Personal Experience: My Journey At Azusa Pacific University

Only two months ago, I moved into room 426 of Trinity Hall and began my journey at Azusa Pacific University. I still remember how nervous and excited I felt when I arrived. Everyone was incredibly kind and overjoyed to have the freshmen move in. Beneath all the exhilaration, I had three big fears that felt like heavy weight on my chest. Because I did not grow up from a Christian family, I feared that I would not fit in with everyone else. I was also intimidated by how extroverted everyone was. I was introverted, so it required extra effort for me to make new friends. Another one of my fears was nursing school since the nursing program is known for its heavy load of work and commitment. In the end, God guided me to APU because He wanted me to learn about Christianity and its purpose. I was fearful at first because I did not know much about God or faith. Several times, I was asked by several APU staff and students which church I attended, but in reality I had never been to church except the one time I had a piano recital. I became curious when I went to my very first chapel. I did not understand why Christians were so strong-willed and crazed about God. When I looked around me, people had their hands in the air with their arms reaching out. I did not understand how they could praise God, someone who cannot be seen with the naked eye, with so much love. Two weeks passed, and I still did not quite understand the Christian religion and its purpose. I remember clearly that one of the apex meetings that I had with my mentor, Phoebe, completely altered my understanding of the Christian religion. There is nothing more I can ask for because I feel very blessed for all my wonderful experiences at APU. I am beyond excited for what lies ahead of me for the next four years. Whatever my path is, I will leave my destiny up to God. I will try my best to work hard and use the skills I developed in my classes to thrive in college. By the time I graduate college, I hope to be a successful nursing student and hope that my faith in God will be much stronger. I also hope that by the time I graduate, I will become very close to my current friends. I am blessed to be attending Azusa Pacific University and am ecstatic for the journey that lies ahead of
