Most of the students that live on campus are west residents. These students are only allowed to park on the West side of campus, or they will get a parking ticket. There are four dorms on this side of campus and they all share a small parking lot by Madison, the few parking spaces along University Avenue, and one parking lot between Commons and Ouachita Hall. This parking lot that is behind Commons is half gravel and it doesn’t have parking spots drawn on it. Students park really far away from each other and take up more room than necessary. They get many parking tickets, because they end up having to park in the commuter or faculty parking lots. If the students can’t find a parking spot, they are almost guaranteed a ticket. To fix this problem, the university could build a parking garage in place of the gravel parking lot to create more spaces for the students. If they were to build this garage, tickets would no longer be an issue. It wouldn't be impossible to find a parking spot anymore because of the multiple levels of the garage. There would be an equal amount of parking spots and students. However, it could be quite expensive to build a parking garage. This would make more space for parking and the students wouldn't have to park so far away from each other. A concrete parking lot would be a more convenient and easier way to park. Students would have lines to park in between, so they wouldn't have to park so far away from each other anymore. This would create more parking spaces for the west residents to park in. This wouldn’t be the best solution, because it would be very expensive to pour concrete. This would also mean that this part of the parking lot would close for a while and students would have an even harder time trying to find a parking
