One virtue every person should have and admire in other people in integrity. Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles and moral uprightness. In the Marine Corps integrity was a virtue you hoped everyone one of your Marines had. A person with integrity is someone you can truly trust, is reliable, and an honest person. Integrity can be described to who a person is when no one is watching. A person with integrity does the right thing even when they are alone and they know no one else is around. An example in the Marine Corps would be standing a post by yourself. If you are all alone on a post and no one else is scheduled to come out for hours, does the person continue to walk their post or do they
lay down and take a nap because they know they will get away with it. A person with true integrity will always to the right thing even when no one else is around or watching them. To be known as a person with integrity, you have proven to be reliable and truthful to those around you. This is something truly admirable in a person now days. With having employees that work in different states it is important to know that person that is working for you had the right moral compass and integrity. When an employee tells me they are working a market and out selling beer I have to be able to trust that the individual is not actually just sitting at home playing video games all day. An employee with integrity is a person who can be trusted and you know they will always be reliable when there are tasks to be done. Trust is a huge piece to being a person with integrity. Honesty and integrity are the very two stakes on which the whole thing is balancing. Honesty and Integrity are important and shouldn't ever be lost. Being an honest person is a must for someone to have integrity. Without honesty there is no integrity. An honest person is free of deceit and untruthfulness. Honesty refers to the quality of being honest, truthful and sincere. An honest man is courageous and brave. He does not bow his head before others. He can face any situation in life with valor and self-confidence. Thus honesty is the best trait in the virtue of being a person with integrity.
In order to better understand my leadership philosophy, you must first understand who I am. I spent 8 years active duty in the Marine Corps. Afterwards, I did a multitude of different civilian jobs while pursuing my Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from Friends University. I have been married for almost 20 years and have two awesome boys, ages 1 and 5. I think family is imperative in keeping Soldiers grounded and in a good state of mental health.
Integrity is the quality of having honesty and strong values. In the story “from Sir Gawain the Green Knight” Sir Gawain had to face many challenges and still had integrity. Although he botched some of his tests, he also exceeded some of the trials. His integrity helped him throughout all the challenges he faced. Due to the all the tests that were given he had to face them all. They were set to an ingenious mark on the King. The king’s test was to prove and see if he was conscientious, robust, and committed.
Integrity, the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Most people who read Arthur Miller's “The Crucible” would agree that one of the main characters, John Proctor is a man of integrity.
Integrity is a core value, a key aspect, of the Army Values. Integrity of the soldier is looked upon highly, and is a valuable asset in any field of the army. Twenty four seven, meaning every hour of every day, a soldier should strive for integrity. Having integrity means your are trustworthy, and being trustworthy means that your NCO can depend on you to do the right thing at all times.
Integrity is a trait that is hard to find nowadays in people but that doesn’t mean it isn’t out there, you just have to look closely. I’m grateful enough to say that I know three people personally who have qualities of integrity. I was raised by a father who has implanted selflessness into my heart. My grandma has shown me how to love and my cousin has manifested how to be brave in life. Selflessness, love, and bravery are the qualities I believe a person of integrity
Within the United States Marine Corps, Marines are held to the highest responsibility of duty and throughout daily living, they are seen as all well rounded personnel who perform tasks and missions with honesty and truthfulness. A Marine that shows he or she has honesty and truthfulness is seen as having proper integrity and is capable of being in an environment that requires one to perform a task that one believes to be right and agree with moral principles. A Marine should always show the importance of having integrity from boot camp, to its relation in the Marine Corps, and in combat scenarios.
The Military defends its country and citizens by any means necessary. The power structure of the military is the most well known aspect to civilians, but there is much more to the armed forces than that. Each tear of the power structure has a responsibility to watch over the lower tears, making sure they are doing their job correctly and build their individual records. Each service member relies on his/her record to dictate how they are treated and advance in the military. In addition to the rank system and individual record, there is a code of conduct in the Military, that is specific to each branch, which must be followed or severe disciplinary action will be taken. The practice of panopticism is most prevalent in the Marines, the strictest
Integrity to me means going above and beyond with everything I do. I think this will fuel good grades and completion of assignments. Having good integrity also came with some confidence, because I had to do more and go outside of the crowd. I did and do more than everyone else, that made me fell a lot more confident about my actions. Confidence has pushed me to make suggestions that I otherwise wouldn't.
“Integrity stems from the Latin word ‘integer’ which means whole and complete. So integrity requires an inner sense of ‘wholeness’ and consistency of character. When you are in integrity, people should be able to visibly see it through your actions, words, decisions, methods, and outcomes. When you are ‘whole’ and consistent, there is only one you. You bring that same you wherever you are, regardless of the circumstance. You don’t leave parts of yourself behind”(Kang).
Integrity is an idea that has been discussed by individuals with a verbal acuity far beyond anything I could ever hope for. With that in mind, I will not delve deeply or poetically into what integrity is or should mean. However, I will simplify the meaning of integrity; at the core, integrity boils down to doing what is right even if nobody is watching. See a piece of trash on the ground and nobody is around...pick it up. Driving down the road with no cops in sight...drive the speed limit. Arrive at a tollbooth and no attendant is working…pay the toll. An applicant is not readily available to sign a form for enlistment…track them down and ensure they sign it. I could write examples until infinity becomes paltry in comparison, yet I am sure I have made my point clearly; the greater good must be upheld regardless of who is there to ensure it is happening. It seems obvious that integrity should be a trait every individual is hardwired with from birth. However, integrity is a thankless trait; nobody is around after all. An individual cannot expect someone to clap, to smile, to thank them, to do anything actually. By definition, integrity should be something that is followed through with simply because an individual wishes to do what is correct, not because they expect accolades of any sort.
Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking. Many Marines are lacking integrity even though integrity is one of the leadership traits instilled in every Marine Corps recruit at boot camp. Bringing this trait back to the developing leaders will strengthen the foundation of the overall Marine Corps. Even though having integrity brings everything out in the open, Integrity improves the overall quality of marines because Integrity develops trust among leaders, Integrity gives individuals respect for one and another, and having integrity makes an honest Marine Corps.
Respect is probably the most important trait that needs to be shown towards your superiors. Every Armed forces branch in the United States of America has a chain of command in which respect is the main premise behind the entire organization. Respect backs the ideals and leadership within any chain of command. Respect is important in the design of the military system itself. You have to automatically trust and do what higher ranking cadet, or any cadre member says because they hold power and most likely have more experience then you. You must show them respect to because they have more knowledge and know how, not to mention they have earned the stop they are in. Respect also tires into the worrier’s ethos, which is an important aspect of what it means to be a member of the army.
My friends and I pretty much agree what integrity is. Morals and honesty. Those are what make our society work. Without it, we have anarchy. Basic human decency helps us live in a basically good world. Of course it is not perfect (see: gang members, terrorists, and the likes), but those who choose to live their lives with g...
Professionals in the United States Marine Corps stand apart from others engaged in particular careers in the civilian world. While many vocations contain some of the characteristics of professional, a lot of careers do not include all of the elements necessary to distinguish themselves as being as close to a professional as a marine. Professionalism grows depending on the time and service they have in the Marine Corps. A professional has specialized knowledge and skill which can only be acquired through prolonged education and experience. Such skill and experience form the basis of objective standards of professional competence that separate the practicing professional from their peers and measure the competence of such professional. This professional knowledge must also be intellectual in nature.
Integrity is the quality of being honest. When you are honest about something or a certain situation you are considered a person of integrity. Also when you have integrity you have strong moral principles. When you have strong moral principles you know what is right and what is wrong. “Having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way. It's a personality trait that we admire, since it means a person has a moral compass that doesn't waver. It literally means having "wholeness" of character, just as an integer is a "whole number" with no fractions.” Furthermore, having integrity is a quality that many strive to have because it often means that you are a good person.
