I exemplify GEICO’s core values in many different respects. I practice integrity, provide service to others and grow and expand myself.
Integrity can be defined soundness of moral character or honesty. My parents explained it to me as doing the right thing when no one else is looking. An example of me having integrity is once when I went to the gas station to fill up my car, the pump stated that there was an error and then it allowed me to fill my car with gas, without paying. I went inside to try to pay for my gas. I was running tight on time because I had to go to work, but I waited in line and then explained to the cashier what had happened. She thanked me for staying to pay for the gas, and said that I really could have driven off without paying. I did not think of it at the time, but this is how I practiced integrity.
Service can be done in many different ways. I am in pursuit of a Baccalaureates of Science in Nursing, and I hope to make my career about the service of others. When I was in high school, I earned good grades, but I did not expend much effort. When I graduated I decided that I wanted to pursue nursing as a career. I enrolled at my local community college to complete prerequisites of the nursing program at VCU and to attain an associate in science. My GPA in high school was a 3.5. At Community College it was a 3.8 and at VCU it is currently a 3.9. My GPA has increased as I have grown academically. I have also been part of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship which has helped me grow spiritually and in relation to others. I have a friend who mentors me in my faith and also assists me when I need help in school. Relationships to other people are a vital part of life, and I am happy that it is an area that I have grown in this past
