Team sports which is where I categorize concert band is a bit contradictory in the way that it needs to promote the dual values of cooperation and competition to be successful. Cooperation because concert band cannot be played with only one instrument. Competition to avoid breeding complacency (which we saw settling in the early episodes) and for higher performance. The thing is cooperation and competition aren't always aligned. And nowhere is it perhaps more diametrically opposed as when a team is conducting an audition. While they could be happily go hand in hand. If those who are senior. Those who have put forth time and effort into the band are the ones who had been rewarded. But as Kumiko's monologue put it Given that it's an audition.... It is not unusual for a senior to be rejected in favor of a junior. But, whether that means everyone accepts the results without another complaint is another question. And really how everyone handles that particular scenario forms the foundation of this episode. Let's start with Natsuki and Kumiko. Before that though, let's praise the directing of the episode for opening with a flashback of what happened with Kumiko and someone who is definitely not accepting the results. It really sets the tone. If you're wondering what is the reason why Kumiko is so cynical and apathetic …show more content…
Reina, at this point of time, is someone that Kumiko "admires" (and still admires actually). Remember Kumiko's monologue in the past episode, "how seeing Reina trying so hard despite the obstacles moved her." Its the same here. Despite probably the tough times ahead, Kumiko can count on Reina moving ahead despite whatever maybe on her way. And Reina is extending a metaphorical hand to Kumiko on that journey... Despite what apprehension Kumiko might have, how can she say
Band is family. When your student walks onto campus, he or she is instantly adopted into the strongest society on campus. They will be spending their school days among the top achievers on campus, with fellow students who look out for one another and steer each other away from trouble instead of towards it. Teachers, staff, parents, and volunteers watch over all the kids as if they were their own.
Large bands, full of unique instruments and amateur musicians, were required to play at festivals and ceremonies. Similar to the evolution of the Wind Ensemble, the Concert Band is derived from military purposes. Instruments, such as the trumpets, horns, and drums, were often used for signaling. In contrast to Wind Ensemble musicians, these Concert Band musicians never played their instruments for military enjoyment.
It is general consensus that marching band is one of the furthest things from a sport; in fact, most people believe that band is nothing more than a group of nerds that were too unathletic to play sports. Contrary to this popular belief, marching band is much more physically taxing and demanding that many people are aware of. Based on the amount of physical exertion it entails and the similarities with other sports that are present, marching band should most definitely be considered a sport.
British rock ‘n’ roll began in the 1950’s and it wasn’t until the 1960’s when The Beatles heightened the start of the British Invasion. The band consisted of eclectic individuals such as John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The Beatles’ group dynamic was founded on team-based operations as well as two-way innovations such as problem-to-solution and solution-to-problem of team building. However, like every group, internal and external interaction arose creating competition, which lead to both positive and negative conflict.
A community is a group of people who share something in common whether it be location, interest or a common goal. Communities are what bring people together and that is exactly what happens in marching band. Marching band is a way for people to find their place and make friends. It is very important not only for growth in music, but also for growth in character and friendship. There is only one requirement for marching band and that is to be able to play an instrument and be willing to practice hard. The people who join marching band do not need to have similar like and dislikes, majors, or even anything remotely in common.

Marching band is a very broad field to participate in. High school and college band both have specific criteria they have to meet during marching season. But what are the differences and likenesses between high school and college band? In high school band, there is one show to perform and there are many long, grueling hours spent perfecting and fine tuning it. The show is not only for halftime spectating at football games, but also band festival and regional contests. High school band has a more stern outlook because the entire season is spent working for placement, whether it be superior or not. Some bands have a more difficult time working considering obstacles such as size. Bands can range anywhere from only thirty to two hundred. With upperclassmen
I am not from a very musical family, so band opened up a completely different world to me. Participating in band allowed me to be more well rounded in my school activities and created a better sense of culture with in me. Playing saxophone in our high school band was an extremely enjoyable experience, I personally enjoyed listening to my part and corresponding parts. Listening to the tones of each individual instrument, as a perfect harmonic sound protruded. It was relaxing as it was a break from my rigorous course load. Band gave me the opportunity to be creative, which was generally absent in my daily life. Having the opportunity to play a musical instrument has also enhanced my intellectual abilities. Studies have shown that playing
I have always loved music. But I haven’t always been sure that music is the right path for me. I attend a small school, however we have one of the largest high school bands in our region. Our marching band is vastly more popular than our football team, and consequently is held to a much higher standard. However, being apart of such a large and intense marching band does have its challenges.
Marching band is like one big machine. When all the parts are working together the machine runs smoothly but if one of the parts are not cooperating the machine stops working. Marching band consists of hundreds of students and, just like a machine, if one member of the band decides to not give in 100% the band will fall apart. Each and every member must be dedicated to the band in order to carry out a triumphant show. I have learned that it takes dedication and determination not only to create a successful band but to live a successful life. I will always be at least 110% dedicated to what I do, from being in class every day to making sure my work is done. And through my determination, ensure that every single thing I do in college is the best
Band for me was and is everything, at least I thought. My senior year in band I learned that band was just more than music. It is a place where you could find your second family, and I did that exactly. However I did not find that out the easy way, our band started to lose confidence as well as responsibility. All of the directors, and section leaders started to take notice of this. We could not exactly put our finger on why it was happening.
The seniority policy might be considered unfair to some employees because their view may be that ‘it does not matter how many years you have been with a company. What matters is how hard and well you work opposed to others.’ The view is that seniority in a company should not reflect whether if an employee should be promoted or not. Seniority does not prove how good an employee might be. Seniority is simply the amount of time you have been with a company.
What my band fam means to me is a group of well-rounded individuals who I can rely upon and who have come together because of a common love for music. Us twelve seniors come from different backgrounds, have different opinions, share different interests, besides the one interest that keeps us all close to one another, music. Without music, we may not have bonded with one another. We would be like any other ordinary student in the high school, only creating friends with those whom they share interests with. We are different however. The bond we have created is unlike any other in our high school. Our bond is formed through creating beautiful music with one another. Apart from becoming close to one another, we also share success, both musically
Most of the public does not know what happens behind the scenes before a band performance. When you think of band, you’d think of a conductor, and kids blowing, or hitting instruments for sounds. Some people think band is a “great program.” Others may think band is for “loser or geeks.” Band membership requires commitment, knowledge, and patience; with a lot more of an adventure in store.
Music is an essential part of life because of the expression it allows people to have, its entertainment, and its therapeutic ways for the world.
