Making the switch, making the change, being able to live healthier and to be proud of that is a difficult, but amazing thing to do. Before any physical changes should be made, I think it all has to start with mental health. There are many different ways to achieve a good mental health and to get into the right state of mind to make these healthy changes. Self-acceptance, self-help programs and stepping outside of the box are all associated with mentally getting in the right frame of mind to make healthier lifestyle choices. There are many, many different ways to make this start but in my opinion, these are the most important and most efficient. Self-acceptance is the most important part about mental health. Accepting yourself, who you are and your body is an extremely important part about mental health and even physical health. Making healthy changes in your life is never an easy thing. Self-acceptance is in my opinion the first step, and the most important step in successfully making these changes. I read somewhere that if you did not love yourself before the change, you will not love yourself fully after the change. We must first appreciate ourselves for who we are, or it will always be an ongoing battle with us. In my experience, I had tried to make healthy changes many times before, but I was never happy with who I was, so one day, I decided that I needed to first love myself. I started slowly but surly, accepting more and more of who I was. It all fell into place after that. I had changed my eating habits, I was very active and would visit the gym 5 days out of the week, sometimes more. It was all so much easier to stay on track with from that point. If we cannot be okay with the shape, size, color or other details about our bodies and always be expecting to make ourselves look just like someone else or look a certain impossible way, we will never be happy with ourselves and we will always be let down. Filling your mind with things that will spread good, positive thoughts are always a good idea. There is never too much happiness. By reading, or watching or associating with anything that attributes to self-help is a good thing for a healthy mindset. We need to be in the proper mindset to change for the better and these things help us to do that. They are sort of like motivation. In a lot of these books they tell you how to "feed the soul". Which means to "feed the soul" with happiness. These lifestyle changes help you to feel really great and to lead a better life, It is just initially difficult to take those first steps. A lot of the time it is because people think they can 't do it. That is the wrong mindset and won 't stretch you very far. A change in routine is something that needs to be adapted to, which is hard. These motivational programs that help people to be leading on to the right path have saved many. People often do not think they work as good as they do. These things don 't only have to be used before or at the beginning of the change, but throughout the persons life. It can be beneficial to continue with even many many years after the fact, becuase it is an ongoing process. Even when that goal is hit, we don 't just stop, we maintain it, so why stop reading/watching
Healthy People 2020 is a program for the promotion of health and the prevention of diseases, launched by the Department of Health and Human Services in December 2010. According to healthypeople.gov, this program has four overarching goals which are first to achieve healthy, longer lives free of preventable diseases, injuries, and premature deaths; to achieve health fairness, eliminate differences, and improve all groups’ health; also to produce social and physical environments that encourage good health; and last but not least to promote life’s quality, healthy development, and healthy behaviors through all life stages. This program has a vision of a community where people live long, healthy lives. Healthy People 2020 offers a comprehensive set of 10 years of nationwide goals and objectives that is meant to improve the health of the American population. Healthy People 2020 covers 42 topic areas with approximately 600 objectives, which include 1,200 measures. A smaller set of Healthy People 2020 objectives, has been designated to communicate high-priority health issues and actions that can be taken to address them, this objectives are called Leading Health Indicators. The program goes above and beyond these health indicators in order to provide the best care for the people of this country. These indictors cover from the access of health service, nutrition, physical activity, and obesity to substance abuse, environmental quality, injury and violence.

In the twenty-first century, most people follow societal norms, whether they are good or bad for them because people rarely make individual changes unless it becomes a mainstream idea or movement. Health values, although is one of the most talked about movements today. Information is available to direct people to a healthier, longer life. This information has not always been easily accessible, but is now a focus for health care. An interesting factor though is the amount of people willing to risk their health to continue their unhealthy lifestyles.
Health shapes our life, if you practice bad health practices, chances are you’re often sick, overweight, disease, or other medical issue. There are three main points of a person’s health, not just their physical health. The three parts are; social, mental/emotional, and of course physical. Setting health goals depends on age, body, and health of a person. I am 14 years old, and I am 5 feet tall, around 100 pounds. I’m generally the correct size for someone of my age. Though, it’s hard to achieve perfect health.
When talking about health, if people is able to visualize what is good (healthy) and what is bad for health, they will choose the option that does not harm them.
Historically, the nursing profession has been actively involved in the health promotion and disease prevention among the general public. However, while caring for others, nurses often neglect their personal safety, which ultimately results in the high level of work-related injuries. Failure to timely address risk factors for nursing can have dire consequences for patient outcomes, since it is often associated with increased medication errors and patient falls, poor quality of care, and permanent disability of the nursing staff (Stokowski, 2014).
Nutritional needs change throughout various stages of life. Nutrition is dependent on many other factors such as physiological, behavioral and social changes. With these changes occurring in humans it puts them at risk for many diseases when proper nutrition is not received. Let’s go ahead and take a look on what factors can increase our risk for disease.
What it means to be healthy are the ways in which you treat your body positively. This would include emotional, physical, mentally, socially and the foods you consume on a daily basis. In those aspects it would mean to keep your body in good shape, keep yourself emotionally and mentally stable, and having a good relationship with not only the people around you but with yourself. Being healthy to me does not mean that you do not have a disease because, there are people who have diseases but are healthier than some of us who do not have a disease. Being healthy means to give your body the proper nutrition it needs and not stuffing it with processed and unhealthy foods.
There are plenty of people that do not pay close attention to the nutrition labels on food or do not understand what’s in the food that we eat. If we are expecting the parents, adults, or some of the children to be healthy and are not able to read the nutrition label, how can we expect them to have healthy lifestyles? In order for this new generation be healthy and active. We need to provide them with the support and resources they need. In order, to have a healthy routine. We should be able to offer the support that needs to be able to receive a better outcome for our future generations and as well as the current one.
I think a mentally healthy community would be filled with an abundance of resources and opportunities for everyone in need of assistance. Having accessibility to therapists, crisis lines, social services, physical therapy, correctional facilities, affordable health care, affordable housing, and mental hospitals would be a good step towards a mentally healthy community.
When people think of the term health most of the time people think of it in terms of the physical aspect. But, really the term health is made up from several different terms such as class, race, gender, education, and income which can all affect a person 's health in many different ways. A person 's health can be affected positively and negatively because of different social determinants.

Across the country, many people are living with pre-existing conditions, living in food deserts, living below the poverty line and a long list of other factors that either hinders them from eating healthy or force them to eat healthily. When trying to live a healthy lifestyle in this country not only does the promotion of prevention matter, but also the promotion of Career and job opportunities matter just as much. In the United States, Money equals Power and money also equal the opportunity to create and live a healthier lifestyle.
A healthy lifestyle is usually picked up as we get older. However, think of how much more beneficial it would be for our bodies when we get older, if we would have learned and adapted to a healthier lifestyle when we were younger? Teaching your kids how important a healthy diet is, will help them maintain that lifestyle in their older years. Not to mention have lower health risks, higher self-esteem and it will give them the energy they need to keep up with their eating habits and maintain their body weight.
