What is the value of a professional organization - like NASPA - in the professional development of graduate students and new professionals?
NASPA has a proven significance in the advancement of practitioners through innovative and engaging methods intended to empower individuals, professionals, and field experiences. Organizations such as NASPA, in my observation as a graduate student, serve as an example to the investments put forth to improve graduate students and professionals. Empowering accumulated knowledge and experiences for individuals leads to industry best practices with scholars, colleagues, and university offices. In particular, NASPA provides individualized access for graduate students to develop skills at the forefront of student affairs. From research opportunities to leadership events, enlightened organizations demonstrate a vital source of knowledge and vision for professionals and graduate students.
Why are you interested in being a NASPA Graduate Associate? What specific skills and/or experiences do you hope to gain from this role?

In this capacity as a Graduate Associate, I intend to gain skills related to outreach and development in student affairs. Mainly, constructing programs and promoting services for classmates which best fit their needs for professional advancement. I anticipate being able to further advance my skills related to evaluation as it relates to programs and methods. It is in my view that evaluating programs and projects from the beginning is critical to the efficacy and efficiency within higher education. Reflection and data provide quantitative and qualitative information to document strengths and weaknesses for future areas of programmatic
I now that I have the knowledge to aspire to take up my role within one of the identified population foci. APRNs program developed my core competencies by allowing me to be more efficient adaptability with regards to newly emerging APRN roles or population focus. Furthermore, achieving my course objectives enable me to understand the specific APRN roles. For example, course objectives provide me with a better detail, and align my licensure goals with the responsibilities expected of each role. Licensure will provide me and my fellow APRN graduates with the full authority to practice. Also, certification is required to meet the highest possible standards as APRNs are expected to align knowledge, skills and experience with the standards of health care professionals. This field has very narrow margins for error, and it is therefore important, for APRNs to meet the highest and most stringent academic qualifications. In order to be a recognized as APRN graduate, one is required to complete formal education with a graduate degree or post-graduate certificate awarded by an academic institute and accredited by a recognized accrediting agency empowered by the relevant government education
The Leeds Scholars Program offers many academic benefits that I firmly believe will maximize the potential of any student. Because the Leeds Scholars Program is a rigorous process, the difference in my community of peers, the mentorship opportunities, and the specialized advising will essentially provide the proper guidance needed in order to fully succeed academically and professionally. Over the course of two years, I was able to create bonds and gain long lasting mentors from these experiences. In this program, I did case studies on sexual health, neurology, and public health. With these case studies, I was able to practice leadership skills and investigative thinking along with my peers. Through the Emory Pipeline Program, I also learned new technology within the medical field and how the new technology aided our local hospitals. These experiences opened doors for me to explore what my career calling was.
For example, a DNP degree instructor can provide education to MSN or DNP students, therefore, making the student realize the increase level of confidence in clinical, leadership, and application skills that can be gained with a DNP degree. Evidently, this increases the number of DNP degree holders in the long run which subsequently improves patients’ care in nursing practice. DNP- prepared faculty members can act as a model for advanced practice education (Dunbar- Jacob et al., 2013, p.425). At this point, this writer is slightly unsure of which pathway she may take, once she has completed her studies; the writer is currently contemplating education, health population, or a career as a practitioner. So, this writer had the privilege of interviewing two individuals, one practitioner, and one population health coach. No I don’t belong to any professional association, But I’m planning to join Kansas State Nurses Association in the future .I do believe that as member in this association I will be able to meet and interact with other professionals and be able to provide a unified voice for nursing in Kansas and to advocate for the health and well-being of all people. I do believe that as member I will be able to meet people from different angle with different idea. By taking advantage of the association resources I can grow as professional.

The NLN seeks to be a leader in nursing education by setting goals and objectives.
