This supplement is a record of my actions in this investigation. On September 21, 2015, I was assigned this case to follow up. This case involves Ms. Hadja Bah a thirteen year old Francis Hammond School student. Ms. Bah has a previous runaway history and refuses to follow curfew set at home. Hadja had runaway several times (15-138346/15-121625/15-118272) which I have investigated several of the incidents. CPS investigator Ms. Alice Keany did a family assessment for the Bah family. I contacted the family and spoke to Kadiatu Diallo who reported her daughter and husband are home. I responded forthwith and met with them at 6150 Edsall Road Apt# 102. Mr. Thiarno Bah expressed frustration and concern as to why his daughter keeps leaving to go 3932 Vermont Ave. He told me that he is concerned what his daughter might be doing. Ms. Diallo also expressed concerns over her daughter’s need to leave the house. …show more content…
I sat down in the dining room and asked for Hadja to sit down and speak to me.
Hadja entered the dining room crossing her arms and refused to look at me. I asked Hadja if she was o.k. Hadja would not answer my questions at first. Once I asked her to respond she told me that “ I left on my own”. I asked Hadja if there was anything I could help her with? I asked her if she’s being bullied or forced to do anything by anyone. Hadja responded that no one is making her do anything. I attempted to complete a rip assessment form. Hadja told me she felft because she wanted to and that she was gone for over 8 hours. I asked her if she was exploited or abused. Hadja told me no, but was upset over being taken to Canada for part of the
summer. Hadja refused to elaborate further and I was unable to complete the form. I told Hadja that I was going to complete a CHINS petition to have the Court Services Unit assess these runaway incident. I asked her if there was something she wanted to share with me that would clarify as to why she keeps leaving home. Hadja shrugged her shoulders and still looked away. She muttered under hear breath “I don’t care”. I took two digital photos of Hadja to keep a recent image. I completed an F-APD007E and filled out a runaway CHINS. I contacted Darnel Norman of the Court services unit who told me of two prior assault incidents in Fairfax County on March 2012. Case status unchanged.

Thomas Jefferson was a man who believed that all American citizens need to be educated so that they may exercise their rights. He saw public education as essential to a democracy. One proposal he made for public education would guarantee that all children could attend public schools for three years. However, much like other early school reforms, this proposal received much rejection and was never brought into being. Despite this rejection, Jefferson still believed that America needed public education. Eventually, he opened the University of Virginia. Even though his bills and proposals to benefit public education never saw the light of day, he still made many contributions to public education by providing the foundation on how a democracy should handle educating its

In the study of The Way Schools Work we learned to question the ideals of meritocracy and the American dream. However, Conflict Theories challenge the system of meritocracy, in which people are sorted and selected on the basis of talent and ability. On the contrary, “Conflict Theories, on the other hand, imply a system of inheritance in which people’s life chances are largely determined by their starting point within an existing structure of inequality” (McNamee and Miller Jr. 2014, 11). According to these theorists mentioned in The Way Schools Work (Boudin 1974; Bowles and Gintis 1976; Carnoy 1972; Carnoy and Levin 1985; Persell 1977), they speak about how schools reproduce status in several ways. First, they use formal language, and hold

At the Oakes Public Schools, the coaching contract is a section of the teachers negotiated agreement. The contract also states that all efforts will be made to fill all extracurricular positions with teaching faculty, and any community members may have their job re-posted following the season, regardless of performance. For faculty members, the contract is also annual, and renewed pending evaluation. North Dakota does not have tenure, so all teachers are year-to-year employees, as are coaches.
Students at East Brooklyn Community High School literacy level are very low. Students have trouble comprehending material, analyzing, writing, reading and using vocabulary words. Each lesson plan throughout a unit targets a learning strategy. My goal is to attack the use of vocabulary and building inquiry so students can become better reader and writers. Going into fieldwork my over arching question is How can I engage students to build confidence to have a successful education at EBC High School despite their failures prior to attending EBC High School? Students come to this transfer school because formal high school did not work for them. My goal as a teacher at EBC High School can be somewhat challenging with students coming in with financial,

In 2009, Greencastle High School implemented the practice of allowing student council leaders to sit in during school board meetings. R.18. This practice was to encourage students to participate in government, but also the board believed it was helpful to have students available to give their views and input when matters were discussed that affected them. R.18. Student council leadership consists of President, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and Senior Class President. R.18. Student council attend meetings once per month, which are generally held in the School District’s administrative office, but when the board recognizes student accomplishments or debating controversial topics the meetings are held in either the school’s cafeteria or
Abby is a 13-year-old Caucasian female who was recently picked up by the police for running away. This is not the first time Abby has run away, but it is the first time the police have found her. In past runaways, Abbey’s parents were the ones to find her and would bring her home. Abby lives in an upper middle class neighborhood with her mother and stepfather. She attends a great school, but her studies are lagging. She has been getting poor grades, has dropped out of all her extracurricular activities, and has become very withdrawn. In this particular instance, the police find her and she is under the influence of drugs and alcohol. When questioned by the police, she reports she ran away because her stepfather has been sexually abusing her for several years, and she cannot take it anymore. In this particular case we can deduce that the best theory to associate with it would be the theory on child abuse and neglect having an adverse effect on a child. child abuse and neglect are important causal factors in delinquency. In fact, numerous studies over the past 50 years have suggested links between delinquency and child abuse and neglect. Research has also shown suggested that children who break the law, especially through acts of violence, often have a history of maltreatment as children. As many as 10 million children are exposed to domestic violence in their homes annually (Cox, Allen & Hanser,
