Hey Kids! I know it can be hard but try to remember when we were kids how much we all loved to wake up early on Saturday morning, sneak to the T.V., and watch our favorite cartoons. We loved to do this not only so that we could see our favorite characters go through troublesome dilemmas each episode, but also that we could see what was new on the market and try to convince our parents to spare a few dollars and buy it. This tactic has been used from years upon years and will likely continue occurring for the simple reason that it works. Businessmen in the marketing know that kids will see the latest and greatest thing and insist to their parent that they must have it. And with a little persistence and maybe a temper tantrum or two, they usually get it. Sometime commercials will appeal to not only the child, but also to parents because they can see the new toys that they are able to buy for their kids. Because there is always a constant demand for new toys, there will always be a entrepreneur trying to make money by creating a product, and market it in the way of commercialization. It is a never ending cycle which will always occur as long as there is T.V. because it is how they make their money. It had been years since I had woken up early on a Saturday morning to watch the “early bird” cartoons so when we were told to pick a show I knew what it would be, HEY ARNOLD! HEY ARNOLD! is played on NICKELODEON in the morning each day of the week. HEY ARNOLD! is a cartoon about a group of young kids that live in the city and go to school together. A similar theme that many kids can relate to. I used to watch this show as a kid and I knew that they still played it on KICKELODEON so I woke up at the same time that I used to watch it, 7:00 a.m., although it was not on until 8 a.m. it was okay. I sat down from 8 o’clock until 9 and watch two episodes of the show. When I thought about what commercials I would see I had a pretty good idea. Sitting down and watching them proved my ideas correct. Before I sat down to watch the show I made a list of types of commercials I thought would be on just to see if I would be right.
What makes a T.V. commercial memorable? Is it the product you remember or just the commercial itself? Many times it could be both, depending on the person that’s watching the commercial. Sitting down to watch the television is more than just enjoying your favorite TV show; it’s about seeing the different types of commercial that comes with it. Commercials will play a huge role in today’s society.
The Jordan Spieth commercial used humor to a track my attention. It was only a 30 second
Today’s commercials cloud the viewers’ brains with meaningless ritzy camera angles and beautiful models to divert viewers from the true meaning of the commercials. The advertisers just want consumers to spend all of their hard-earned money on their brand of products. The “Pepsi” and “Heineken” commercials are perfect examples of what Dave Barry is trying to point out in his essay, “Red, White and Beer.” He emphasizes that commercial advertisements need to make viewers think that by choosing their brands of products, viewers are helping out American society. As Rita Dove’s essay “Loose Ends” argues, people prefer this fantasy of television to the reality of their own lives. Because viewers prefer fantasy to reality, they become fixated on the fantasy, and according to Marie Winn in “Television Addiction,” this can ultimately lead to a serious addiction to television. But, one must admit that the clever tactics of the commercial advertisers are beyond compare. Who would have thought the half naked-blondes holding soda cans and American men refusing commitment would have caught viewers’ attention?
The commercial that I chose as my favorite commercial from the night was the Colgate Save Water commercial. The creators of the advertisement used all three of the modes of persuasion: logos, ethos, and pathos to appeal to the target audience. Knowing that over 100 million people would be tuning in to view the Super Bowl game as well as the commercials, the creators knew what appealing approach to take regarding the audience.
One of the commercials that I chose personally, is Proactiv. I chose this particular commercial because I can relate to what the commercial is trying to point out. I struggled when I was younger with acne, just like everybody else. This commercial is passed on television during the week. I would hear different stories from people who struggle with their own acne and it made me want to make a change for myself. Most of all, I noticed that people were getting rid of acne as they used the product.
advertising is becoming a bigger role in the lives of youth. Since deregulation in 1984, the money advertisers make off of kids has been increasing by millions each year. kids who don't even have the brain function to make a good choice on what they buy are being targeted as young as 5. As young kids become more accustomed to certain products young, they continue buying them over their whole life. This is what advertisers are causing by targeting the youth. Advertisers are finding that marketing to kids makes a lot of money, the youth believe everything they hear, and the advertising techniques they do today are almost sure to work.
These commercials targets adults and all income brackets. they motivate the audience who are tired of their current jobs, need a change in c...

This display of advertising actually made me want to go into the advertising field a bit. I do not know how I feel now anymore, but such creativity made me want to have a hand in the creation of just really awesome stuff like that. CBS’ “The Crazy Ones” also makes advertising seem like an amazing field to be in with their showing snippets of what the creative side could look like and the stunts that the show’s characters have pulled. It is a whole new world in the life of advertisements just compared to how it was when I was a kid; tomorrow is sure to bring even more astounding surprises from the world’s craziest artists.

The first commercial I chose was the Tide commercial with Kelly Ripa. The commercial depicts a small dinner party occurring at Ms. Ripa’s house. A guest clumsily spills wine on her white table linen and Ms. Ripa jumps into action to clean it. Theatrically, she pulls the white table linen cover from under all the glasses on her table and none mysteriously break. She then proceeds to tell her guests to follow her enthusiastically with the linen in tow. An hour passes, and the viewer sees Ms. Ripa giving a detailed breakdown of the laundry detergent and how well it can clean garments. Shortly after, she exclaims that the group and herself should then clean the napkins and everyone looks at her funny. The second commercial I chose was the Old
Handy Manny is an animated children’s television show that was first aired on September 16, 2006 as originally part of Disney channel’s playhouse and aired its final episode on February 14, 3013. The show is about a handyman named Manny Garcia who goes on fixing adventures with his helpful talking tools, who make repairs and fix problems in a fictional small town of sheetrock hills. Each episode of Handy Manny lasted for 30 minutes, which was enough to keep my interested, as well as my little sister’s attention whom I also watched it with. Due to the show being on Disney Junior, the commercials are kept very short and to the point. The commercials are very appropriate, which talks about upcoming shows and what kids should look forward to. From what I remembered, most of the commercials had to do with Mickey Mouse club house and movies that were going to be showed the night off. Not

Advertisements are found everywhere in today’s world. They have a big impact on what the consumer buys. Commercials are often aimed towards children and teens because they will ask their parents to buy the product. Another reason teens are targeted by advertisers is because they have money to spend and are willing to buy unnecessary products, especially if it is the latest and greatest. Teens feel that they need the newest electronics, clothing, and other luxury items.
... Dittman also stated that “the average child is bombarded with more than 40,000 TV. commercials a year” (Dittman, 2004). The campaigns shown on TV persuade children to feel that They desperately need the product and that they have to nag their parents into buying it. product for them, or they will be left out of the cool crowd.
