Deciding what university program to choose, is one of the decisions that can change the course of your life drastically. Like you, when I was in high school I had to tackle that decision, and at that time, I decided to go to medical school. Three years later, when I moved to Canada, I was faced with the same challenge once again, not being able to medical school directly, I applied to the Health Sciences program, which it turned out to be a perfect fit for me. The Health Sciences program at the University of Ottawa, offers an interdisciplinary approach to studying human health. When I applied to the program my main goals were to study in a discipline that would increase my knowledge about research, human health, particularly chronic diseases, …show more content…

All of the previously mentioned jobs have a common theme, they are related to improving people’s
Since a young age, I always felt inclined towards pursuing a career in the health care field; daydreaming about myself working at a clinic or hospital and making a positive impact on someone’s life. When I started college, I decided to major in Biology and explored the different career options the health field had to offer me by shadowing dietitians, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers to find my ideal job.

Only two months ago, I moved into room 426 of Trinity Hall and began my journey at Azusa Pacific University. I still remember how nervous and excited I felt when I arrived. Everyone was incredibly kind and overjoyed to have the freshmen move in. Beneath all the exhilaration, I had three big fears that felt like heavy weight on my chest. Because I did not grow up from a Christian family, I feared that I would not fit in with everyone else. I was also intimidated by how extroverted everyone was. I was introverted, so it required extra effort for me to make new friends. Another one of my fears was nursing school since the nursing program is known for its heavy load of work and commitment. Through experimentation, communication, and hard work,
I began my college career unsure of the path ahead of me. I knew I had a passion for medicine, however, I did not know which direction I would take. With the expansive amount of options offered within the fields of science and medicine, it was difficult to narrow down exactly what direction I wanted to take. I gained some clarity the summer of my sophomore year when I stayed at a close friend’s home, whose father, a practicing Medical Physician, became somewhat of a mentor to me. The passionate way in which he discussed the practice of medicine led me to develop an interest in pursuing a career as a physician. He explained that a career in the medical field was about responsibility, the responsibility to work with all members of the healthcare team for the well-being of the patient as well as their family

Among thousands of jobs and over billions of people, having a career or achieving a job is not only important but also competitive. Therefore, deciding what you are going to become has always been the toughest decision in life. I am not talking about Mozart, who was born to play and compose music, or Cristiano Ronaldo who decided to pursue for his career as a football player at the age of 14. I am talking about me and my just-found-out-career in a couple hours earlier, Nursing.
... tutoring, advising, and volunteer opportunities, I have developed a strong sense of leadership, confidence, and responsibility. A career in medicine will not only strengthen such attributes, but provide me with an ongoing opportunity to learn, not just from books, but also from patients; and to educate and serve those individuals as well. Though my journey began under dismal circumstances, I believe those experiences will specifically enable me to better understand quality of life issues in the under-served populations of my geographic region.

I have an unquenchable desire to learn and develop the mind. I believe, one of the greatest ways to better care for individuals, families, communities and the population was to pursue the Master of Public Health Program and concentrate on Community Health Education. With the Master of Public Health degree, I can better understand how to implement, plan and evaluate health promotion and disease prevention programs to better serve different communities. I want to pursue a master’s degree to focus on my career interest more in-depth. Choosing to pursue the MPH program is a lifelong self-fulfillment, because there is no greater satisfaction than knowing I am going to wake up every day to improve the lives of people all around the world. Higher education is rewarding and can open the door to greater opportunities. I aspire a career with a purpose, that is why I chose to complete my graduate
College professors have been complaining about students who are unmotivated and uninterested; who therefor resist efforts to be educated. Students show this mindset in a few ways: not talking in class discussions, not reading assigned homework, complaining about to much work, missing class, and many more. Motivated and engaged college students cannot learn to their full potential; most students ridicule and look down on students who try hard in college universities. A sophomore at Duke University complains, "If you try to discuss something that happened in class, or something from your reading for class, they 'll ridicule you. People want to be able to turn off the academic switch the minute they get out of class" (Willimon 30).
The career that I chose for my career research project was a football coach. When doing my career assessment for this project I discovered that I am a tactical learner. In the field I am currently in this field requires a lot of touching and carrying out certain plays for my team. This I believe is a really good match because this field requires a lot of physical endurance so I do believe that the learning styles assessment was on point with my career choice.
Over the last years, attention to public health issues has been increasing as well as aspirations to high health standards. Medical professions are in high demand because of the need of constant improvements of the health care system. I began high school in 2003. Like every other student I aimed for the so called high and prominent careers and my first choice was Medicine while my second choice was nursing. This led me to volunteer in a hospital immediately after High school but after the results were out I did not qualify for the Medicine program as a government sponsored student instead, I was selected for the General Science program. I did not know what the program entailed when I enrolled in the university but I embraced it positively and settled on making it work for me. I did my research on people who had previously gone through the same program and were successful and from the findings I chose those who were accessible and made them my mentors. Through interacting with them I gained knowledge from their experiences and I came to learn of a different perspective of medicine that of biomedical research. Today I look at General Science as the best thing destiny brought my way.
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. Imagine being stuck in a dead end job and having to go to work every morning and dreading it. That is no spending oneÕs time and life is too short to work 35 years and be unhappy with it. If a person likes the job they do then it is not work, because finding satisfaction out of a job can bring great happiness. That information has enabled me to make the decision of choosing my area of study and career in the field of Information Technology.
Throughout my life, I have worked towards one goal which is to become a doctor. Medicine offers the opportunity for me to integrate different scopes of science while trying to improve human life. Medicine has intrigued me throughout all my life because it??s a never ending mystery and every answer has questions, and vice versa. Upon entering my career, I had assumed that professional and financial success would surely bring personal fulfillment. This realization triggered a process of self-searching that led me to medicine. The commitment to provide others with healthcare is a serious decision for anyone. As I examined my interests and goals, however, I underwent a process of personal growth that has propelled me towards a career as a physician. A career in medicine will allow me to integrate thoroughly my passion for science into a public-service framework. Since childhood, I have loved acquiring scientific knowledge, particularly involving biological processes. During my undergraduate studies, I displayed my ability to juggle competing demands while still maintaining my academic focus; I have succeeded at school while volunteering part time, spending time with family and friends, and working part-time. To better serve my expected patient population, I worked over my English and Korean language skills. I have come to discover that a job and even a good income, without another significant purpose, will not bring satisfaction. I planed to utilize my assets, namely my problem- solving affinity, strong work ethic, and interpersonal commitment, to craft a stimulating, personally rewarding career in medicine. I have taken stock of myself, considering my skills, experiences, and goals. I have looked to family and friends, some of whom are doctors, for advice. Because of this self-examination, I have decided to pursue a career in health care. The process has been difficult at times but always illuminating. Throughout it all, I have never lost confidence - the confidence that I will actively absorb all available medical knowledge, forge friendships with fellow students, and emerge from my training as a skilful and caring physician.
