Kye Poronsky the is a bright and warm person. As she welcomed me into her office she greeted me with a sincere smile and offered me some chocolate macaroons. During our initial small talk she was at ease asking the basic questions while really listening to the answers I gave. She seemed unguarded speaking to me as if I was an old friend. I asked her about the mission of the organization and the major activities that it took part in. Her answers were to the point and well phrased. I got the feeling that she has answered questions along these line many times before and has memorized the answers giving them as if they were second nature. What is the mission of your organization? To provide a high standard and quality of care to the patients that we treat. 2. What are the major activities of your organization? Health care related activities that strives to enhance the field of science through sound and accurate research. We do drug studies, device studies, chart reviews, surveys. We look at all areas of health care, every aspect of healthcare and find the best solutions for hospitals and patients. 3. Would you characterize your organization as being an advocacy organization, a service organization or a combination of both? If both, explain. We are primarily a service organization but we do advocacy work on occasion when a topic directly affects the work that our organization does. We recently worked with surrounding cities and towns to raise the age in which tobacco products could be bought from age 18 to 21. We provide data and research findings to those who are pursuing matters that will help will help health care causes. 4. Do you receive any government funding? Mission and vision statements communicate strategic goals. “To provide superior patient-centered care using appropriate and innovative evidence-based practices” is a mission better aligned with Amedisys new direction. Additionally, “Drive growth by delivering a full range of holistic health care services, while cultivating a culture of compassion” is a vision that could be used to inspire employees to achieve Amedisys’ purpose.

I consider my care staff to be my patient care coordinators, treatment coordinators, and assistants. Doctor’s and Hygienists also need to be meet with to understand their philosophy and what I can do as a Manager to make there day run as smooth as possible. As a leader the staff needs to understand my philosophy, their expectations of other and what I would expect of them short and long term. Further 1:1 meetings in the following 30 days would be set up to further address after observation is completed.

First I want to say that the same sexual precaution information I would give a younger adult is the same I would deliver to an older adult, because both face the same derailment for quality health when the necessary precautions are not taken to prevent disease. I would inform this population that according to statistics in place from the CDC since 2007 “more than 14,000 older adults are now diagnoised with HIV, “ (Tabloski, 2015) Even greater concern needs to be expressed in regards to their age and the preceived burden, that the increased elderly population is draining our economy, which equates to a double dose of discrimination. As an intern at Preferred Family Healthcare, I am working with individuals in the Residential Care Facility (RCF). I am working with these individuals who's goal it is to move out of a residential setting into their own apartment. I have been facilitating a group comprised of three men. These men range in ages ***** but all have the same goal of wanting to move out on their own. Preferred Family Healthcare RCF staff meets weekly to discuss and identify the needs and concerns of these individuals. I also have been attending these meetings in order to learn about the residents as well as interject when possible the behaviors that I have seen. I collaborate with staff in order to help these gentlemen explore the goals identified by staff
I hope to impact this professional with my knowledge and expertise. I am now in school again to further my knowledge of this profession. It may seem old for some. However, for me learning has no age and boundaries as I continued to gain more knowledge and perhaps someday I can be a mentor for my peers. Successful medical organizations have as their guiding principles a professionally stated purpose which encompasses and details their mission statement, vision statement, values statement, and broad strategic goals. The organizational structure is established on these statements, and the function of each department and the duties of each employee are based upon fulfilling the purpose of these statements.
