The issue focused on this essay is having patience in a work place. This topic is important because the phrase "Patience is a virtue" is something soldiers like myself will need to develop in order to become an efficient, competent, and successful leader. While researching I found this article that list five useful practice of patiences and how it can be beneficial for leaders in order to accomplish Army missions. Although I have yet to fulfill the spot of being in charge of others, this article is still knowledge that'll be useful to me.
The first useful tool is " seeing through the lens of others". It’s always easy to quickly judge and share your opinion about how others manage certain circumstances. As a leader, you must be objective enough to step back and remove yourself from personal opinions and begin to see the situation at hand through the other person’s lens.
Remember that people running on empty are prone to grow impatient and lose their cool. Be strong enough to handle the pressure and wise enough to be accountable and resolve the issue.

Patience requires a leader to carefully evaluate tension points. How they are managed by others may reveal problem solving patterns that can help anticipate the unexpected and get closer to understanding the root causes of problems. As a leader, you must be extremely open-minded and patient under pressure in order to see it as an opportunity previously unseen. patience can be tested in many ways. Having an open mind can help to understand unique ways that others may approached problems. It will also help to better appreciate others intentions and strategic thought-process.This encounter, while not pleasant, will allow leaders to appreciate thought and ideas from other thinking and skills-sets. The role of a leader is often inaccurately defined as an individual who is in a position to give orders. However, there are enormous differences in the attributes of an outstanding leader, and one of mediocrity. An outstanding leader, above all else, is a role model for their peers. In doing so, a leader of the highest caliber is trustworthy in both their peer’s trust for the leader as well as the leader’s trust of their peers. A leader must also display exceptional skill in communication which transcends speaking and, more importantly, includes listening and consideration to the ideas presented to them. Furthermore, a leader must be supportive of and willing to help their peers build their own strengths. The attributes listed above represent only a small subset of what makes an outstanding leader. Keeping a calm, cool, and collected attitude, even when curveballs are thrown, signifies a strong leader. When an egregious amount of errors or flaws occur during a project, a poor leader will be effected by it negatively and lose control of their team. A poor leader gets frustrated, angry, or even depressed during periods of struggles. An effective leader, notwithstanding, remains composed, and they will not allow even the worst of setbacks to affect their leadership style.
One may wonder exactly what it is that qualities a strong leader possesses. A strong leader is determined, and strong willed. They must be of good judgment, and without bias. They cannot easily be persuaded, and they are firm, yet at the same time, a good lead must also empathize with his subordinates, and have the best interest at heart for said subordinates, at all times. However, with that being said, a good leader cannot be afraid to discipline his subordinates when necessary. Unmistakably, being a leader is a very difficult feat – one which not everyone can accomplish. A leader must be an authority, a friend and a counsellor, all at once. They must be responsible, and always take into account the disadvantages of a situation. Not everyone is suitable to be a leader, whereas, just about anybody can be a good role model.
Bonnici also insists that a good leader offers support to their staff. Motivated staff performs well in their endeavors. Besides, everyone desires to feel appreciated and love doing their working freely without pressures and feelings of compulsion. Bonnici also points out that a good leader gives attention to details. This ensures that a leader recognizes when the people subject to him are well and when they are not well. This helps in putting things in order early enough as they are realized (Charles 145).
Leaders should lead by example. What a leader does and how they do it, serves as an example for others to follow. A leader’s behavior and actions are an important and effective way to influence the behavior of the people the lead. Leaders must treat other with dignity and respect. Leaders take responsibility for their actions, maintain their integrity by doing the right things and develop personable and commutative vision for their organizations. Leaders instill a sense of discipline; enforce organizational standards of the organization and do not turn a blind eye or overlook problems.
Reflection, research, and mentorship help to embrace truth for our benefit, which helps to become individuals that are more authentic. An effective leader knows his or her own strengths and weaknesses, passions and obligations, and is always learning better to manage his or her own emotions, faults, and challenges.

Without effective communication skills and a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished, one will feel like they are trying to herd cats rather than leading.
By my courageous nature, I can give hope to my followers in any case and give them aspirations in wait for a better future. Tough times can also be faced with much resilience (Rath & Conchie, 2008). I can direct people towards achieving goals for the organization as well as personal goals. By providing stability team cohesion is improved towards the generation of better results. In order for a leader to be a leader he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able of affirmative influence “on others”.
The same thing can be applied for organization perspective. A leader must be clear on his higher values. He has to have an accurate view on his weakness and strengths. He must know when to push the button, when to calm down, be decisive and be pro active rather than react to the situation. He has to act as the situation demands, keeping goals in mind.

Leading is a term that defines the daily actions of people happening around the world every day. The concentration a leader has is to get results. You need be aware that any form of results may possibly take time, therefor patience is a key. “Every business person knows a story about a highly intelligent, highly skilled executive who was promoted into a leadership position only to fail at the job. They also know a story about someone with solid—but not extraordinary—intellectual abilities and technical skills who was promoted into a similar position and then soared” (Goleman). Any person can use these six most effective types of leadership skills to be successful in their journey of attaining their mission. Under the extreme stress of combat, you and your team might be cut off and alone, fearing for your lives, and having to act without guidance or knowledge of what’s going on around you. For example, going to school. Some challenges come from trying to understand a difficult subject and dealing with the judgment from others at school. This requires patience because tutoring takes the majority of everyone’s time and can sometimes cause frustration. Having patience and tolerance gives the mindset of working hard and achieving the goal desired. Patience also helps with judgment from others because that judgment can cause discouragement. Having patience will give the mindset of realizing that in the end, all the events and situations happening at the moment, will not matter in the future. In The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford was trapped on a tropical island and was forced to stay with his life on the line. He managed to come across a man named General Zaroff. General Zaroff was a hunting addict and he loved to hunt humans. Rainsford wanted to get off the island but he had to be patient. Instead of almost getting killed by General Zaroff, he decided to be patient and tolerate or play along with General Zaroff’s little game.
