I am currently an English 160 student who is hoping to move on to the next course, which is English 161. I understand the requirements for English 161. It require students to explore a topic in some depth and conduct independent research related to that topic. Conducting research allows students to learn what it is like to participate in academic culture, posing questions about important issues and developing an argument in response to what others have said. It expected students to learn the most valuable skill in college, which is critical thinking. Students have to be able to read challenging readings. Although I still have problems with English, I think I’m qualified to move on.
We have four writing projects, but only project #2 and #4

I know I was never good at writing in English, but attending this class I have learn how edit and organize my own work. Also, I have a better understanding of how to express linguistic diversity while still communicating clearly and effectively with a chosen audience. In my fourth project, it shows my improvement in grammar and organization. I learned how to conduct research for a paper, make a claim, and form a counter argument. For example in my fourth paper, I collected five research documents to support my paper. I annotated and highlighted main reasons in each documents. My claim had been redrafted several times with my peers. I valued the times with my peers and the thoughtful suggestion about my paper. More importantly, my writing skill improved significantly. Even though I still make mistakes in my papers, I believe that I am qualified to move on to English
I came into this class under the impression that I already wrote well enough and wouldn’t need to improve. However, as I progressed through the semester I learned that there is always room to grow. The first paper I produced was not at the level I was hoping but after I actively decided to improve my writing my papers became much better. Looking back on my work in the class I wonder how much my writing has changed and where I still have room to improve. Without evaluating my work I can’t hope to become any better. Through this class I have grown much as a writer but there is still more I can learn.
Throughout the semester I have learned an astounding amount of information. The English 101 curriculum has not only taught me how to write in general, but also taught me a variety of ways to get my point across to the reader. Before I took English 101 I was an average writer at best, but now that I am taking a class that focuses on writing strategies I feel that I have been able to improve as a writer. During the course we were taught how to write an informative essay as well as how to write a persuasive essay. The type of writing that this class has taught me will most definitely help me with future classes as well as my future in the real world. Throughout the English 101 course I have been able to improve as a writer by composing essays
Weak skills that I began the class with have become strong and my strong skills have become stronger. Having the opportunity to write a variety of different essay styles has challenged me greatly to improve my writing techniques. Each essay I was required to write brought its own struggles for me. I had to draw on the information that was presented through the class as well as look to the textbook for guidance. To ensure I did well on each essay I thought about my topic, researched the topic, then began to outline what I wanted to write about. Finally, I would write the essay and submit a rough draft. English 102 has given me the skills and training I need to move on to other classes next semester that will require writing essays. I now have a confidence in my writing abilities that this class has given
Once William Gibson said “Language is to the mind more than light is to the eye”. I had the privilege of taking English 1301 as a junior student in high school and was a unique experience. I learned important techniques that I will use throughout college. Some personal experience that significantly impacted me while taking English 1301 was learning about the writing process, being responsible, and always be on time. These experiences will be with me throughout my life and college.
When going through life learning is an everyday occurrence as each day is constantly filled with information that is used throughout the course of your life. In this class there was a list of goals and outcomes that the instructor felt would be achievable and the best way to learn throughout the course. In each goal throughout this process I feel like I have improved to some degree but there is other things that I do need to touch up on a bit more to further my writing education outside the classroom.
As I look back on my English 101 experience, I have come to the conclusion that I have learned many new things that have improved my abilities as a writer. I have learned some new techniques that have improved my ways of approaching an essay. I learned all about the rhetorical appeals and how to apply them in my writing and how to look for them in a essay written by a author. I have also learned how to argue both sides of a argument, and how to look for reliable sources and to properly quote and site the author of the essay. I feel as if I have become a better writer and my improved writing skills are shown within each essay.
...dless of what I am trying to accomplish. I feel that I am much better now, in persuading someone through my writings; which would definitely come in handy in the future. The responsibility I have gained during this experience is incredible and has taught me to be a much more organized person. During this semester I was taught a process of how to write a paper and organize it. I found that all of these responsibilities have made me realize that I could definitely take the next step forward in my academic career. Each new experience I involve myself in has made me continue to grow and constantly learn something new. I am someone who has never really enjoyed English classes in the past and I when I registered for English 101 I only saw it as a requirement to graduate but I really did enjoy this English course and I know that it was something that was worthwhile for me.
Personally, I believe that I have gained valuable knowledge in my English classes. Recently, I am about to end my third English course of college and it has been a good experience, those courses helped and influenced a lot in my writing. I believe I did more than just improve my writing skills. I received some rhetorical and genre knowledge, and learned about the writing process and how to appropriately enter a conversation without losing my own style of writing.
When we talk about English 1110, everyone actually knows the main part of the course is writing. The goal of this class is to improve structural, style of writing, thoughts and performances of students. During this semester, the curriculum includes essays and topics from many different aspects of different issues which are useful to me. From this class, I had the opportunity to improve my writing skills. For example, before writing a paper, I always have outline, strategies, arranging and modifying as well as finding ideas to improve my writing style in a better way. Before taking English 1101, I just wrote essay with what I think of that time and did not care whether my essay is understandable or not; however, i have been improved for the past three months. When I see a title, I start to write down all ideas and also create an outline and order of all documents in a reasonable manner. In addition, all response papers that I have done during this semester I started to have different way of thinking by listening my friend's arguments, feedbacks or comments, agreements or disagreements. Those group activities from friends were helpful because I started to recognize what are right and wrong things in my essay. From there, I have my own personal opinions and defend my arguments.
In summary, I had an enjoyable time in my first college English class. I pushed myself as diligently as I could and learned much more than I thought I would. In addition to, my strengths grew stronger and my weaknesses improved as well. I acknowledge I still have some techniques and skills to work on; however, I am willing to put the time in and cannot wait to take English in the future. Writing is an everlasting skill that will be an enormous asset to me; in addition to my future classes, and my career as
Over the course of the semester, I feel that I have grown as a writer in many ways. When I came into the class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at. During my time in class, I have come to improve on those skills even more. Before I took this class I didn’t even realise what I was good at. This is the first class where I felt I received feedback on my writing that helped me to actually review my work in see what areas I lacked in and where I succeeded. Some of the skills I had shocked me as I didn’t think I had those capabilities in me.
In this English class I have learned many things that made a positive impact on my writing. I learned how to properly use quotes in my essays, how to use templates to make a point while agreeing, disagreeing, or both. On my response paper I learned to express my opinion, adding examples and adding more to the conversation. Peer review had a good impact on my writing. This was the first time that I used it, and I believe that from my experience peer reviewing is really helpful and necessary to create a good essay because you can see a different point of view on one’s paper. I also enjoyed doing learning narratives in this class because it made me think about how one experience can become a life lesson.
Since beginning this class I have found myself doing more research, so I can make the best paper I can. The more research and knowledge I gain about the topic, the better my papers have been. Before I started this semester I did enough to get by with my papers. This class has changed the way I go about my papers. I have been proofreading my papers more than I usually do and actually thinking deeper about my papers. By the end of this class, I would like to be confident in my literacy skills. I would like to improve in every aspect of literacy and this will make my papers much better.
... the course. By writing these pieces, I have learned I most definitely like personal narrative style of writing the best as in my reminiance writing essay. I can find my "writers voice" most easily when I am writing from my personal emotions and seem to enjoy it more. I feel it is more organized and the content is more concentrated on the topic. I enjoyed writing my definition essay and the reminiscence essays because of this. Also I learned that no challenge is impossible from writing my informational and portrait of a writer essays. Even though I found each very difficult, I soon found out it just takes practice. I have been introduced to different writing styles of writing and endured a lot of criticism, as well as positive feedback. From writing in these various methods, I have learned to become a well-rounded individual who can write for a variety of audiences.

My vocabulary and spoken skill was promoted. However, writing was still a block for me. Except for grammar and spell error, my professor said he don’t understand the main point of my paper. He gave me a lot of suggestion but they don’t make me sense. English 101 is a most suitable class for me. It provides the opportunity to make up deficiency in my English.
