Inquiry is asking a question to determine more information and indulge in curiosity. Most associate inquiry with learning and research in a classroom or a workplace setting; however, the importance of inquiry goes far beyond education and information, as it relates to emotional capacity as well as morality. In my life so far, inquiry has evolved in its form and changed the way I think and have thought about the world. As far as where I am now, being a freshman in college, taking First Year Seminar has done nothing but benefit my want to learn. I love understanding the reasons why people act the way they act or think the thoughts they think, and, unfortunately, I do not see myself turning this into a career, but I do see it as a valuable interest. Analyzation has always been a forte of mine. After reading “A More Beautiful Question” by Warren Berger, the class was asked to reflect on which question mentioned in the article was our favorite. I chose the question “Why do the work we do? What if we could take it to a different place and another level?” The way that this question inspires thought strongly relates to my passion for analyzation and could possibly correlate with a future career by expanding on itself. I love the idea of observing the way something works and improving it or even dissecting the strategies used and improving upon those as well. For example, whenever I am in line at a food place or a cafe, like Starbucks, and the service is slow because the establishment is busy, I cannot help but observe the happenings and analyze how they could …show more content…

Both personal and professional relationships contribute to success and happiness, thus maintaining them is crucial. Inquiry can be used in this sense to show others support and care for them in ways that make them feel special and loved. Sometimes just simply asking about someone’s day creates a special connection. Subsequently, inquiry plays a large role in learning after education. Lastly, understanding my passions will always be something that I have to be critical of. Coming into college, I wanted to join as many clubs and student organizations as possible; however, after attending the activities fair, I knew that it would be quite impossible for me to achieve that goal. Consequently, I had to narrow down my interests and combine them, too. For example, I chose A Cappella and working with the Music Production team of WQAQ over working with the Student Programming Board or QU After Dark. To counteract not joining a dance team, I regularly attend university-run Zumba classes, and I absolutely enjoy it. Choosing what to do in college is a form of inquiry that will carry over into my future endeavors.
