In order to plan a successful event there are a lot of things that must be done to make sure that everything runs smoothly, no matter what the event may be. The International Event Management Body of Knowledge (EMBOK) Model allows planners to make sure they are getting every detail of their event planned in order to have a successful event whether it be a wedding, fundraiser, concert or business meeting. The EMBOK is important when it comes to creating a framework of the knowledge and processes that are used when planning an event. Events cost money and if you want to splurge an extra $1000 on food then you are going to have to take that $1000 from somewhere else such as venue. The next section are the Design Domain Classes which include catering, content, entertainment, environment, production, program and theme. These classes refer to the goals of the event. Each of these subcategories all need to relate back to the main goal of the event. For example, if you are planning a 50th wedding anniversary party for an older couple your entertainment is not going to be the best new DJ that plays in the local bars. Along with this, you should consider the environment that the couple would prefer to be in. It is important to take things like this into consideration to make sure that all parties involved are satisfied and understand the common goal. The third domain class is the Marketing Domain. These classes include the marketing plan, materials, merchandise, promotion, public relations, sales and sponsorship.
