With just a look from her eyes, she can make all the guys crumble at her feet. Or at least, to approach from across the room like a bee hypnotized by honey. That’s just how Selene is. Blessed with beauty and bold fashion sense, she carries herself with grace. When she takes a stroll across the street, it seemed like all the guys double take on her. Being a Gym junkie, my text history with her are filled with her invitation to go exercising together. Nevertheless, even if she exercises rigorously, she never seemed to break a sweat and still looked fabulous. Sauntering her way in the gym, she made a beeline to me and gushed,”Keesh, honey, don’t you think that guy over there is cute? He just asked my number, though. I heard that he’s quite a player, …show more content…
Her family tree is rather complicated; she has two equally beautiful sisters, two other half siblings, and 2 pairs of parents as her parent divorced when she was younger and already remarried. Although it is not uncommon in Indonesia for divorce to happen, it is quite a special case as 2 families living happily and harmoniously is rare. Usually there would be discord among them and family drama is persistent. It is no secret that in the upper class, appearance matters. Growing up in an affluent family, Selene naturally loves fashion. Having fashion as something she adores is one of the main reasons she took Fashion Marketing as her major in Raffles Design Institute in Singapore. Selene is gifted in fashion and marketing as she once won a fashion advertisement video contest that were held in her …show more content…
Having different other plans later yet not enough of each other’s stories, Selene proposed that I stopped by her house instead of going home to get ready. She lodged in one of the room in a private apartment in River Valley, which is nearer to my later destination. The moment I stepped through the door, I was met with a coat hanger filled with branded bags and a few hats. There was a 32-inch plasma TV that you can pull out from the cabinet. Below the TV was a mini fridge filled to the brim with bottles of beer and wine. Two bottles of expensive whiskey peeked through their pouch on the row on top of the fridge. Next to the cabinet was a table with fashion magazines and her assignments stacked on top. A dressing table that shows her love of makeup and skincare was at the corner of the room. A queen bed, an inside bathroom, and another cabinet full of books were there to complete her room. “Babe, let us drink a few shots of whiskey before you go to your event, it is been such a long time since we drank together” her voice slid in after an hour of tattling. It occurred to me that I could very well be drunk later but as I was going to a bar anyway, I answered her “Why not?” So she poured me a shot of expensive whiskey, and it was like warm liquid gold going in my throat. Almost like the polar opposite, Selene loves both to drink and exercise. “Well, if you exercise often, you would not feel
As a child, Selena was cheerful all the time and had the gift to bring everyone together at the playground. She was very athletic and did well in her classes. As athletic as she was, she loved playing with dolls, like dressing them up in customs...

Another way these characters avoid living their life is by drinking continuously, in a way to make the time pass by faster and forget. ?Haven?t you had enough? She loses count after 10 cocktails,? Unfortunately, there are many, who in society today, do the same thing to get out of a situation they?re trying to hide or a difficult time they?re going through. Nina said at first she didn’t attend a school for fashion but she did eventually. ‘I went to Boston University. My father was very adamant that I needed a career that was not just fashion design. In a way, he was right. So I went to University, and I did liberal arts, and then after I finished I moved to New York, and I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology (one of the biggest fashion schools in New York). I studied fashion and fashion merchandising. By then, I realized that I wasn’t cut out to be a designer.’ A follow up question Cassandra asked her was ‘Did your parents like fashion as much as you?’ and she said that her dad didn’t but her mom loved fashion just as much as her, if not more. She loved fashion and her closet was this oasis of color and shapes and prints and high-heeled shoes that I was dying to wear, and it was all in a walk in closet that I had no access to. So I think that that also peaked my interest, like when you can’t get in somewhere. I remember it was like Ali Baba’s cave! There was jewelry, and there were colors, and there were clothes, and heels, and all you want to do is go in
The Barbie of the 60s, she was a fairytale beauty that had it all: displaying the feminine characteristic of a beautifully balanced body, beautiful long coiffed blonde hair, and perfectly manicured nails. She demonstrated the icon of beauty and accomplishment that many of that generation aspired to follow. As the wife of a successful advertising executive, Darrin Stephens, Samantha had for the casual observer which describes by way of, that part of the individual's performance, which regularly functions in a general and fixed fashion to define the situation for those who observe the performance. Americans can observe that Samantha appeared to follow the stereotypical expectations of performance as the 60s wife with a beautiful, immaculate house on the right street, beautiful children, and an adoring husband who financially supported their middle-class lifestyle ranch culture. Her character is an empowering one in the way that she maintains both the social status quo and privilege: meeting the particular needs of her husband and children.
When she was singing before,” said Sonny, abruptly, “her voice reminded me for a minute of what heroin feels like sometimes-when it’s in your veins. It makes you feel sort of warm and cool at the same time. And distant. And- and sure.” He sipped his beer, very deliberately not looking at me.
Suddenly, Sara's light step halted and she turned to face me. From her hazel eyes blazed an intensity of exhilaration and courage, which mingled with pride and concern as she surveyed my resolute expression. I watched longingly as Sara unfastened the Nalgene bottle from her side; one sip of water sloshed tantalizingly at the bottom of the bottle, heightening my senses into acute desire. Sweat poured down from my face, biting at my eyes, and after I dabbed at them with my shirt, I saw Sara was presenting the water bottle to me. Both anticipating and squelching my refusing, Sara said simply, "Drink, Stacy. Yo...
Get a little coffee or something. I’m happy to spend some time with him.” Sefa was a beautiful young woman. Gwen guessed they were about the same age. She was lean and had beautiful creamy skin, and lovely almond-shaped, hazel eyes.
The dolls that the girls have wear a “sophisticated A-line coatdress” (Cisneros 4) and a “black glitter strapless gown with a puffy skirt at the bottom” (Cisneros 6). The girls adore these outfits, but are not what society would think of when picturing beauty. They are flawed; “the glitter wears off where her titties stick out” (Cisneros 9). They have “a dress invented from an old sock when [they] cut holes here and here and here, the cuff rolled over for the glamorous, fancy-free, off-the-shoulder look” (Cisneros 11). The young girls do not view beauty in the same way that society would view it; the girls do not see the flaws, where the world would be disgusted by them.
Exercising frequently can be a positive habit, but if a person becomes addicted to it, it has negative effects as well. Exercise addiction is not easy to identify because, like any other addict, they tend to deny they have a problem. This addiction is referred to by a variety of names such as exercise dependence, exercise addiction, obligatory exercise, compulsive athleticism, compulsive exercising, and exercise abuse. "Men and women are equally prone to exercise addiction, which affects about three percent of the population, according to a study at the University of Southern California. Exercise addicts usually work out two or three hours a day, six or seven days a week." (Seymour) Exercise addicts, of both genders, do not understand the difference between pushing their limits and overstepping them.
From the moment I starting my educational path I knew four years wouldn’t be enough to fill me with all the dimensions of the fashion industry. This led me to make my decision to apply for the M.S. Global Fashion Enterprise degree. When asked how this program at Philadelphia University would benefit me, I will begin by giving a background on my previous education. I started my undergraduate degree at Buffalo State College in upstate New York pursuing a Bachelor degree in Fashion Merchandising. After being in the program for a year I was confident in knowing I needed a change. My journey changed drastically when I moved down to sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I transferred to the Art Institute under the same major. I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Merchandising come this June 2014. My experience at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale has uncovered my love of education and research.
