A Comprehensive Introduction Science is about understanding and building knowledge about how the natural world works. It explains the inter-relationship with one's life and nature and promotes environmental education and more so environmental habits. Teachers must catch the children’s interest and once they get it they cannot lose it. A teacher can motivate their children to love science in many ways. They can motivate their children by giving them a prize or a gift to reward them for doing their work or by participating in class activity. For example, in the science class if a child answers a question correctly then the teacher will give that child a prize or a gift as a reward. This will motivate not only that child but also other children in the class to take part more in classroom activity thus, it will help them to improve and perform better in class. Another way of motivating children to love science is to bring science to life where the teacher takes the children on a field trip so that they can not only hear about some of the science topic but they can also see or even touch. Doing this will help to explore and develop a love for science. Teachers can also have the children doing experiment in class which will also excite them and help them to love science since it is fun. Children can also be motivated through school science fair where they are given an opportunity to participate in it. Thus, this will encourage the children more as they will see how fun science can truly be and also be exposed to new opportunities. Kidwatching shows many different things when it comes to collecting data on how a student or student’s learn over a period of time. When doing kidwatching observations, it is important to monitor everything that could have an influence on a student’s performance. Different things such as resources, environments, interactions, etc. are a few things that can affect a student when it comes to learning. Being able to kidwatch at Killian Elementary, I’ve been able to collect a great deal of data when it comes to seeing a student as a scientist. This opportunity has allowed me to look at teaching science many different ways that can show how much students are interested and how much he/she understands.

I remember that our physics teacher was really angry about the fact that in space agency discarded the fact that was known and generally accepted by the general public. After being in class for just two weeks, I have already seen so many great ideas and have been given new insights on how science should be taught and why it is important. Science is different in its own way, and many students end up not liking it. This is not simply because of the material, but because they way it is being taught in schools. Science is seen as almost an afterthought, whenever it can be fitted in will suffice. The problem with this is that teachers then don’t spend time on their science lesson, it gets taken out if they need more time for something else, or it ends up just reading from a book or powerpoint and students taking notes.
When we sit in a science class, most of the time we are bored as bored can get. We really do not get a chance to explore on our own to find out what’s really out there. Teachers sometimes are not able to get in depth outside the textbook because they are required to teach that all throughout the year. That is why a lot of kids do not really get into science because they are stuck in the book all the time. Some kids love science and do not really care about the work they have to do.

In Science, teachers serve as the facilitator of learning, guiding them through the inquiry process.
