Life’s too short to walk around angry, so be happy and sing it out loud. The movie Trolls was recently released in 2016 and tells a story about how trolls try to survive the annual trollstice and escape from the bergans. Filmmakers use the theme happiness and how happiness comes from within, not from material things or outward circumstances. Filmmakers used sound in many different ways to portray the theme of happiness and tell the story of the trolls joyous lives.
The first prime example of sound being used in Trolls was when Poppy and the trolls threw a party because they thought they were free from the bergens. Branch was totally against the idea of a party and was upset that the other trolls wanted to follow through with it. They threw the party and shortly into it, one of the head bergens heard them, showed up, snatched a few bergans and took them to bergen town. The type of sound used in the scene where the party took place is called synchronized sound. This scene showed synchronized sound because all the trolls were singing together at the party. This element was effective because the trolls singing together showed that they were happy and having a good time all gathered together not worrying about the bergens at all. …show more content…

She accomplished this sound element called a sound effect by beating on a bell with a paddle to signal to the trolls that they were to start singing and dancing on the third strike of the bell. A sound effect is a sound that is added in order to provide realism to the picture. Poppy beating on the bell was a great example of this when the trolls were celebrating after Poppy and Branch saved their kidnaped friends and they all rejoiced once they were back together again.
