This week I watched Pleasantville with my class. This movie was very different in my opinion. I have never seen this movie before I watched it in class. I personally liked this movie a lot. It is not the type of movie that I would have wanted to first watch with my classmates. There were some awkward scenes in this movie. When we watched the trailer of the movie in class, I definitely didn’t expect what we had actually gotten after watching the movie. I expected the movie to be more different than it was. It was funny, but also awkward. After seeing this film, and realizing what it was actually about the awkward scenes didn’t even bother me anymore. When the sister, in the movie wanted to stay in Pleasantville, it made me realize that I related to her a lot. I do not relate to the actions that she was doing earlier in the movie, but I relate to her when she realizes that there is more to the world than just the world that she was living in before. She was a typical girl in the world that she was living in, but once she realized that there was more to the world

The whole movie was very dramatic, but it was also funny. Another drama/comedy movie that I have seen is The Breakfast Club. The Breakfast Club relates to Pleasantville because the main characters in each movie are teenagers and each and every one of them are going through their own little type of drama. In The Breakfast Club, the kids end up telling each other about their lives and they all relate to each other in some way, but they are all totally different types of people. These two movies relate because of the realization that each character has in each movie about how life affects us all in different ways, we just need to take advantage of the good things that
In conclusion, I liked this movie because it showed women of very different backgrounds coming together, accepting each other, and becoming close friends during a crisis moment. In reality of today’s society, I saw that women are jealous against each other instead of working together. This movie shows the joy of overcoming differences and forming bonds with diverse women. In a very simple term, the director reminds us of the unique book of life that we each have. The other message is how the older are separate from society, because of their limitations and age. The older ladies in this movie shows us and other older people how to bloom again, and relive. In this movie they share their life, their tales, and their lessons from the past with us to change our typical mentality about older people.
It 's not always about how things look on the outside, but more about your inner self. More about getting those individuals to believe in themselves. The film helped me to see the value of building up self esteem. I know in math some of the kids that say they don’t like math just had a bad experience with it. Usually I’ll try and give them something simple just to start to let them feel a sense of accomplishment. Then I usually will continue to build from there. This film never gets old. It’s still very relatable today and a young audience would be able to see themselves in any of those characters. This film reminded me that kids are coming to class with many different experiences, emotional phases, as well as insecurities. I must remain cognizant of them along with continuing to be that positive role model they need. I would recommend this film to anyone that has kids they would like to keep encouraged as well the ones they believe are
“Pleasantville” Conflicts and clashes of all sizes occur throughout the movie. The conflicts cover a wide variety of subjects, from sexual morals to discovering something new about one’s own self. The movie plays out individual struggles along with tying these conflicts in with a larger story line. The setting of the story is a 1990’s family. The parents are divorced, the son is a TV watching geek and the daughter is rebellious and popular at school. The Mom is leaving for a weekend trip, Jennifer, the daughter, has a date that night and David plans an evening home watching ...
I really enjoyed the movie. It was entertaining and very informative. The reason I said it is informative is because of the information I have learned in this class. It caused me to pay close attention to the characters, especially Cologero and think about his actions and the reasoning behind them. I feel that this film is definitely related to subject material discussed in class. The main character is a juvenile who engages in a lot of delinquent behaviors and activities, much like the ones we focus on in class. While watching the movie, I was easily reminded of the information we went over in the previous class which made the movie more enjoyable. Especially since I was able to view the film from a different
The movie is, most likely, done well enough to intrigue its intended audience. It captured the theme and story line of the book. It falls short, though, when compared to the beautiful, sensitive and contemplative prose of Natalie Babbitt. One could only hope that a viewing of the film will lead the watcher to try the book and be delighted all the more.
I am not a big fan of black and white movies. They don’t interest me, especially because they are mysterious and dark most of the time. At the beginning I did not take much interest in it because I was confused of what was happening and why it was happening. After reviewing it with the class the beginning made sense, so the second time I was more focused on the movie than the first time where I was just in blank about it.
The audience for this text is for a wide range a people and family. This movie is a great family movie as it shows determination and the will to move beyond the past. Especially for those that perceive they don’t belong or are passively rejected. The director has used a inspiring film to persuade humans to move beyond there past. To forgive and forget.
In conclusion, if a person is looking for a great movie with suspense and an exciting ending about racism, than this movie would be highly recommended. This movie has several different emotions including, sad, happy, and straightforward. This movie gives the person watching it a great look at how racism was in the 1960’s and how it should've been. No matter what shape, color, or size a person may be, everybody deserves to be treated the same. I really did enjoy watching this movie and I would recommend it to
In my opinion, this movie is boring and confusing for the first time but, from the second time, this movie starts reveal the fascination. At the first time, I do not like this movie so much but after I watched second time, I became to like this movie. If I asked
The book and the movie were both very good. The book took time to explain things like setting, people’s emotions, people’s traits, and important background information. There was no time for these explanations the movie. The book, however, had parts in the beginning where some readers could become flustered.
This movie is a wonderful production starting from 1960 and ending in 1969 covering all the different things that occurred during this unbelievable decade. The movie takes place in many different areas starring two main families; a very suburban, white family who were excepting of blacks, and a very positive black family trying to push black rights in Mississippi. The movie portrayed many historical events while also including the families and how the two were intertwined. These families were very different, yet so much alike, they both portrayed what to me the whole ‘message’ of the movie was. Although everyone was so different they all faced such drastic decisions and issues that affected everyone in so many different ways. It wasn’t like one person’s pain was easier to handle than another is that’s like saying Vietnam was harder on those men than on the men that stood for black rights or vice versa, everyone faced these equally hard issues. So it seemed everyone was very emotionally involved. In fact our whole country was very involved in president elections and campaigns against the war, it seemed everyone really cared.
I really enjoyed the movie Girls Like Us. I liked watching these girls grow up and change their whole lives around. It showed how the science of sociology is present in everyday lives and relationships and how conflicts can change a person for the better or the worst. What a learned most from this movie was how structural functionalism really does play a major part of how we grow up no matter what our ethnic backgrounds may be.
Throughout the entire film, there are lessons that are being taught. Whether is the central theme of not judging someone by their skin color but by their character or showing the essence of what the meaning of family really is. Through the setting, acting, and relationships shown it all comes together to make the perfect film. I recommend this film be seen by everyone at least once in their lifespan, because the lessons that are depicted in there are valuable. It is the perfect movie to go see with your family and makes you grateful and thankful for everyone that you have in your life. The film brings joy, happiness, tears, laughter and much more. I can truly say that the movie is worth purchasing and viewing.
Although I enjoyed the main portion of the movie, there were some obvious likes and dislikes in my opinion. I believe that I learned from this movie and it helped me understand more of what the people of that time were feeling.
My favorite Emily Dickinson poem that we discussed in class was “If you were coming in the fall”. That is my favorite poem because it is like a love poem and she talks about if she could she would try and hurry time up so that way her and her love can be together at last. She was also talking about how if she could she would freeze time when her and her love is finally together so that way they can stay together forever and he wouldn’t have to leave. This is my favorite poem because it is something that I would love to do with my girlfriend when I can finally see her in person this summer. And I can relate to the poem because I want to be able stop time when I am finally with my girlfriend in person so that way I can spend a lot more time her
