Henry Obookiah was born in the year 1792. He lived with his parents until the age of 12. He was a young boy when his parents were murdered. He then went to live with his uncle, but soon realize that he did not want to stay in Hawaii, but to travel out of Hawaii. He did not care about where he would go, but he wished to find somewhere where he would be comfortable without his father and mother. When he found the opportunity, he soon left Hawaii to travel to the mainland. He there worked for the people which she stayed with him, for he often changed homes every year. He went to school every day to learn the English language, for he could understand quite little and could hardly speak. Most of the friends Henry had made were Christians. Do to
them, he began to learn the religion of Christianity. At first was not very committed, but slowly began to love God, and realize that living without Christianity and his life was no longer an option. He quickly began to study Christianity and became very passionate. He wanted to gather a team to go to Hawaii and spread the word of God. He managed to do exactly this, but before leaving to his mission on Hawaii, he fell ill with typhoid fever. Though at first it seemed that he was responding well to treatments, he grew weak, and died on February 17, 1818.
The earliest member of the Bohrer Family, of which we can locate on records, was a man named Abraham Bohrer. He was born in Germany on December 14, 1717. He had a wife, Anna Lucy Schuster, and four children all by the name of “John.” They boarded an unidentified immigration boat and docked in Baltimore, Maryland on September 11, 1750. His occupation was a farmer and hoped for a better life and in search for religious freedom. He died on October 12, 1759. He was just 42.
Henry's relationship with his father was rough to say the least, but it did help shape him into the person he was . The two of them never really saw eye to eye. His father, who grew up in China, had very strong opinions about opinions against the Japanese. When Henry told him about his Japanese friend Keiko, he did not
Lawrence Willoughby, an African American male, was born in 1881 in Pitt County, North Carolina. He was the son of Lannie Anderson and X Willoughby. Lawrence married at 22,a woman by the name of Jennie Best on December 20, 1903. Records says that the two married in Pitt County, North Carolina. They had eight children in 13 years. Henry's first-person narrative is the most important element of these stories. Through it he recounts the events of his life, his experiences with others, his accomplishments and troubles. The great achievement of this narrative voice is how effortlessly it reveals Henry's limited education while simultaneously demonstrating his quick intelligence, all in an entertaining and convincing fashion. Henry introduces himself by introducing his home-town of Perkinsville, New York, whereupon his woeful g...
George Walton was one of three representatives from Georgia to sign the Declaration of Independence. The exact date of his birth is unknown but it is believed to be in the year 1749 in Prince Edward County Virginia. At a young age his parents died and he was adopted by and uncle who trained him to be a carpenter. In 1769 George moved to Savannah Georgia to pursue a legal career. He soon became one of the most successful lawyers in Georgia. He became increasingly active in the Georgia Revolutionary government and was elected to provincial congress in 1775. In 1776 he first served in the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia where he signed the Declaration of Independence.
Henry then walks to the room where he seeps and gets in his bed. His mother follows him in questioning what the preacher said about her and what he had been telling people. After asking a few times with no response she sets him upright and says, “Tell me,” she whispered and her bitter breath covered his face. He saw the pale oval close to him in the dark. “He said I’m not the same now,” he muttered. “I count.”(O’Conner 9). This is very important to the story because he is sticking to his new beliefs and its obvious that it means something to him. When henry wakes up everyone else in the house is asleep because they have been partying the night before. After doing various things around the house he decides he wants to go back to the river to be baptized again. This time “He intended not to fool with preachers any more but to Baptize himself and to keep on going this time until he found the Kingdom of Christ in the river.”(O’conner 11) and that’s exactly what he did. The water was very powerful and yanked him into the current, “For an instant he was overcome with surprise: then since he was moving quickly and knew that he was getting somewhere, all his fury and fear left him.”(O’conner 11). Henry at this point had achieved exactly what he came to the river for. Although he drowned in the water he did it with the intent to get closer to Jesus Christ and his kingdom and that’s what happened. O’Conner does an excellent job of portraying a young boy lost in the world with no guidance. Although he has both of his parents at home he is never taught correctly how to do a lot of things because his parents are to preoccupied with their life of

One of Barnstable's seven villages, Osterville is situated on Nantucket Sound and famous for its numerous oceanfront estates. The population is approximately 3,500 people, but seasonal residents and tourists swell the population during the summer months. Residents of Osterville often rely on Dirtworks for their asphalt paving, sealcoating, driveway paving, asphalt repair, parking lot striping, asphalt milling, site work, snow removal and dirt road repair.

...a of what his life would have been had he been born and raised by an American Family. This shows that he has been trying to run away from the shadow of his own Culture in an effort to gain acceptance in the American Culture. However, his unruly behavior might have resulted due to the lack of support from his family especially his father. His father’s determination of trying to keep him bounded to the Korean tradition and values might have what actually pushed Henry away. For example, when Henry decides to take an American girl to the Spring Dance, his father justifies her interest in her son due his financial background. He says to Henry, “You real dummy, Henry. Don’t you know? You just free dance ticket. She just using you” (Pg. 74). This illustrates that Henry has been struggling to gain his father’s respect and approval in him but was never able to achieve that.

The president I had was Benjamin Harrison. He was born on August 20, 1833 in North Bend, Ohio. He also died on March 13, 1901 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Benjamin died of influenza and then buried at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. Benjamin grew up on a farm near the Ohio river. He joined the fledging Republican party in the state politics of Indiana, which was built on the opposition to slavery and expanding to the western territories. He was also elected into the United States Senate in 1880.
George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia. Very little is known about Washington’s childhood because it is mostly fables that people made up to fill in the gaps. We do know that Washington threw a silver dollar coin across the Potomac and after he chopped down his father’s cherry tree, he confessed to the crime. It is also known that he was homeschooled and later on studied with the local church sexton and eventually a schoolmaster in math, geography, Latin and English. His dad died when he was eleven and when he was sixteen he traveled to Virginia’s western territory with a surveying party to plot land.
A healthcare leader I admire in our community is Randy Oostra. He is the president and CEO of ProMedica Health System. The reason I admire him is his communications to the public are sound positive and optimistic. McConnell (2016) describes one characteristic of an effective leader is that “leaders must be walking mission statements who make their visions come alive by talking about them with enthusiasm and conviction.” (p. 187). In my opinion, Randy exudes enthusiasm for improving the community.
