent with your work and doing your best, you will succeed and achieve greatness throughout life. One connection I have with this statement
“Good timber does not grow with ease, the stronger wind, the stronger trees. The further sky, the greater length. The more the storm, the more the strength. By sun and cold, by rain and snow, in trees and men good timbers grow.” All of us experience trials, most the time several are simultaneously. Because we are ready to be strengthened, Heavenly Father gives us experiences also called trials, that stimulate growth, understanding, and compassion which polish us for our everlasting benefit. To get from where we are to where He wants us to be requires a lot of stretching, which usually entails discomfort and pain. When enduring through a trial we need to remember, we have trails for a reason. Instead of dwelling on the negatives of what is happening around us, we need to focus on, what we can learn from this or how we can grow and become stronger.
Each individual in this world has a distinctive identity. Even twins and triplets, who appear to be similar in their physical traits, have separate individual identities. After taking the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, I was able to affirm some of my specific personality traits that define me. I am active and curious and I never tire of adventure. I enjoy every bit of my life. Until now, I have discovered just a portion of my specific identity, but I will reveal the mystery of my identity in this exciting and adventurous journey of my life.
Failure can cause a torrent of mixed emotions and thoughts. One can begin to doubt their motives for even attempting to succeed at a certain task. Some people may choose to give up after failure, but there are a select few who rise up to the occasion and move forward to try and succeed no matter how many tries it takes. By overcoming those difficult moments in life, it gives a person a sense of accomplishment and pride and that alone is a beautiful thing.
Everyone in life experiences failure. It can affect people positively or negatively and that all depends on how they react to the experience. If one lets their failure overcome their dreams, it will lead them in the wrong path. But if one views their failures as a motive to succeed and grow, then they are on their way to becoming successful. For me, I let my failures in life help build onto my character and define the person I am today. My childhood injury is my example as I let this moment affect the outcome of my dreams I had then.
Failures can be used as lessons so that the failure will not be repeated again. There could be long term failures that are crucial to life to remember and there could be short term failures that help a bit. One of my greatest failures in life that I've experienced and learned from would be from the time of my first grade year. I didn’t take school serious when I was in the first grade and made terrible grades. After this failure, it made change the outlook on school and I started trying. I learned that I need to take school serious or else I will do bad in school. This failure lead to success in school and it has changed the way I think of
Before I bite the dust I need to realize that amid my life I have conveyed extraordinary joy to others. Kinship, we as a whole concur, is a standout amongst other things on the planet, and I need to have numerous companions. In any case, I would never pass on completely placated unless I realized that those with whom I had been close had increased genuine joy from their kinship with me. In addition, I feel there is an extremely genuine joy to be found in satisfying others, a sort of joy that can't be picked up from whatever else. We as a whole need much bliss in our lives, and offering it to others is a standout amongst other approaches to accomplish it for ourselves.
This was the lesson I learnt from my father, an unceasing learner and a person who would never give up no matter how many and how difficult the obstacles may be. Having understood from him that success is a moving target, the years of my life with my family have inculcated in me a desire to achieve perfection.
“Something in human nature causes us to start slacking off at our moment of greatest accomplishment. As you become successful, you will need a great deal of self-discipline not to lose your sense of balance, humility and commitment.
Each and every positive outcome becomes a testament to your capabilities. A loss, on the other hand, can take the wind out of your sails. Road block after road block can drain the confidence out of people. It happens. We're all human here.
