A healthy lifestyle is all that many people ask for. This is because good health allows people to carry effectively out their social, economic activities. Unfortunately, many people are not living healthily in many parts of the world. People consume unbalanced diet and abscond doing physical activities, because of laziness and busy schedules. Moreover, the alarming number of obesity cases is indicating that people are increasingly ignoring physical activities. Similarly, many institutions no longer emphasize on the importance of physical activities among children; reason for the constant increase in the number of obese teenagers. Obesity can be defined as a condition, which results from the accumulation of excess fats in one's body. This phenomenon comes about because of lack of physical activities, which are important in burning excess calories in the body, thus balancing the ratio of food consumed to the energy expelled. Therefore, lack of these physical activities leads to accumulation of excessive calories in the body, which are then converted to body fats (Jakicic et al, 2003). In fact, research shows that in the past decade obesity cases have significantly risen, a trend that has been associated with improved technology, which has lessened people’s physical movement. For instance, people can order for food and call for cabs, via mobile apps, thus limiting their physical movement, which is an important part of physical exercises. Moreover, overreliance on cheap fast food and lack of exercises have also led to this obese pandemic. Have you ever wondered why physically active people are quite active, most times of the day? The answer is clear; it is for the reason of improved blood circulation in the brain. For this reason, lack of exercises is clearly not beneficial to anyone, let alone the brain. Moreover, psychologists have from time to time advised individuals to engage in a little brain activity, through simple exercises such as yoga, to combat emotional stresses and improve their moods. One of the biggest problems we currently face as a society is obesity. People all over the nation question why we are having this problem and who is responsible. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), obesity is the body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, which is calculated based on the person’s height and weight. By considering obesity as a disease, their aim was to maximize researches and funding, which will focus on obesity from different medical and health approach levels. The institute declared, “ Obesity is a complex multifactorial chronic disease developing from multiple interactive influences of numerous factors.” In 2012, the CDC data showed 34.9% of adults obese and 17% of obese children. In our society today one of the most difficult problems we are facing is the large numbers of obesity in our children. One of the major factors in that is this; our children have become less physically active. At an early age children start watching TV, learn how to operate a computer, and play video games. Having technological skills is now a necessity in all of our lives because everything has turned “computerized,” but the fact is that our children are relying on these types of entertainment rather than getting up and physically exercising to entertain them selves. This directly affects the large number of obese children in our country today because of the lack of physical exercise. It is not that we want our kids to look a certain way or to be better at sports than everyone else, but it is that we want our kids to be physically fit and to develop a healthy lifestyle. Exercise reduces stress, improves your sleep and from it allows you to gain a social aspect consider as new friends.
