Healthcare Team Work In the healthcare field no one person has the answer to the complex health problems that is seen in the Primary Care setting. In today’s health care field, the delivery system involves many different healthcare professionals. On any given day there can be multiple handoffs among multiple health care providers with varying levels of education and occupational training. During a week’s stay at the hospital patients can see and interact with as many as 50 different employees, such as physicians, Nurse practitioners, nurses, patient care technicians and other health professionals. In this fast paced environment, it is critical to have team collaboration, when healthcare professionals do not communicate it puts patient safety at risk. The lack of communication leads to mistakes, such as misinterpretation of information unclear orders over the phone, lack of critical information being passed between providers (O’Daniel & Rosenstein, 2008). …show more content…

Gone are the days were your primary care provider held the keys to everything. The ever-evolving health care and global demand for quality care necessitate the need for development with intense focus on patient centered teamwork approach. This can be achieved by placed patient’s best interests at the center of care. The sharing of wide based culture of values and principles. The concepts will develop effective team approach and deliver exceptional care to all patients ( Batiker, 2014). Hospitals are always looking for new work practices and processes to help reduce the epidemic of medical errors. This requires all teams to talk with each other to prevent the errors.
