I am writing today to appeal my academic probation status so that I may continue receiving the Pell Grant for my studies. I have had an obvious stumble in my beginnings with FAU but I am certain that with steps I've taken this summer I will be back on track to a good academic standing while completing my bachelor's degree. After withdrawing from two classes this past spring I dropped below the 67% required completion rate. Despite this, I persisted and paid for a summer class myself. I also withdrew from this second-attempt class. The abysmal completion rate I’ve begun this year with is the result of my failed year of college in 2001. It is something that I began dealing with in the last two years while in school and it has had a strong effect on me. Unfortunately, my reaction was to ignore this problem and persist through my studies. I am no longer ignoring my hearing damage. I am now consulting with an ENT/audiologist and working with FAU accessibility office. I have also recently learned that there is an audiologist on the FAU campus and I'm looking forward to meeting with them. I have put a great deal of thought into this decision and, despite the fact that I had my heart set on engineering, I feel that I can be successful, motivated, and happy within this new field. I spent some time researching the anthropology degree and have taken the steps to join the College of Arts and Letters for the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology. I have chosen a set of two classes and a lab for the fall semester. I believe this schedule should be challenging while remaining a lower-pressure start to my work with the Anthropology Department. Like I said before I was unaware deaf experienced audism. By educating others they will be more aware of this ongoing issue resulting in preventing audism from occurring. Another way to reduce audism is to spread the word to friends and family. Explain to them about this issue and have them spread the word as well. Lastly, if you see someone being an audist, kindly ask them to stop as well as explain to them about the damage they may inflicted on someone. This will be a learning experience for you as well as the other person

Post sentencing considerations include security classifications, parole and continued detention orders. These offer different levels of incapacity, accessibility of rehabilitation programs and incentives for good behaviour, and are implicated in order to achieve justice through upholding the rights of the victim, the offender and the wider community.
I’ve often wondered what it would be like to be on academic probation. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences reviews all students at the end of both the fall and spring semester and summer term to determine their academic standing. Students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences must maintain a 2.0 cumulative KU GPA in order to be in good academic standing. This probation tries to decrease recidivism, but the probation officer does hold the malefactor accountable for their crime(s). The probation also tries to lower the cost of protecting the community while utilizing a cost effectiveness and getting the offender treatment.
The basic duties of a probation officer is to meet with the offenders they have been assigned to anywhere from once a week to once a month, this will continue until the offender has reached the end of their probation. The court will make the recommendations that will allow the offender to be put on probation and will also make a ruling as to how often the offender will report.
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines Probation as a period of time given to someone who commits a crime and instead of being incarcerated are allowed to spend their sentence in the community based on conditions set aside by the courts. (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/probation) The task was given to me to build the ultimate model of Probation Services. After careful consideration and great thought this is the route I decided to take. I believe that parents play a great role in some of the decisions their children make. The decisions children make today are a reflection of their parents. My focus on this probation model is to place both child and parent in an institution were they would undergo a period of restoration of family values, rehabilitation, parenting courses, academia and counselling. The ages of these juveniles will range between the ages of ten (10) to seventeen (17) years old.Therefore I stand for institutionalized probation and how this probation will assist in instilling family values.
When it comes to criminal justice there are several other options to punish someone rather than incarceration, any of these options can be used in place of incarcerating someone based on the individual needs. Does the person who drinks habitually need to go to jail for their fifth DUI, or do they need alcoholism classes? At the same time sometimes incarceration is the only option. Incarceration is a very costly process, and leaves the person who is incarcerated “institutionalized” where all they know is the system, and do not know how to survive outside of it. It is all a cost versus benefit battle.
It is an accepted fact that there is variation in the criminal justice system. Some of this difference is due to natural discrepancy in the severity of charges levied against a defendant; obviously those with severer or more numerous charges might also receive a longer or harsher criminal sentence. However, when the criminal charges are held constant, there emerges a pattern of variation that cannot be explained simply by a difference in severity or quantity. Extralegal factors, defined as variables that are not supposed to impact a sentencing decision, include race and ethnicity, sex, and age, and research has consistently demonstrated that these factors do play a hand in criminal proceedings. Specifically, these extralegal factors may influence pretrial detainment, the type of punishment defendants are given (e.g., a period of probation versus a prison term), and may even contribute to biased use of the death sentence. Evidence has also been presented that suggest, through various compilations of data, that these extralegal factors are not equivalent, either. The United States justice system, while presumed to be built on assumptions of fairness and equality, does not treat its defendants as equally as we would like to believe.
As a senior, my past is full of things that I wish I had done differently. My past years in high school weren’t always the best, but they make me who I am today. Problems that I dealt with were that I had trouble keeping my grades and GPA up because, I was more focused on socializing and being a class clown than I was on my school work. Because I wanted to be a class clown it also caused a lot of behavioral issues. I ended up being kicked out of my ninth-grade math class because of it, damaging my GPA even more. Having behavioral issues is never a good thing it caused me to be suspended out of school, which are reflected poorly on my attendance. So, when I was in school, I was so far behind that it made it nearly impossible to catch up. I feel as if these were some of the worst decisions I could have made, because it’s made it so much harder for me going into my senior year.
Additionally, there are many steps that candidates must take in order to be hired at the Department of Juvenile Justice. The first step is to apply at https://jobs.myflorida.com/. Next, the candidate should send all necessary documentation to the Chief Probation Officer in the county they are applying for. If a candidate gets hired, he or she must go through specific training. This specific training requires the new hire to get CPR and get First Aid certification. In addition, the candidate must get PAR certified and complete the six week academy training seminar located in Tallahassee, Florida.
In the beginning of the semester, I thought it would be enjoyable to take Anatomy and Physiology since I had already taken it in high school and actually received a high grade. I had heard from many students that this class is much harder in college and will often have a big lecture setting with more than three-hundred students, but I brushed this off and went into the classroom with a positive attitude. I quickly learned that big lectures were not the classes that I would succeed in, instead I preferred a small classroom setting where I am able to ask questions whenever needed. Throughout the semester, I also learned that I prefer online classes when it comes to mathematics and social sciences because they can be self-taught and I found myself often uninterested during the
I did not fail any of my classes and instead received good grades for my perseverance. As an immigrant to a new country, my greatest barrier is English. Consequently, I had to go to tutoring and work three times more than native English speaking students. But despite the frustrations, I never allowed myself to give up. I never stopped striving for excellence. I worked very hard and took advantage of extra credit opportunities, even though I was already earning a good grade in the course. My short-term academic goals are graduating from Cosumnes River College in Spring 2019 with an Associate of Science degree. I plan to start my bachelor degree next fall at CSU, Sacramento and graduate in spring 2022.
