Walking into the Education Pioneers group interview on Tuesday afternoon I was excited to see how many candidates were in attendance. From my past experience with group interviews usually the interviews consist of five candidates or less, but when I saw the size of our group I knew this was going to be an exciting day. Before the interview begin I had the chance to meet some of the other candidates and we conversed about our work and college experiences until the start of the interview. At the beginning of the group interview I found it great to hear from the Education Pioneers staff about Education Pioneers and their specific roles with Education Pioneers. I also had a personal connection to the case study from my past work experience which consist of working at a failing school who had received a School Improvement Grant and used the transformation model to implement change. My group consist of people with very diverse backgrounds and I believe we worked well together. We begin by having everyone discuss what options they liked and which ones they did not like. After our first discussion we narrowed our choices downed to two options. We were between options one and two and we begin to have strong conversations about our education beliefs and dissecting each option pointing out the pros and cons of both options. Choosing between the two options was a challenge for my group but after our discussion we decided on option two. Although we had different opinions it was nice to hear other viewpoints and have a discussion with people dedicated to the field of education. Since this is my first informational interview, I was struggling to maintain the conversation flow. In the 45-minute interview, there were several times where I had no idea how to respond her answer. I tried hard to keep the conversation flowing by asking any other random questions that came into my mind. I realized that I have to improve this weakness by having more experience for interviewing someone and being more focus of what he or she is talking about.
Group therapy is considered one of the most resourceful forms of therapy. The benefits to group therapy can be both cost-effective and a great means of support (Corey, Corey & Corey, 2014). The process of experiencing ideas and viewpoints expressed by your peers allows group members to become more susceptible to the counseling procedure. Group counseling also helps individuals to feel a sense of belonging due to similar situations and experiences shared by the group. The sense of support from group members can be an excellent means towards developing long-lasting relationships and developing communication skills needed to move forward during the counseling phase. In this paper, I will discuss my experiences throughout the group-counseling phase.
In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. Every group is made up of definite strengths and weaknesses. Our team's 3-5 major strengths necessary to work accordingly consist of Informer, Summarizer, Orienter, Piggy-Backer, and Encourager. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
From the beginning, where we were unfamiliar with each other and became a team, my team and I had started to learn each other name and getting to know each other. Throughout each meeting, we slowly start to feel more comfortable and open minded with each other. Not only are we getting familiar with each other, each meeting that was held we progress of becoming an effective team member, we learn our strengths and weaknesses of everyone. In order to gain some purpose while working in a group, I know it can be challenging task to do because every group member is required to agree and cooperate. I am privileged to become a part of a group and completed our task successfully. I had a scheduled interview with Ms. Jessica Robinson, for the first time on her own on April 30, 2015 and 2:30 pm. The meeting was held in my office located at the U.S Probation and Pretrial Service. I asked for verification on her name before conducting the assessment and asked if she was okay with the idea of me taking notes during the session. I reassured her that is her choice to accept this choice regardless if she has a record with the court or not. She agrees to the concept and I explain the rules of confidentiality to her and this agency being that it is with a trial.

6, Question 4 A team meeting that I recently attended was a staff meeting at the school that I work at. The principal will have an agenda that the staff can grab before the meeting, so that they can see what types of topics will be talked about. The principal always supplies chocolate to the teachers if they want it, which is a nice extra!

Members witnessed social influence that resulted in a change of behavior or belief to fit in with a group. None of our group member talked or sent a text while meetings were in session. These were a clear changes in attitudes and behaviors to match the attitudes and behaviors of the people around us. Most of the time, people are motivated to do the right thing. If society deems that we put litter in a proper container, speak softly in libraries, and tip our waiter, then that’s what most of us will do.
