Through this letter, I would like to formally clarify my application and respectfully request your reconsideration of me as a candidate to UC Irvine. I understand the applicant pool for the Fall of 2017 has been greater than prior years and turning away qualifying students is a must in this case. Therefore, I would like to extend my gratitude for taking the time to read my appeal.
I have come to believe that my rejection is tied to my SAT score, and the lack of depth in my application essays, which I’m sure heavily influenced the final decision. Let me explain the circumstances behind it. In the summer of 2016, months before my submitted test score, my younger brother, Gaell, was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis - an inflammatory bowel disease. I then became responsible for his care. My mother, who is raising three children alone, remained in her position as a staff accountant in order to provide for us, I no longer had the freedom and flexibility to participate in additional extracurricular activities as for months my daily agenda revolved around school and caretaking. As a result, I focused on academic but lacked enough preparation for the SAT. I do not mean to make excuses, I understand the exam is a

This program, lead by Global Vision Christian School, calls for members like I to teach low-income elementary and middle school students English. This opportunity is a dream come true as it involves my passions into one: children, religion, and Korea. I hold your university with high regards for its nationally acclaimed programs, especially the Korean Language Program. Based on my research, UC Irvine is the only public UC school to offer students the opportunity of the Korean Literature and Culture major. Through the UCI program, I hope to learn the Korean culture and language to allow me to continue to pursue opportunities like GVCS and study abroad
I have attached my Howard University Freshman Scholarship (HUFS) appeal with this letter for your
My name is Kaha Salad and I am appealing my Satisfactory Academic Progress suspension. Autumn semester of 2013 was a difficult time for me, I was going through many different changes in my life and I just didn’t know how to adapt. I experienced a personal event in the summer of 2013 that made my life change forever. My Grandmother Khadija died, she was the light of my family’s lives. My mother was immensely affected by her death, she went into a state of depression and she then stopped working. I took it upon myself to help out my grieving mother and get a job to help pay with the bills that was piling up. I began working
From 2011 and onward, my family had fallen into bankruptcy for paying out of pocket for my older brother’s medical expenses and surgery costs due to his diagnosis of heart failure. In 2013, when I took the standardized ACT exam two times, I scored both times an 18 which was below my university’s 2014 entering freshmen class’s composite score average of 24.5 (copy of score report is attached). Furthermore, upon taking the LSAT two times with over four months of self-studying for the September exam, I scored first a 141, and a 140 on my last attempt. When taking both examinations, I have not been able to afford tutoring pertaining to the exams or a preparation course. Although I have worked numerous jobs during the past few years in college,
The thesis of Class Dismissed is about how the working class people on television are portrayed. Many people wanted to be part of a particular social class. The programs in the Class Dismissed changed people’s perception of certain groups. For example, The Jefferson’s , is about how a black man grows his business and become successful. From watching the film I never thought how TV shows frames us. Now, as I think back to watching certain shows like The Cosby show, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The George Lopez, The Hughley’s, My Wife and Kids, and The Bernie Mac Show they all are working class people who are successful. However, Good times, is another show that I have watched, although Good times the family are still living in the projects,
For example, two high school graduates from Cincinnati, Ohio of the class of 2017 scored a 1560 out of a 1600 on the SAT and the other scored a 35 out of 36 on the ACT, in addition, both of these students were National Merit Commended Finalists. Surprisingly, they were rejected from both Massachusetts Institute of Technology during Early Action and Northwestern University after being wait-listed. However, if you were to look the College Board’s website, BigFuture, you would find the ranges of SAT scores for Northwestern are between 1450-1570 and the ACT ranges are 32-34. The ranges of SAT scores for Massachusetts Institute of Technology are between 1500-1600 and the ACT ranges are 33-35. Another example of this phenomenon took place in Toledo, Ohio. Nathan Card a graduate of the 2017 class of Ottawa Hills, received a 35 ACT, but was rejected by schools such as Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Dartmouth, and Cornell. All of these students met or exceed the requirements for both of these schools yet they were somehow reject even with High test scores. These are not the only students that have come across this issue, countless students across this Nation have experienced these similar issues.
I am writing this appeal letter, because I have received a letter saying that I am eligible to attend the University of Wisconsin La Crosse anymore due to my academic standing. I wish, and hope that you may reconsider. I have been attending this college for two years now, hoping to go on my third. And I would love to say that I enjoy this community very much and that I wish to stay. I wish to grow better as a student and as a member of the college community. Here in this college I am currently a leader of InterVarsity, a Christian organization on campus, and have been active in HOPE, a Hmong organization on campus. Although I have been active within the college community and have been success at it, I have failed towards being a student.

The practice of using animals for testing has been a controversial issue over the past thirty years. Animal testing is a morally debated practice. The question is whether animal testing is morally right or wrong. This paper will present both sides of this issue as well as my own opinion.
