The semester has changed the way people, including myself, saw their majors in a way I did not expect. Mostly, I noticed that a lot of people who started this semester really confident about what to expect were really surprised and slacked off later in the semester than those who came in with an open mind. Earlier in the semester, I really had been doubting my choice of architecture as a major. I had especially been feeling constricted as a lot of the things I am also interested in have little to do with architecture. Furthermore, though I still believe I may not be able to pursue other things in life without paying thousands of dollars and spending all of my life in school and/or in debt, I am predominantly afraid that architecture is so …show more content…
This change affected the later part of the semester in that seeing beautiful architecture like we did for the precedent study has shown me how all this works together for my goals. I was really surprised by how much simply seeing and examining buildings like the Lincoln Memorial can change one's perspective. Ultimately, I am pleased with this change in seeing things. Essentially, I enjoyed this UNIV100 course, especially due to the diversity of course materials and methods. I mean this in that one day we would be learning about the different campus resources, another day about architecture as a profession, and the next about different buildings and architectural styles. Learning would not always be in the same classroom setting which I really enjoyed- like the classes we had in library and WaterShed. Fundamentally, the course assisted my understanding of architecture as a profession more than that of the architecture school itself. It taught me what is necessary for the profession other than working in a studio for hours- which is the stereotype- such as lots of presentations (such as the jury presentations we sat in for), interviews (the interview assignment), and visiting tons of buildings (as in the precedent study assignment). The course was also helpful as it taught about what to expect in the architecture school such as studio, future coursework, and resources.
Summer term 2016 was the very first time I was considered a college student who attended Florida International University or any university for that matter. I was nervous, intimidated by the drastic changes that were about to occur in my life. As a first semester freshman I did not know what the college life held for me and did not want to. I was closed off from my surroundings and felt comfortable going from home to school and back home. It was convenient not having to be involved in all of these extracurricular activities and clubs. I would always have more than enough time to excel in my studies as I breezed through the semester with exceptional
I’ve always appreciated art but after taking this class I see it so differently & carry much more knowledge. I hope to revisit Italy some day so I can look at its art & architecture in a new way than I had previously. I guarantee it would be a whole different experience than
The view of nursing is now more in depth and well rounded than before attending this class. Also, I now have a better understanding that scientific knowledge has a huge impact on nursing. Before taking these specific classes this semester I did not realize how much of a role science played in the nursing career. This quarter has really shown me that a nurse is not a "task monkey." The most surprising thing that I learned this semester was the abundance of knowledge that a nurse has to have in variety of areas such as assessment, legal, risk prevention, and educator just to name a few. As I make my journey through nursing school to expert nurse, I will always remember my instructors and dean continuously repeating that I must choose
Reflecting back on the all the information learned this semester, I am amazed at how much I learned. Working in healthcare makes you aware of a lot of the topics that were covered, however, when you apply it to yourself, in a personal relationship, it becomes much more powerful what the impact of each topic is.
Over the recent four months in Communication 1402 class, I have addressed three formal speechs and completed a number of chapters in the corresponding textbook “Communication Works”. This course of Communication aims to provide general information what public speaking is and how to address a public speaking. Recalling back the experience during the processes of completing the Speech to Imform, Speech to Persuade, and Group Presentation, I will draw a conclusion about this course and these three presentations in five aspects, comprising my previous perception of public speaking before this course; learning from the Speech to Inform; the goal and evaluation of Speech to Persuade; learning from the Group Presentation; the most important thing learned from this course.
I believe that this is the correct program for me and I hope that this program will help me foster and develop my creative talents further and become the person I want to be, an architect that leaves an impact on the world. I realize now the power that architecture has and the role it plays in shaping lives as I have seen it shape mine through studying it, and so now I would like to continue my education, so that I can take the necessary steps forward to fulfilling what I want to do in my architectural
With my understanding of American Romanticism, transcendentalism and dark romantics, I have been more aware of my surroundings, the people I surround myself with, and just every little detail in my life. In this unit, I have to say the class discussions that we had were my favorite because it was interesting to hear what my classmates believe and what they stand for.
This career is also incredibly rewarding because you get to see and experience your work. You can see its progress and how it looks once it is finished and then even after that you can still experience it and see how other people react to your building or the place that you have designed. Only after seeing how other people interact with your building will you know if it is a success or not which is like no other profession. Lots of professions are very instantaneous, did you save someone, did you teach properly or have you added correctly but architecture is something that lives on even after you are gone. It is something that can immortalise a person which is incredibly poetic.
When I first started the semester, I had absolute no Idea of what major I wanted to do. Now after taking this course I have been able to narrow it down to 2 majors that I am interested in taking. I had no idea that there was even a sports administration major. If the class never brought in the sports administration presenter I would have never known about the major. In this course I have learned more about my transferable skills, personality type, academic interests, personal values, skills and strengths.
Overall, this has been one of my favorite classes in that I can work at my own pace, make my own deadlines (besides the due dates), and communicate with others in ways I had never done before. I am more of a hands on, face to face, confrontation kind of student,
Throughout this semester I have learned a lot and has changed the way I view things. It has opened my eyes about all the inequality, discrimination and troubles in the world. I’ve enjoyed taking the time learning about how to expand my critical thinking. Before signing up for this class, my views on the world were very broad. I knew there were plenty of issues in the world but with the readings in the books, documentaries and clips it has made me see the issues in a very detailed way.
If I continue on with schooling it’ll be easier for me to remember what it is I learned, since there wouldn’t be a long break in between. I will continue as it will “...require completion of a 5-year Bachelor of Architecture program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)” (Study.com). I am already doing work for school, so I might as well continue on while everything is still fresh in my mind. The earlier I start studying for the Bachelor of Architecture program, the earlier I can get it finished and start working on the career
In terms of Personal Development I feel that the course has helped me to develop the skills I need to improve my grades, and to build my confidence.
Over the course of the semester, I have learned a few things about myself. I have learned that I can be independent, I always knew myself as someone who could do mostly everything on their own. This semester really made me realize how independent I could actually be. Not only have I learned how independent I am I have also realized the importance of time management. With not having a strict class schedule it was a lot different than what I was originally used to. After a few weeks, I learned ways that would work best for me, for example writing down that I needed to get done. I learned that I need to focus on what 's ahead of me to accomplish what I want to succeed in, to manage what needs to be done ahead of time to stay caught up.
Architectural engineering is a challenging yet rewarding career. Architectural engineers design buildings that not only look appealing, but also suit the needs of people and ensure the safety of those people that occupy them. The four to five years spent getting an architectural engineering degree is well worth it because it opens up opportunities. The opportunities are endless in the field of architectural engineering.
