Essentially, your education is the path to your future, right? You graduate high school, go to college, and pick a career that will hold you until you retire or die. When picking a good school, you have to think about your future. A school that can ensure the safety of the students, provide knowledge on legal rights and the government, and know that you and the community will be a part of decision making when a controversial subject may come up, are all good aspects a school should have.

A parent of a student wants to be able to drop their child off at school every day without worrying about the safety of their child. A school must make sure, at all times, that a child is safe from physical and mental harm. If a student feels that they are not going to be safe at school, they won't want to come to school. A student's attendance is very important if they want to be able to get into a good college, or if even if they want to graduate on time. Not only will the student attend school more often, but they will attend school feeling less stressed. Being bullied or worrying about whether someone is going to harm you in any way can put a lot of stress on an adolescent and on the parent. The parent should not be worrying about if their child's safety is at risk. Soon enough, if the school is careless and doesn't pay much attention

to the safety of the students, the residents in the community that have children will not want their children attending that particular school. In the end, there would be no point in having that school running because fewer and fewer parents will enroll their child.
Let's keep it simple, students should know how the government works, and their rights. Let's face it, knowing your legal rights can better your life. When you know how the government works, and the history behind how your legal rights came, it allows you to be smarter about your decisions. For example, how many people can say that they can explain what the 1st amendment really means? Saying that you have the freedom of speech is much more than that. You can just say anything that you want and get away with it. Until I learned that, I thought it meant that I couldn't legally get in trouble for saying something. Not only will it improve the knowledge of the individual, there will be less criminal behavior in the student. Think about this for a second. If a teacher or a parent doesn't bother to talk to a child about the laws, can you really expect the child to abide by the laws? You need knowledge of the rules before you can break the rule, right?
When there is an argument in your home, and it can affect you or even someone that you are responsible for and care about a lot, you would want to be a part of the decision making, right.

Same goes for school. The community wants to be able to count on the school that will include them whenever a controversial subject comes up, especially if it may affect them or their child. Not only that, but it will set a foundation of trust in the school with the parents. Knowing that you have a say in your child's future, can put the community and the parents at ease. Honestly, it's easier to start out with a sturdy foundation

anyway.
The next time that you want to enroll your child in a school, make sure its perfect. You should have a say in your child's future, and shouldn't be stressed when dropping you kid off at school. Make sure the school is a safe environment, for you and for them. And if you want your child to grow up knowing from right and wrong when it comes to the legal system, check and see if the constitution is in the school curriculum. These are just a few tips on how to enroll your child in the best school possible. Take a stand, be apart of your child's life, and make a positive impact. This is the right way to start.
