Hiring people with disabilities seems to be an increasing situation in the states. The United States try to make sure that every individual disabled or not disabled is treated equally, especially when it comes to working environments. They make sure that disabled people are treated as equal as the non-disabled people by creating The Americans with Disabilities Act. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires any employer with 15 or more employees to provide reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities, unless doing so would cause undue hardship. This is because just as well as you have employees with disabilities you have even more customers with disabilities. Customers with disabilities and their families, friends and associates represent a trillion dollar making market. They are like other market segments, purchase products and services from companies that best meet their needs. A large number of Americans also say they prefer to praise businesses that hire people with disabilities. Another of the benefits of employing people with disabilities is increasing your opportunity to gain a lasting customer base. Importantly, the Executive Order makes the goal set forth in Executive Order 13163 of hiring 100,000 people with disabilities into the Federal Government over 5 years, including individuals with targeted disabilities. People with disabilities represent the single largest and most diverse minority in the United States and are a major source of qualified candidates. Professionals in the field of workplace disability believe that employers have not tapped into this workforce because they are unaware of the range of their skills, or do not know how to identify the individuals as potential employees. Employers are missing out on a golden opportunity to hire well-trained, qualified people who also bring to the job unsurpassed loyalty, dedication, and commitment. Aside from having equal or higher performance ratings compared to workers without disabilities, workers with disabilities have the lowest attrition rates of any employee group in this country. With that being said, they get the job done, and they stay on the job. I personally think that disabled people on a job are sometimes the better worker.
