Dear……. I am contacting you regarding my financial aid status. For the past six years, I have been attempting to complete my associate's degree at Georgia Perimeter College now Georgia State University. In 2011 my mother was diagnosed with cancer and I became her primary caretaker. During this time I thought that I could keep up academically as well as provide for my mother and my twins. However, I became overwhelmed with my mother's medical appointments, medical bills all while trying to work in order to cover these expenses as well as household expenses. Because of this, my education was placed on the back burner and I failed my classes. As a result of the medical expenses, I had to file chapter 7 bankruptcy. After several years, I attempted …show more content…
During the Summer of 2016, I completed this requirement and submitted a SAP Appeal. However, for the third time, my appeal was denied; I was told it was due to me not meeting SAP. I was told I would need to continue paying for my courses. I explained the information that I'd received the previous year by the financial aid advisor, and the agent stated that the advisor no longer worked for the college. Therefore, her recommendation was null and void. Furthermore, I was also insensitively told, that because my mother's cancer diagnosis was both in the past and not my personal diagnosis that it should not have had an effect on my previous academic performance nor should it affect my current ability to pay for school out of pocket. This has become very disheartening for me as a student because each time I complete the requested task, the finish line gets pushed further and further away for me to receive financial aid. At this time, I would like to request reconsideration for awarding my financial aid. I understand that if awarded, there will be strict guidelines however I am only asking for an opportunity to prove myself and complete my degree. If I could be granted financial aid on a semester by semester bases I would truly appreciate the
This is in response to the email on the 19th of June 2015 regarding the suspension of my Howard University Freshman Scholarship (HUFS). I would like to appeal my Howard University Freshman Scholarship (HUFS) suspension, which is based on my academic performance.
My name is Kaha Salad and I am appealing my Satisfactory Academic Progress suspension. Autumn semester of 2013 was a difficult time for me, I was going through many different changes in my life and I just didn’t know how to adapt. I experienced a personal event in the summer of 2013 that made my life change forever. My Grandmother Khadija died, she was the light of my family’s lives. My mother was immensely affected by her death, she went into a state of depression and she then stopped working. I took it upon myself to help out my grieving mother and get a job to help pay with the bills that was piling up. I began working
So after dinner, I went and grabbed my laptop to search for a cheaper alternative. Wake Tech Community College appeared in the search results and I started looking at the financial aid section. I soon discovered that there are several options that will work with our family’s budget. At this point, I became very excited and yelled down the hallway “Daddy!” he walks in my room and I say “go get your 1040 forms, I am eligible for financial aid at WTCC and I can stay home with you.” He shouted “this is the best news ever” while he ran to grab the forms. We then got started right away on the long list of
The Federal Government has set guidelines concerning students who receive Title IV Aid and completely withdraw from school or stop attending courses. Any student making a complete withdrawal or that stops attending their classes who received a Federal Pell Grant, SEOG, Subsidized Stafford Loan, Unsubsidized Stafford Loan or a Parent (PLUS) Loan, will be required to pay back money to the school immediately if they drop out or stop attending courses before 60% of the semester has been finished. After the calculations are figured, the Financial Aid Office will notify any student that might owe money back to the Federal Government. Your Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress status will also be evaluated at the end of the semester and you will be notified accordingly
I am writing this appeal letter, because I have received a letter saying that I am eligible to attend the University of Wisconsin La Crosse anymore due to my academic standing. I wish, and hope that you may reconsider. I have been attending this college for two years now, hoping to go on my third. And I would love to say that I enjoy this community very much and that I wish to stay. I wish to grow better as a student and as a member of the college community. Here in this college I am currently a leader of InterVarsity, a Christian organization on campus, and have been active in HOPE, a Hmong organization on campus. Although I have been active within the college community and have been success at it, I have failed towards being a student.
Dear Office of Financial Aid, My name is Daisy Casillas and I am writing this letter to request the reinstating of my financial aid. In the summer of 2014, I began my studies at Calhoun Community College as a recent high school graduate attempting 13 credit hours. During this time I was facing many hardships, not only was I not mentally prepared for college, I was also facing many financial problems. No one in my household was employed and our only assistance was from food banks.
At this time I am attempting to complete another sap appeal for the fall term, I do realize that this is my second appeal. Past appeals were approved due to my medical issues and caring for a spouse who had surgery in June, I did have an agreement to pass math with a grade of B, however, I did not receive an B, my grade in the class was a C. Although I did not meet the grade requirement, I did the best that I could on my own being as though my GPA was extremely low, my grade improvement did not impact my GPA they way it needed to. Moreover, I had to repeat the classes in the summer term, I would like to also add that I am only taking two classes at a time, so I believe that only taking a few classes did not have a major impact on my GPA because
I am writing today to appeal my academic probation status so that I may continue receiving the Pell Grant for my studies. I have had an obvious stumble in my beginnings with FAU but I am certain that with steps I've taken this summer I will be back on track to a good academic standing while completing my bachelor's degree. After withdrawing from two classes this past spring I dropped below the 67% required completion rate. Despite this, I persisted and paid for a summer class myself. I also withdrew from this second-attempt class.
I am writing this letter in regards to my financial aid suspension due to unsatisfactory academic progress and to having taken more than 90 credit hours. I am hoping that you will reconsider this decision in light of extenuating circumstances which interfered with my ability to be a successful college student. I always have been a great student in school. I got good grades all throughout high school. I maintain to manage and keep that momentum going throughout my college career.
Dear Admission Committee, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to request special consideration for my current academic circumstances, despite the lateness of this submission. Since 2020, I have been confronting a series of unforeseen personal challenges that gradually escalated in severity. Despite being diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in February 2023, I believed that I had overcome these obstacles and continued to push forward without seeking further assistance.
You may receive a lot of advice from friends, family members, teachers and others regarding scholarships, the FAFSA, financial aid deadlines, student loans, who’s is eligible for financial aid, what to do and what not to do. Some of this information may be true, while some of the advice may be based on some financial aid myths that have circulated for years.
Dear Editor, even though there are many perks to finishing high school and completing Year 12 exams, some students feel ready to leave school before the end of Year 12. They feel confident enough that they will survive in the economy but, they`re all wrong. There is a low chance that those students will have a bright future.
Dear Colleagues I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to share with you a personal experience I had during my Freshman Year. which recounts my experiences transitioning from middle school to high school. particularly focusing on the challenges, I faced balancing my passion for basketball with unexpected academic hurdles. The transition from middle school to high school is a huge moment in a student's life, marked by excitement, aspirations, and the anticipation of new opportunities.
Through this letter, I would like to formally clarify my application and respectfully request your reconsideration of me as a candidate to UC Irvine. I understand the applicant pool for the Fall of 2017 has been greater than prior years and turning away qualifying students is a must in this case. Therefore, I would like to extend my gratitude for taking the time to read my appeal. I have come to believe that my rejection is tied to my SAT score, and the lack of depth in my application essays, which I’m sure heavily influenced the final decision. Let me explain the circumstances behind it.
The financial aid application deadline is March 2. If you miss this date than students should apply as soon after that date as possible to be considered for the financial aid that is still available. The percentage of students with financial aid is 15%. Scholarships are available through organizations. There are two types of financial aid. There are loans and grants.
