In the age of mass media, art has grown from traditional and simple imagery to something more. Art is now everywhere, from music to movies and even things that everyone uses. Time has changed the definition of art, breaking old barriers to open the gates for more and new ideas to be put on the table to experiment with. Art has now become universally accepted as a platform of expression, with the medium becoming anything as long as the person can perceive and execute their imagination. The expansive amounts of culture is now being easily mixed with the use of the internet and people are able to listen, watch and look at other cultures in an instant and learn about new styles, food and music. Sometimes by looking in a new light, artists may have a second chance at being recognized, like Manet and Toulouse-Lauctrec which were the starters for some movements for the era of realism and minimalism (D'Angelo). Their work wouldn’t be recognized until much later, since during that time people wouldn’t accept this new style of art for its simplicity or the expressive nudity (D'Angelo). With the use of perception, new aspiring artists can look at older artworks and produce a new style based on the older ones with a twist on their own (Landi). By allowing people to critique and look at art in different viewpoints, makes people less restrictive on the artist’s work. Also, by allowing artworks to be views with different ideas creates more meaning and understanding to a somewhat simple or complex piece of art. There are now art classes asking the question on whether movies and entertainment are truly considered an art medium (Guthrie). There are many overlapping forms in these new media forms of art and some are considered art while there are new concepts creating a new form on its own (Guthrie). These fusions are creating a new form of art where it’s no longer considered just art but as more multimedia. The new media format is changing the core concept of art and allowing itself to change into this social media concept or an interaction piece (Pereira). These new art forms are blurring the lines of artworks and social displays for new media technologies. By allowing people to differentiate fine and modern art versus the new media art forms, people can understand the difference between these two mediums and understand the importance they both hold and not blur these two
