Organizational Integrity
“We look for three things when we hire people. We look for intelligence, we look for initiative or energy, and we look for integrity. And if they don’t have the latter, the first two will kill you.” Warren Buffet has given that speech numerous times to MBA students in many fine colleges across the United States. His focus on integrity must be justified considering he’s Warren Buffet after all. However, the idea of integrity being one of the most important elements of personal effectiveness in an organization might be up for debate. In this paper, I will attempt to prove that I believe it is.
According to Robert Young, “Integrity is defined as a combination of attributes and actions that makes individuals and organizations

We might think an individual sought personal or political agendas that elicited such behavior or corruption, and if compliance instead of compromise was had the behavior would not have happened. More often than not the organization never had an association with building culture, molding attitude, and developing individual guidance to do the right thing (Kayes, Stirling, & Nielsen, 2007).
One of the ways an individual and an organization could develop a better solution to the integrity issues plaguing both would be the idea of self-management. Self-management is a self-awareness tool developed to be a control mechanism to hone ones’ emotional triggers. Self-management is not a way to restrict ideas or impulses, but a way to be transparent in a gambit of situations and varying reasons. The big indicator of successful self-management is when things begin to get difficult; instead of complaining about a situation, a way to make it work is often sought after (Shuck & Herd,

Integrity can be described to who a person is when no one is watching. A person with integrity does the right thing even when they are alone and they know no one else is around. An example in the Marine Corps would be standing a post by yourself. If you are all alone on a post and no one else is scheduled to come out for hours, does the person continue to walk their post or do they
Integrity which is demonstrated by acceptance in decision making, having honest communication and activities with ethical practices that demand trust and support
Integrity stands for more than honesty, and it is about standing up for what you believe, it is about leadership, and it is about defining you as a person. Integrity is based on personal beliefs and seeing them through and being able to complete a task, to put it together regardless of the complication of said task. The novel To Kill a Mockingbird is a profound example of integrity in action in the real world and moreover, shows its importance. Being a person of integrity shows that you practice what you preach yet also shows that you are what you preach and it is a significant and advantageous quality to
In our society there excites a general feeling of distrust. We live in a culture of false advertising and as a result we don’t know who we can trust. People are constantly afraid that the government, corporations and media, are lying to them. Stephen L. Carter’s article The Insufficiency of Honesty, captured my attention because it addressed this issue at its core and left me contemplating the issue of integrity vs. honesty. Currently, there is an outcry for honesty. But in truth honesty is not enough and not quit what we are looking for. Honesty is often used to deceive, to induce harm and to avert blame. What people are really searching for is integrity. Carter’s article address the difference between honesty and integrity and how honesty can be used dishonestly. He also discussed how long held beliefs effect our perception of honesty. All of these factors affect how we view our society and add to our feelings of mistrust.

Integrity can be defined soundness of moral character or honesty. My parents explained it to me as doing the right thing when no one else is looking. An example of me having integrity is once when I went to the gas station to fill up my car, the pump stated that there was an error and then it allowed me to fill my car with gas, without paying. I went inside to try to pay for my gas. I was running tight on time because I had to go to work, but I waited in line and then explained to the cashier what had happened. She thanked me for staying to pay for the gas, and said that I really could have driven off without paying. I did not think of it at the time, but this is how I practiced integrity.
Integrity is one of the most essential principles in business practice. Without integrity, the reputation of a business can suffer unrepairable damages in which consumerism becomes nonexistent. Integrity must be built into the organizational infrastructure in health care to build a foundation of ethical integrity and adopt a culture that prioritizes this value (Mantel, 2015). I chose this business principle because I strongly believe that integrity is the heart and soul of a business’s character. Character reveals the core of business standards and is vital to sustain trust. Integrity is incorporated at my facility under the value system, to enable communities to rely on our health care organization. Integrity is chief in health care because it encompasses the foundation of veracity and honesty. Consumers such as patients, heavily rely on integrity of health care organizations to provide the best care. Integrity is important to me because it represents a network of trust and honor. As a health care professional, ethically and morally sound decisions have to be made with
Integrity is the quality of being honest and fair (“integrity,” n.d.). Integrity involves displaying high standards of ethical conduct and behaviors consistent with agency and governmental standards. Jordan has ensured throughout his time as an H.R. professional that he is remaining ethical at all times. “I have to ensure that I am aware of all policies and regulations that can affect our employees. But I also have to keep their information confidential.” Confidentiality is very important for H.R. professionals as they need to ensure that they handle confidential information appropriately, and never divulge any information to unauthorized persons. They also must serve the needs of top management and monitor their actions towards employees to be sure that all policies and regulations are followed.
Integrity is an idea that has been discussed by individuals with a verbal acuity far beyond anything I could ever hope for. With that in mind, I will not delve deeply or poetically into what integrity is or should mean. However, I will simplify the meaning of integrity; at the core, integrity boils down to doing what is right even if nobody is watching. See a piece of trash on the ground and nobody is around...pick it up. Driving down the road with no cops in sight...drive the speed limit. Arrive at a tollbooth and no attendant is working…pay the toll. An applicant is not readily available to sign a form for enlistment…track them down and ensure they sign it. I could write examples until infinity becomes paltry in comparison, yet I am sure I have made my point clearly; the greater good must be upheld regardless of who is there to ensure it is happening. It seems obvious that integrity should be a trait every individual is hardwired with from birth. However, integrity is a thankless trait; nobody is around after all. An individual cannot expect someone to clap, to smile, to thank them, to do anything actually. By definition, integrity should be something that is followed through with simply because an individual wishes to do what is correct, not because they expect accolades of any sort.
Integrity is how somebody lives their life. In this life we live, we face choices every day that only we can answer. We dictate how we run our own lives, and they way we run them defines us. Integrity is doing the right thing versus the wrong thing. People, if nothing else, can always have their pride, their integrity. It is something that means a lot to some people and then nothing to others. The ones who value their integrity highly are the good people in this world, and the opposite is true for those who do not value their integrity.
Integrity is the quality of being honest. When you are honest about something or a certain situation you are considered a person of integrity. Also when you have integrity you have strong moral principles. When you have strong moral principles you know what is right and what is wrong. “Having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way. It's a personality trait that we admire, since it means a person has a moral compass that doesn't waver. It literally means having "wholeness" of character, just as an integer is a "whole number" with no fractions.” Furthermore, having integrity is a quality that many strive to have because it often means that you are a good person.
The term “ethics” refers to an external set of rules that have been established by an institution or organization, for example, a university, and the members are expected to follow them. On the other hand, integrity refers to an individuals’ internal set of principles that guides their actions and behavior (Czimbal and Brooks n.p.). As a rule, people are usually rewarded when they follow ethical codes of conduct by an external committee or board that monitors their behavior. For a person of high integrity, the benefits are usually intrinsic. Moreover, such individuals always make the right decisions even when they are not being watched. Therefore, this feature of character is often influenced by a person’s upbringing. In
Beginning your career with honesty and integrity makes for a great team building skill and can help in create great relationships with your superiors and co workers. I think that honesty and integrity should be demanded in all aspects of life. It helps build character and a respectful personality. When we should that we have
The act of using integrity to solve business problems will affect the business and the employees. By using integrity, the business will be seen as a company who operates with honesty and respect. By allowing its employees to see upper management using integrity to solve problems instead of taking the easy way out, the employees will learn that the company values morals and values above money. It will also make it easier for employees to stand up for themselves in the case of a decision conflicting with their personal code of
Integrity is, in my opinion the important characteristics because it’s a core quality of a great life, building a big “character” to ensure that someone knows right from wrong. My mom said to me “Without integrity you’re just a living failure”. Throughout my whole life I have used integrity in some way, shape, or form. Like playing sports, I have always been the leader of every team I played for if it was in basketball, baseball, and football. In sports having integrity is very
