“Similar Forms”
1. Choose two objects that have similar form (shape). One must be from nature and the other manifested
2. Draw them on newsprint, in single-line and have them approved
3. Combine the two outlines (overlay them) to make a third, new shape like an abstract. IT should not save the design of either original object.
4. Cut oak tag 10x16 and put your name on it.
5. Draw all 3 objects in single-line, same size, evenly spaced on the oak tag.
6. Paint using neatness, clean up is very important!!!!
7. Mount with a 1” border and label properly, use elmers glue.
** Color of mounting paper should be a color from your picture that you want to enhance.**

The two films Psycho and The Birds, both directed by Alfred Hitchcock, share similar themes and elements. These recurring themes and elements are often prevalent in many of Hitchcock’s works. In Psycho and The Birds, Hitchcock uses thematic elements like the ideal blonde woman, “the motherly figure”, birds, and unusual factors that often leave the viewer thinking. Hitchcock’s works consist of melodramatic films, while also using pure cinema to help convey messages throughout the film.
"A shape is that which limits a solid; in a word, a shape is the limit of a solid."
In terms of composition, this painting is well balanced especially in the background. First, because of the three figures form a triangle shape, and second, the background is divided into two big triangle shapes, because the left bottom side brighter than the upper right side. The big shape of tree also divides the background as triangle shapes; therefor the viewer can more easily recognize the boundary between the light and dark side. For example, the trunk of the right side makes a vertical line following the darkness, and a big branch divides the bright side and dark side as a diagonal demarcation line.
Everybody knows Alfred Hitchcock is the master of suspense and is known for inciting fear in the hearts of his audience. His multiple, fast cuts directs his audience to what he wants them to see and feel. Close-ups of the actors faces clearly shows what the characters are feeling and forces the audience to feel the same emotions. With all his expert directing skills, is there any meaning behind what he chooses to portray in his films or is it all for show? Could there be a deeper meaning to his films? The answer to these questions is a firm yes. Hitchcock’s past experiences guided him to be the director he was. The inadequateness of the police, control of all details in his films, and long stretches of no dialogue all portrayed in his films are all directly correlated to Hitchcock’s early life and early professional life.

...ying on them. Although voyeurism is seen as wrong, it was committed by Jeff to show the lengths some individuals would go to during the McCarthy era to ensure their neighbours weren’t communist. A convention of the attention to ordinary details such as the close-up of the thermometer (showing a high temperature) in the opening scene, serves as a purpose for Jeff to begin his window-watching recreation. Lisa reminds Jeff that, “… sitting around looking out of the window to kill time is one thing but doing it the way you are with binoculars and wild opinions about every little thing you see is – is diseased!” Her warning affirms what people of their context were doing out of political paranoia. Being hard-boiled, the film gave Hitchcock the freedom to bend the conventions and make a serious comment that suspicious neighbours may actually be guilty of horrible crimes.
His way of leaving the audience on their seats while still telling a good story was what made Hitchcock an outstanding director and writer. His 50s films are known for their interesting cinematography. This includes people hanging off Mount Rushmore and The Statue of Liberty. Or the classic scene of Cary Grant being chased by a airplane. The only way to get rid of my fears is to make films about them,” is what Hitchcock said about his film making. He had this to say “Always make the audience suffer as much as possible.” These movies would lead Hitchcock in to one of his most classic film, Psycho. These are also the movies that pave the way for horror and suspense films. Hitchcock said this once about building suspense, “Four people are sitting around a table talking about baseball or whatever you like. Five minutes of it. Very dull. Suddenly, a bomb goes off. Blows the people to smithereens. What does the audience have? Ten seconds of shock. Now take the same scene and tell the audience there is a bomb under that table and will go off in five minutes. The whole emotion of the audience is totally different because you've given them that
...the other end there are only two. Such a figure is an impossible figure. It is possible, because, the depth cues and shape cues of one part of the figure do not have to be consistent with the depth and shape cues of another part of the same figure.
The International Labor Organization’s recognition of prostitution as a legal form of work could protect rights of sex workers, if the prostitution is legal. In addition, sex workers may be less hesitant to use laws to protect themselves, when clients or pimps victimize them. Legalized the sex trade not only effectively protects sex workers’ rights of labor from being infringed, but also is a way to show respect to them and to the human rights. In a study of Canada’s criminal prostitution laws, the author states that, people think prostitutes’ behavior is criminalized, and they are socially stigmatized, which is often prevented them from obtaining other work and therefore perpetuates prostitution (Art Hanger 72). The reality shows it is true that sex workers are often punished much more harshly and are prosecuted more frequently than customers. The legalization of the sex trade could probably change this situation by facing sex workers with less prejudge and more understanding and it might help sex workers into mainstream
When I was young and saw the picture like the figure1, I think it was not real. It cannot happen in the earth. Maybe someone did Photoshop to edit and retouch the colorful colors in that picture. However, it is a natural phenomenon that happened in the earth 's atmosphere. Galileo Galilei named this phenomenon as "Aurora Borealis." I have three areas of information about auroras to advise you: what aurora borealis is, where the aurora borealis typically seen is, and comparison and contrast this information with Witch Child.
The best view of the Aurora Borealis can be seen commonly in the Northern Hemisphere, hence
In suspense moments the viewer gets involved in what is happening on the screen, he feels as a direct participant in the events that unfold in the film. The most important thing is the ability of the director to suspense and mystery. Hitchcock had the ability to involve the viewer in a movie. The verdict of the three movies Sabotage, The Man Who Knew Too Much, and Psycho is Alfred Hitchcock designed everything to achieve what he believe was the important distinction “mystery” vs. “suspense”. He has done it with great attention to the applicable musical accompaniment, delivery of information to the audience, and penetration of
Shapes are two- dimensional surfaces such as circles or squares, and forms are three-dimensional shapes like spheres or cubes. A concave form has a pushed-in surface like the inside of a bowl and a convex form has a raised surface like the outside of a bowl. When you are looking at shapes and forms, the shape that you see first is called a figure or positive shape and the area around it is called the ground or the negative shape. The natural curves in different objects, such as trees or clouds are called organic shapes. Geometric shapes and forms are precise and regular such as cubes, pyramids, and circles. A free-form is an irregular invented shape or form that has qualities of a geometric form or an organic form.

What is the aurora? It is like a neon sign. You have particles streaming that collide with particle; molecules or atoms, they can either excite molecules and atoms or break them apart. When the molecules are broken apart they release photons. So its like a shower of breaking molecules and creates these cascades. So it’s like a shower happening all the way down to the lower atmosphere. So what I learned is that is all quantum mechanics. It is very interesting to know that it is a chemical process going on. Since the beginning of time, people have told stories and legends to explain natural, but mysterious, occurrences. The Northern Lights is one example. The Vikings thought the shining weaponry of immortal warriors caused the Northern Lights.
