William Golding was born on September 19,1911 in St Columb Minor, England. His mom fought for equal rights for women and his dad was a school master. William Golding tried to write his first book when he was just twelve years old, but he failed. That did not stop him and went on to attend Oxford University and studied English literature. William Golding even published a book a year before he was to graduate, but of course was looked over by many critics. He became a teacher like his father, but then decided to join the Royal Navy and spent six years fighting in World War II. He went back to writing and teaching after World War II ended and nine years later he published his most famous piece of work, Lord of the Flies.

William Golding, the author of the novel The Lord of the Flies, lived through the global conflicts of both world wars. World War II shifted his point of view on humanity, making him realize its inclination toward evilness. His response to the ongoing struggle between faith and denial became Lord of the Flies, in which English schoolboys are left to survive on their own on an uninhabited island after a plane crash. Just like Golding, these boys underwent the trauma of war on a psychological level. Ralph, one of the older boys, stands out as the “chief,” leading the other victims of war in a new world. Without the constraints of government and society, the boys created a culture of their own influenced by their previous background of England.

William Golding, in his fictional novel Lord of the Flies, has created one of the most stunningly elaborate, captivating works of American literature. It is a straightforward story of a few shipwrecked schoolboys that dramatically turns into a multifaceted tale of endless deceit, trickery and all out jealousy. It is in this story that three boys, Ralph, Piggy, and Jack, come to play the pivotal parts of leaders to a group of children who are fighting for the right of survival.
An author’s way of writing and portraying a character are one of the important things to note when reading a novel. Whether they use third or first person as their view point, have their main character have an underlying dark secret that is not revealed until the end of the novel. However an author wishes to write their novel, there is always a drawback to it. Kazuo Ishiguro’s way of writing his novel Never Let Me Go is in a first person perspective where the narrator, Kathy H., reassess her life of being a clone but the way Kathy remembers and discusses her memories of living in Hailsham is hindered by the fact she inputs her own feelings and thoughts into what happened in the past.
The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, was first published in 1954. This fabulous story is about a group of English schoolboys who get stranded on an island after a plane accident. Some say that this story is considered a political allegory because it shows different types of governments and in many ways represents our society. These boys have different views on decision-making and ethical decisions which cause dramatic changes in the way everyone fights for survival. The Lord of the Flies was Golding’s first novel which soon became a very popular and instructive novel for high school and college students. Golding was born in 1911 and passed away in 1993. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1983. “His novels which, with the perspicuity of realistic narrative art and the diversity and universality of myth, illuminate the human condition in the world of today” (Nobel Foundation, 1983, http://www.william-golding.co.uk/person.html). The two types of governments in this novel were: totalitarian and democratic. Ralph started as leader of the crew and represented the democratic government. Jack, in the other hand, represented the totalitarian government which was introduced later in the novel and started out as a small rebel group. These two characters in the novel were the ones who made the big decisions. One worried about the future and being rescued, while the other wanted to have fun and live the moment. Over all, Golding does a good job implying how our society works and the different consequences that occur when the community looses logical and ethical thinking.
William Golding was born on the 19 of September in Cornwall, England, and he decided to be a writer when he was only 7 years old. From the very beginning he studied natural science, but he became wearied of that so he began to study English literature and Physics, which he also got degree in. 1935 he made his debut with a poetry collection, but he didn't like to be a poet. His real debut was in 1954 with this book "Lord of the Flies". He continued writing and after several short stories, histories, dramas and articles he was selected to receive the Nobel's Prize of literature in 1983. William has also written The Inheritors, Free Fall, the Spire, Darkness Visible and many more.
In William Golding's Lord of the Flies a group of kids who are fleeing a war, plane crashes and they are stranded on a deserted island without Adult supervision. The first thing all the kids do is vote for a chief and Ralph, who is more responsible, wins over Jack. They are the choices because Ralph is the Colonel of the whole group and Jack is the oldest out of all the boys. As the story goes on and when Jack starts his own group all of the kids lose sight of their main goal, to be rescued. They're all having too much fun when they switch over to Jack's group hunting and killing for food. In the story there are four main characters that are in a sense the leaders of the crew. There's Piggy and a quiet Simon who do not possess the scrappiness that Ralph and Jack do. These strengths are what help Ralph and Jack survive. Piggy is always talking about how his Auntie would not let him do this or that and Simon was just a quiet, reserved kid who is regarded as weird just due to the fact that he is calm.
“As a child, I loved athletics and physical activities. I was talented, but my talent was not appreciated or approved of by most. I watched my brothers compete on school teams. It didn't matter that in the neighborhood pick-up games, I was selected before my brothers. Society dictated that I should watch, and that they should compete. So at home in the backyard, I would catch as my brother worked on his curve ball, I would shag flies as he developed his batting prowess and, as I recall, I frequently served as his tackling dummy. The brother I caught and shagged for, and for whom I served as a tackling dummy, went on to Georgetown University on a full athletic grant. He later became vice president of a large banking firm. So, while I rode in the back seat on the bus of opportunity during my lifetime, I want my daughter's daughter and her peers to be able to select a seat based on their abilities and their willingness to work. Don't deny them the things that I dreamed of."-- Excerpts of a letter sent to OCR in spring 1995 by Joan Martin, Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Monmouth University, New Jersey
The common statement “Beauty is pain” is something a girl would completely understand. We understand it and accept it because we know the final product of our hair, face or body will be worth whatever pain we put it through. Maybe there is truth to this statement because everyone has tried some kind of diet where we select the salad instead of that amazing cheeseburger. These sacrifices can be pretty painful, but we continue to give in knowing we will improve our overall health. Exercising, which is another sacrifice made to better our health, can also be extremely painful and any person that has ever gone on a hard run knows exactly what that pain is. But, in addition to getting your body in shape, running goes beyond toning and strengthening muscles or loosing a few pounds. Running has so many benefits that many people don’t even know about. As little as thirty minuets of running during the week can do wonders for a persons health. (Allen, 2014) That doesn’t sound too painful now, does it? In fact, running benefits a person’s mind, body, and age.
How would today’s world be if the technology that is known and loved by millions suddenly vanished? Could the world re-adapt to the lack of technology, or would it plummet into Darkness and Despair? In actuality, if someone can develop artificial intelligences to a certain limit he or she can prevent many of the world’s future problems. In a sense, Mankind can benefit greatly from the further use and development of Artificial Intelligence although some people would have one believe that the further development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can endanger large areas around the world.
“For most of my life, I went to unisex salons that reeked of perm chemicals and mousse. Every time I’d go, I’d walk away with a bad haircut. On top of that, I always felt out of place”(Lemon Sunrise). This demonstrates that going to a unisex salon is never going be the same thing as a barbershop because no matter what most of the times the haircut is never going be as good as it should be. Another thing that is always going be bad about that too is that as a male client you're always going feel out of place because the other clients that go there are females not males clients. Barbering is the best way to service clients when it comes to hair.
