I-Search Paper “Should I Go into Computers”
1. What would I like to research?
I have always loved and enjoyed computers since I was a young boy. There are just so many different jobs and fields computer technology offers. I have a great deal of interest in the field of computers. I would like to gain more information of the many fields that the computers industry offers. I believe we all have seen computers or used them in our lives. I also believe the field will continue to grow. I can only hope one day I can develop software that everyone uses to make their lives easier.
2. What I already know?
What I know is there are a large number of different fields computers offer. Almost everything we do or see has some sort of computer use around us all the time. Stores like to use computer software for registers and doors triggered by sensors. Most schools offer classes online and my daughter who is in the third grade does most of her school homework online. I know they rely on computers for aerospace jobs such as, exploring space and planets with robotics. I know that I see people on cell phone everywhere I go. That show we as a human race depend on the use of computers. What computer field should I go into and what steps do I need to take to reach my goals?
3. The story of my search
When my research started out I had a few ideas about how to gather information. I started out brainstorming and writing what I thought I might know and what I did already know, but I would soon find out that I knew very little of most of the computer related jobs. There are a lot of different fields and that is due to the expanding of the computer field. There are new computer jobs being made or played with every day. Wage for computer related jobs ...

For a career, I would like to be involved in the fast developing computer industry and more particularly with the Internet. I think it has immense potential and I would like to be able to develop the Internet to make it help the lives of day to day people. In this way I would also like to help make computers more like humans with for example voice operated user interfaces.
If the nineteenth century was an era of the Industrial revolution in Europe, I would say that computers and Information Technology have dominated since the twentieth century. The world today is a void without computers, be it healthcare, commerce or any other field, the industry won’t thrive without Information Technology and Computer Science. This ever-growing field of technology has aroused interest in me since my childhood. After my twelfth grade, the inherent ardor I held for Computer Science motivated me to do a bachelors degree in Information Technology. Programming and Math, a paragon of logic and reasoning, have always been my favorite subjects since childhood.
Right now I have a fairly accurate idea concerning what I want to do with my life. My love for computers has taken me a long way and I have a strong feeling that I will continue in the field of computer science. Yet, I am also aware that I may change my mind several times before I begin a career. College will introduce me to new and various things, and I will develop new interests from this exposure. The world of technology is changing rapidly and computers seem like the best way to go. When I combine that and my love for computers I am almost certain that the field of computer science is right for me.
My career choices have changed through the years from mother and housewife through architect, accountant, or teacher, finally I have arrived at a computer career. The following is an idea of the path I have followed.
Since I first used a computer I have always had a strong interest in them, I learn new things but at the same time have fun doing it. Since about the age of 10 I've always known that I was a computer person and I knew that I would love a computing related job that's why I am applying for this course. After I finish my course I would love to work in a computing related job such as a games developer, software developer or a network specialist, I do enjoy many other areas of computing but I feel these are more suitable as I am a creative and hands on person.
Becoming a computer programmer would be great because there are many options in this career by having the ability to produce an operating system, or a game for the world. Computer programmers have many opportunities in life to find a job they would love. Programmers can work independently, or in a big company. Programmers have and are creating the future for computers.
My fascination with computers began from early high school when we had introductory computer classes. Further, programming and graphics lessons caught my imagination and soon computers became almost an obsession. This resulted in my choosing Computer Science for undergraduate studies. Artificial Intelligence is the area where I have chosen to set my foot in.
At the dawn of the information age, to be young, as Wordsworth said in another context, is very heaven. Getting to know what goes inside computers, the engines of the Information Technology revolution, and knowing how to work with them enables one to understand the technology that makes it all possible. Understanding this, I chose to do my undergraduate study in Electronics and Communications engineering.
Many things have lead up to my decision to choose a career in Information Systems. It started at my first semester at my local community college. I was enrolled in their graphic design program and most of the classes I was taking consisted of art classes. My first computer class was working in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. They are graphic programs that many graphic designerÕs use to make their design work. While working with these programs I was very intrigued by the power of computers and how they work. While going to school at the local community college I soon got a job at CitiMortgage working at the computer help desk. I was learning more about computers and networking which helped lead to my decision to change my degree of study to information systems.
I would say that this is the perfect career for me. My love for working computers is going to fit in perfectly with this career. The salary is pretty good. The training opportunities are very easy to find. The probability of finding a job in the Lubbock area is very high. I think I might get a very high amount of money before I retire as well. Yes, I still would like this career.
...ware and Software developers and Web designers are just some of the many new employment opportunities created with the help of IT. Probably new more jobs to come in more years.
Unlike many students who are unsure of the specialty they wish to pursue when entering college, my goal has always been to become a computer engineer. Becoming a computer engineer is not simply a decision I have taken lightly. I have thought very long and hard before deciding to pursue this career path.
Computers and Technology have fascinated me right from my childhood and I have always had it in my mind to choose Information Technology for my engineering. As the years passed my eagerness grew and so did my thirst to attain higher education and now is the perfect time for me to ignite the spark in me. This has given me the courage to analyze the fact that I have a herculean task ahead in order to comprehend an extensive proportion of subject and enjoy it while assimilating the problems.
As far as computers in the future, I feel that they are going to play a major role. They will be in everyday life, in everything we do. There will be many areas affected by the wide use of computers. Areas such as: home, work, schools, automobiles, electronics, and humans. Although these areas are already affected, they will be even more as we move into the future.
