While our first assignment was a group argument, the process was difficult at first, however, afterwards it was proved to me that it was more easy that what I had imaged it to be. Working in groups help in the development of my communication skills, however, I observed that I had many things to learn and the communication between my partners and me was truly necessary for the success and the completion of the argument. The argument was difficult to create and write, however, due to the work effort of all my partners and all their contribution to the writing of the argument it help me understand personally that we needed to work together. I would like to keep working with them, because, we have understood each other and now we have an idea of …show more content…
When I was aware of theses standards that moment was proof of the complications that were to occur in the near future. I knew exactly what was being requested of me, however, I had no experience completing those requirements, my knowledge of the standards was slim. However it was later on proved to me that this class was to be very simple and easy to understand without the necessity of struggle on my behalf. I viewed this class to be very strict and the expectation were going to be very high and that many complications were going to rise and that I would struggle many times. This class is very hard and the material taught is also very complicated. I do not view myself as a talented person, but, as a capable person who can complete any task that is purposed by myself or that is necessary to complete. That is what I thought of this classroom and my first impression, however, my thoughts and my impression are not the same anymore. My impression now is that this class is easy and the class is not suppose to be hard, due, to the past years of education. However, in my own experience I did not have these previous years of experience in English. As I mentioned before I consider myself a capable person and that is what allowed me to continue learning in subjects that I …show more content…
This experience will prove to be very effective in college as well as in my future job. These skills will improve my understanding of how to correctly elaborate my writing in any future writing assignment. The need to improve these skills is very necessary, because they are in a way the foundation of the common core standards and in another way the application of these skills will be the key to meet the minimal requirements. This quarter would have proven to be very difficult, if I had not gained the experience in my last year english class, due to the fact that, I had not received a proper english class since 4th grade. However, even though I do not entirely remember my 4th grade english class the skills I obtained were also very critical to my understanding of english and how to apply this knowledge in my idea. The skills that I will obtain in this class are very important to my success in the future, however, if the skills are not adequate for future reference I would struggle in many occasions. These are important to learn because in the future all the ideas that I learned in this classroom will help for future reference in my college English class, due to the fact that, I do not excel in any English class. In fact English is my most struggling subject, however, in some occasions English can be my most strong subject. However, even when English
I know I was never good at writing in English, but attending this class I have learn how edit and organize my own work. Also, I have a better understanding of how to express linguistic diversity while still communicating clearly and effectively with a chosen audience. In my fourth project, it shows my improvement in grammar and organization. I learned how to conduct research for a paper, make a claim, and form a counter argument. For example in my fourth paper, I collected five research documents to support my paper. I annotated and highlighted main reasons in each documents. My claim had been redrafted several times with my peers. I valued the times with my peers and the thoughtful suggestion about my paper. More importantly, my writing skill improved significantly. Even though I still make mistakes in my papers, I believe that I am qualified to move on to English
In modules 4 and 5 I learned a lot about the differences between groups and teams, how teams work, and how to manage a team. I also learned about negotiations and conflict. Over the last two weeks I completed five different assessments which were:
The group couldn't seem to find time for us to meet and plan our presentation, the first and only time all group members were present to work on the presentation was on the morning of the presentation. We worked on it and at the time I believed we had agreed on our final product, I personally felt all the slides needed at this point was editing and final touches to make it visually appealing for the audience. I went online to the google presentation we were using as a group to prepare our presentation and was surprised to see a different layout, additional slides, and contents which were different from what we as a group had worked on and approved as the final work we were going to present. I confronted the group members as to the changes on the slides and we had a conflict of what our
In week 7 our seminar leader allocated us into smaller groups of six to work together, get together and to start preparing for the mock debate in week 9 and the debate in week 10. When we started to get alone with each other, it was seen that it is not going to be easy to achieve our goals, not just because in our group had a strong activist, reflector, theorist and pragmatist, but we also needed to face some solvable difficulties as our first meeting of the week was cancelled by problem like the lack of communication, miscommunication and the ability to listen to another.
John Donne once said, “No man is an island” (Donne), which really just means that no human being can survive alone. Human beings are communal by nature and should one be isolated, that human would likely go insane with loneliness. So perhaps this explains why humans will conglomerate and follow a certain belief and often will not question dubious morals for fear of being ostracised. ‘Groupthink’ is a term that describes this behaviour. Groupthink is, according to Philosophy: A Text With Readings, “the tendency of cohesive groups to get increasingly out of touch with reality” (Velasquez). Plato’s Allegory of the Cave describes a group of men facing an illusionary world that they perceive as real and when one is removed, he fears being ridiculed
Coming into this experience, I questioned where I would find my place in the Senate. In 2014 I came here as a page and was able to witness daily floor action, but I never had the opportunity to be a part of day to day office business. I knew I would be at the bottom of the totem pole as an intern, but I wanted to feel as if I was making an impact on Senator Reid’s last year in office. In an office as large as Harry Reid’s it is hard to feel as if you are making an impact. I had the misconception that I would be working closely with him; however, thus far I have only spoken with the Senator one time. Within the first week I readjusted my expectations to try and find my role within the office. I was still doubting the impact I would make here this summer. With the Senator retiring, the office is tending to run particularly slow. When available, work was handed down to us by the Legislative Correspondents. Work primarily consisted of covering hearings, attending briefings, and doing research. When given the opportunity, I have worked as hard as possible to complete tasks to my best ability in hopes of getting more work in the future. As I may
Groupthink is the psychological phenomenon in which groups working on a task think along the same lines which could have drastic results. It is the result of group polarization where discussions are enhance or exaggerate the initial leanings of the group. Therefore, if a group leans towards risky situation at the beginning of the discussion on average they will move toward an even riskier position. (Marks, 2015). The idea when everyone think the same no one is really thinking. The drastic outcomes result from people trying to avoid conflict with one another, being highly cohesive, and results is questionable decision making (Oliver, 2013). As my English 101 class comes to an end, I have realized how much I have transformed as a writer. In this essay, I am going to explain what I realized my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer and how they have manifested themselves throughout the quarter. I was skeptical at first coming into this class knowing that English takes formidable work and dedication, but I am very proud of the progress I have made. We completed a great deal of work throughout the quarter; from grammar exercises, summary reviews, and two challenging essays. Throughout the quarter I found myself improving in each category. As a writer, my skills and confidence have developed into more clarity and thought, something I have always wanted to be, as a result of a well constructed class that led to a superb educational experience.
This session of the leaderless group discussion is mainly to evaluate the quality of the job seeker's professional knowledge and communication ability in the form of the no-leader group discussion. To ensure that the student has enough professional knowledge and matching requirement for the position. Leadless Group discussion concept: a work-related question will be giving to a group of candidates (five to seven), and allowing candidates to hold discussions for an hour. Leadless Group discussion is a kind of evaluation technique that is often used, which interview participants collectively by simulation. It tests the ability of organization, expression, emotional stability, interpersonal skills, non-verbal communication skills (such as facial
I should receive a passing grade in this class because I can write now. Not just an exaggeration, but after another semester of English I finally feel confident that can write. Three of the reasons behind my confidence is I learned, I experienced and best of all I repeated. These three values helped prepare me for what is in store in English 1302 and here is why.
We should strive for perfection in all walks of life, but if we are to be successful on life`s journey we must hold these truths to be self-evident: that error(s) are a must in growth and perfection is impossible. Throughout this fall semester in Writing 101, I have grown as a more confident writer. I have learned to overcome the fear and hindrance of inadequately transcribing my true thoughts to paper- selfishly working to please the reader and not my idea(s). Sharing my perspective, without fixed add-ins, is what makes me unique as a writer. I feel this can lead to constructive debates and can act as a learning tool for uninformed readers, but if the writing tampers the room for debate and learning is lessened. As a writer, I pride myself on the ability to pay close attention to detail; however, it was not easy for me to become a more confident writer. Although I praise the work of my first essay, Common Readings, because it

Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
The time passed so quickly, this semester is almost done. After this semester of study, the goals I have made the most progress is the course Objective 1: “Reading texts from a variety of disciplines in a variety of genres”. Before when the teacher asks to read some articles I will just read it once and get over it. So I often times forget the detail of the story. And have to reread the reading all over again. I don’t like to read something over and over again, because that will make me get bored. For example, my history class is requiring a lot reading, and all the reading about history is boring and long. So I only read it once, because in my opinion spending a lot time in reading about this boring history book is horrible. Unfortunately, we are having a quiz on it, I start to recall, and I have some blur memory about the book. So I take out the book, and start to read, but is all too late for it. I have a bad grade on it, I will forever remember this lesson. If I read more in-deep and carefully, I might not get a bad grade on my history quiz. In order to correct my reading process, I decided to use sticky notes and
In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. Learning in group class is taught me the tools to use to work with groups therapy, communities and also with individuals through the process of changes. In this past three months I think a lot of opportunities have been created to shadowing with (beside and behind) and being a part of group members to learn. In addition, this class has taught me about the skills and how effectively help
