Professionalism starts in schools, the five ways workplace professionalism starts in schools are, punctuality, good attendance, collaboration, conformity, and problem solving. By being punctuality in school it shows the instructor and your classmates that you are being serried about your school work. By being serious and being on time for school it makes students more apt to going to work each day and being at work at the correct time which shows your employer that you are professional. Students who skip school often are not as likely to have good work attendance. Grades are impacted by the students attendance. Collaboration is effected because group assignments are assigned and its hard for students to accomplish all that is needed if their whole group is not present. It could also be that if a student learns how to collaborate with their peers future employees will find that beneficial to their work team. By having good team work skills the student is more likely to be taken seriously in the work place. Conformity is defined as compliance with standards, rules, or laws. If students are taught that there are rules established in the classroom it is likely to help them in the future. By learning that rules exist it will help them be prepared in the future for jobs that rules will be needed to ensure the employers safety, customers safety, and the employee themselves safety. The final point that professionalism in the workplace starts in school is problem solving. If problem solving strategics are learned as a student the student will become a better worker. When learning new tasks that their jobs will require, the problem solving techniques previously learn will benefit the student by allowing them to have more experience of figuring things out on their own rather than having to have someone show them step for step what is needed to be done. I believe that if professionalism is taught while in school it will help students become more apt to keeping a job and being successful at the career that they choose.
Punctuality is another thing that I have learned in NJROTC, but with much hard work did I learn this. We all know that we slip up sometimes and slag around from class to class. Because of this we make ourselves late sometimes, and no one wants to get a tardy, so our instructors offer a healthy alternative. If you are late to class then you have the option of doing push-ups or getting a tardy, now witch would you rather do? Not only does this punishment instill punctuality, but if you are hard headed you can build up incredible upper body strength. Being punctual to a job will allow me to keep it and also impress my bosses.
