“Wow this looks so good!” I exclaimed.
I gazed at the delicious looking tortilla stuffed to the maximum. “Thank you, I spent long hours working on them, they are my family’s secret recipe.” The mom of one of the kids that lived on my street said.
I could smell the spicy scent in the air. I picked up one of the tortilla on the red plastic plate. I looked at the tortilla stuffed with all sorts of different ingredients that smelled amazing, and I took a bite. The taste was an ecstatic party to my tastebuds I could taste the meat, cheese, small vegetables and other tastes I couldn’t identify at the time, but I knew they were perfect blend with the tastes I recognized. I have so many memories I keep, they made me realize things and taught me how to open my eyes to the world. The girl, Sophia, she’s older than me, she had told me everything. She used to tell me about places she had been, people she met, and all in between. This had showed me the world is much different than my little two street neighborhood next to a forest in Madison, New Jersey. The brother of Sophia, Nick, is the same age as me, had shown me and taught me how to be competitive and yearn to win. Sophia is a very competitive person, so she taught me how to always want to win competitions. All the kids in our neighborhood would often play manhunt, kick the can, and other super competitive games. Sophia used to yell at me during the games, “Come on, win! Anything below first place is losing!” The words she said to me made me want to prevail. I had always felt determined like a lion who yearns to get their prey. Both Nick and Sophia have always been there for me and I am here for them too. It felt so melancholy moving away from them, I could still see Nick in school, but Sophia I wouldn’t see as much, it wouldn’t be the same knowing that they aren’t right next door. I would also miss the Esposito family, all four kids their parents, and I can’t forget about the dogs. About a year before I had moved, the Espositos got an above ground pool, we used to swim it every day
