Introduction The purpose of this report is to demonstrate ability to critically analyse previous work in the assigned group on assignment 1a and 1b, and to reflect on what was learned about the group work using the organisational behavior theories of the group. Group Assignment 1a and 1b was done in a small group of 4 people. The group was formed specifically for this task, and as such represent temporary type of the group. Members of the group didn’t know each other prior to forming, and the only communication between one another was online. In the future I would definitely leave more time to synchronise all parts of the report. It seems that as a group we fell in to a pitfall called “groupthink”. Irving Janis coined the term “groupthink”, which happens when in-group pressures lead to a deterioration in mental efficiency, poor tasting of reality, and lax moral judgment (Lunenburg, 2010, p. 2) When we were finalising the report we convinced ourselves that this was the only way, and it seemed that no one was willing to raise the questions about different parts of the reports not flowing in the clear order. Art Petty suggest 6 steps to Avoid Groupthink on Teams. One of the steps that would be useful for overcoming our group situation would be to anticipate “groupthink” in the risk plan of the group in order to monitor and reduce groupthink. (Petty, 2010) From this experience I have learned that as a group we can fall into “pitfall”, get blindsided. When working in the future I will implement “groupthink” in the risk plan, so I can allow myself enough time to step out of the whole situation and reevaluate group ideas and decisions that are made, but also advise group members about flaws, so we can act on
