Harry The Hippo Gets Hassled By Lachlan Gardiner Copyright (c) By Lachlan Gardiner E-mail: Peakabode@gmail.com It was a very hot day in the African Safari. Harry the Hippo was happily swimming in his favorite waterhole. Gerald the Giraffe was nearby eating leaves off the top of a very tall tree. "What a great day." Said Harry. "A marvelous day." Said Gerald. "I could stay here until sunset, what about you Gerald?" Said Harry. "Good idea Harry." Said Gerald. Harry and Gerald swam and played and had lots of fun. Along came Gary the Gorilla swinging through the trees, when he saw Harry and Gerald he stopped and gazed. A smirk appeared on his face and he began to laugh and point at Harry. "Hey Harry are you sure that waterhole is big enough for …show more content…
"That’s because Gary never learned how to be nice, he only knows how to treat others the way his brothers and sisters have treated him." Said Lockie. "What do you want me to do about it?" Said Harry. "Try showing him what it’s like to have a friend, ask him to join you and Gerald. I think you will bring out a much nicer side to Gary if you give him a chance." Said Lockie. "I’ll help you." Said Gerald. 5. "Well alright then, maybe it will work" Said Harry. The next day Harry and Gerald where playing together by the waterhole, when Gary came swinging through the trees. "So you finally got out of that log? I bet Ellie the elephant had to smash it, ha! you needed help from a giant girl." Said Gary, laughing to hysterically. "Actually Lockie pushed me out, and Ellie’s big because she is an elephant, they’re supposed to be big. We all have our differences and that’s what makes us great. Hey why don’t you play with us Gary." Said Harry. "I don’t wanna play with you two." Said Gary. "Yes you do, come on it’ll be fun." Said Gerald. "Don’t tell me what to do!" Said Gary and he turned and swung back into the jungle. Gary arrived home at his tree where his Brothers and Sisters where all swinging around having …show more content…
He climbed up a different tree and sat down all by himself. "It’s not fair." Said Gary sobbing into his arms. Gary took a deep breathe, and tried to calm down. He began to imagine Harry and Gerald playing at the waterhole. "Maybe they really did want me to join." Said Gary. He lifted his head and there was a big smile on his face, Gary realized he did have someone to play with. So he took off through the Jungle in the direction of the waterhole. When he arrived Harry and Gerald where playing and laughing. "Hey I decided I will play with you guys." Said Gary. Harry was shocked, he couldn’t believe it, Lockie was right after all. "That’s great Gary come on down." Said Harry. Gary joined in and they all played until sunset. Gary had such a good time, teasing Harry didn’t even occur to him. The next day Harry, Gerald and Gary all played together, and again the next day, and the next. They kept on playing together and the three of them all became best friends. It took a long time but eventually Gary turned to Harry one day and said; "Harry I’m so sorry I was mean to you, I wish I could take it all back." Harry could tell he was genuinely remorseful, so Harry said; "That’s OK, I forgive

Simon turned away from them and went where the just perceptible path led him. Soon the jungle closed in" (56). He loved solitude and yet felt loneliness; he was alien to the other boys. The boys did not think anyone would be stupid enough to go into the jungle by night: "The assembly grinned at the thought of going out into the darkness. Then Simon stood up and Ralph looked at him in astonishment" (85).
“Piggy!” Piggy grinned reluctantly, pleased despite himself at even this much recognition “So long as you don’t tell the others…” (Golding 11)
Relationships are an important essence of life. Humans need relationships because we are dependent on each other to survive. Babies need their mothers to feed and nurse them, and friends need each other to support, comfort, sympathize, and understand them. The friendship between George and Lennie outlined the core of Of Mice and Men, and although it’s sometimes idealized and exaggerated throughout the novel, there is no question of its sincerity. Lennie thinks of George as his only friend, his guardian, someone who he can trust and depend on, someone who had accepted him for who he is despite his childlike tendencies. Every time he did something wrong, his only thoughts would be of George’s disapproval. “I done a real bad thing. I shouldn’t have did that. George’ll be mad. An’… he said…. An’ hide in the brush till he come. He’s gonna be mad.” (pg. 92) On the other hand, George thinks of Lennie as a constant source of frustration, and as he frequently mention in the novel, “God, you’re a lot of trouble. I could get along so easy and nice if I didn’t have you on my t...
“Oooo… that sounds like fun! I'll have to make sure I’m not doing anything though. I’ll check tonight.” I exclaimed in a fake demeanor. Nick responded, “Okay,
After continuing on and on about what could come from the friendship, Georg admits, “Ulrich von Gradwitz, I will be your friend,” (Saki.) After the two declared their friendship is when they began to shout for help and the wolves come and possibly end their short-lived
Some of Finny and Gene's friends begin to join their new club. Finny makes up a game called "blitzball," sort of a variation on rugby and football; the game is a hit that summer.
“You have got to be kidding,” I thought. “We just got here it has to start raining. Well, there goes our fun beach day.”
Throughout the next couple of months, Angela and Gary became close. Over time they both developed a common goal, to get Gary’s ability to speak back.
The film itself starts with Josh’s computer screen as he plays a text-entry game, which he loses because he cannot type the answer in time. Opening with this computer game does not turn out to just be a quirky vision of a nerdy kid, as this specific game, play in all sorts of ways, and his interest in computers come back across the film. The set-up goes on to create the relationship that Josh has to his friend Billy, as well as his relationship to play in all forms. Josh and Billy play baseball together, and even in their playing the sport there is the additional element of Josh pretending to narrate their actions like a sportscaster, adding imagination to the game itself. The two walk home singing a song made up of jokes. Although many a young boy could be characterized as one who likes to play, these two main characters are shown to interact with a number of classmates who are not as playful. Josh’s crush Cynthia and her gaggle of friends, as well as Cynthia’s older carnival date, are shown to be perceivably cooler than Billy and Josh in that they are taking things more seriously. One of Cynthia’s friends pointedly rolls her eyes at the boys playing with their baseball cards, and neither Derek nor Cynthia show much excitement
This is when I noticed a change in Gerry’s stubborn ways, he began to try to get along with Julius. After the task that Coach Boone set up, both Julius and Gerry’s friendship grew. When they’re friendship began I saw the boost in self-confidence for them as friendships do to us. Personally, I feel that it is super important to have strong friendships like Julius and Gerry’s because they encourage us to try things, accept us, understand us, give us unlimited laughter and fun adventures and are like our siblings. The scene when Julius visits Gerry shows the special bond of their

Ben said, “Hey, what’s up?” Alex replied, “We need to talk about us and our dad.” “Okay, I think that’s a good idea,” said Ben. “I know we are both very angry about what happened last night and we both want to go over there and start a fight with him, but what he did made me realize that we are acting just like him, we are getting into fights like him and his brother used to do and if we keep acting like we are now then we are just going end up in the same situation as him once we get older,” Alex said. “I agree, so friends,” asked Ben.
“What if that bunny midget wants a fight?” Mikasa questioned with a sort of glint in her eye. Eren shrugged and reassured them both he’d be fine. After some deliberation, Armin and Mikasa went on ahead leaving Eren to return the ID.
“Woah it’s fine, Maggie he’s my friend, Right” He remarked as his eyes bounced from me to the boy who got shoved. By the look on his face they were definitely not friends. “Chill out Maggie” he uttered. Right when he told me to chill out it made me so much less
