Feral Cats in San Francisco Bay There was an unforgettable experience with a cat on the stress. After I got off the bus and toward my aunt’s house, a cat came up to me. It was the first time happen to me that a cat was very affectionate to me. And it persistently rubbed against my legs. I was a little scared, and I did not know what to do because it looked different from the common cats that I saw. I stood a while and looked at the cat. A few minutes later, I continued walked toward my aunt’s house, and I saw the cat followed me for a block. After that, I knew this behavior was one of the symptoms of estrus, and I thought if that cat was a feral cat, how it lived. Cats are adorable animals, and they are one of my favorite pets. However, not …show more content…
Actually, feral cats come from the same species from all the domestic cats. They are furry and carnivorous mammal. In Wikipedia, it describes cats in anatomy have “a strong flexible body, quick reflexes, sharp retractable claws, and teeth adapted to killing small prey” (“Cat”, par. 2.). Moreover, they likely active at night because they usually sleep during the day and they have very good night vision that can see at only one-sixth the light level required for human vision according to Wikipedia. However, feral cats are different from pet cats and stray cats because they don’t have much socialize with humans. Many feral cats are offsprings of the abandoned pet cats. The abandoned pet cats, such as stray cats, leave from home and live in the field. Once stray cats give birth kittens outdoor, those kittens become feral cats. As they grow up into adults without human feeding, it is hard for them to contact with humans or become pet cats because Alley Cat Allies organization explains feral cats who seldom or never “contact with humans have diminished over time”, they are afraid of humans and used to live outdoor by themselves (Alley Cat Allies, sec.2). Feral cats always stay in tense for protecting themselves and avoid interaction with strangers, so they cannot easily get closer or be
For many cat owners, their cat’s impulse to scratch can become a disastrous problem. Cat owners believe that the only logical solution is to have the cat declawed. It’s natural for cats to scratch and use their our claws to live their daily lives. Cats use their claws to play, climb, and in many situations as a form of self-defense. So the question that presents itself, is it really necessary for cat owners to have cats declawed. The only problem with declawing cats is that it is unnecessary and inhumane mutilation. Many cat owners should be more aware take advantage of the other safer and more humane alternatives for their cats.
A few of the misconceptions that people have of feral children stem from Disney’s romanticization of these movies. The films are praised for their fun and uplifting stories, the tales of boys who were raised by animals and eventually rejoined society, because they find the love of their lives. Although these are children movies and should not be taken as academic, most individuals are not well informed about feral children, so they tend to use Disney’s portrayal of feral children and try to apply it to reality. Within these classic childhood movies lies a traumatic reality for some children that are inaccurately represented, such as; In The Jungle Book, wolves raised Mogli, but he socializes with multiple species in the jungle. Wolves are pack animals they stick together, they may have slight interaction with other animals, but surely they would not leave their home for them. He was able to walk bipedally while only occasionally walking on all fours, this has never been true in an animal reared feral child. Animal reared children adopt the motor skills that their caregiver has shown them, so in Mogli’s case he should have solely walked quadrupedally. The last inaccurate representation is the idea that Mogli could form a romantic attachment to a human girl, because he was raised in the wild he has had no interaction with humans, he was not socialized
In the mornings, my cat often takes up a post on my chest. His presence is heralded by a chirpy meow and four quarter-sized points of pressure where his feet make contact; as he relaxes, he settles into a loud, rhythmic purr, and the pressure of his 16 pounds is more evenly distributed across my ventral torso. If I'm slow to open my eyes, he reaches out a paw and gently pricks my face with his claws ‹ enough to make an impression but not do real damage. When I do open my eyes, I see the triangles of his ears, the dense, velvety blackness of his fur and the sheen of his nose; his yellow irises are thin rings around his dilated pupils in the dim, early light.
Although cats and dogs are both animals they are different in many ways from, showing love, grooming, vaccinations, food, and vet care. To me dogs are more loveable than cats. However, cats are cheaper when it comes to grooming, vaccinations, and food. Owners treat and take care of their dogs better than their cats. I have always been more of a dog person even though they are expensive.
Animal spirits are a product of irrational behavior and are a major driving force in the economy. Intuitive then is the notion that animal spirits are also heavily involved in the process of economic boom and bust cycles. This much is straightforward and in reality seems to be the case. Animal spirits, which were initially defined by John Maynard Keynes, characterizes a variety of exogenous variables that could not be accounted for in the mainstream rational economic theories of the time. This definition was later reclassified by Akerlof and Shiller in their title book and provided some of the mechanics behind seemingly irrational behaviors. Akerlof and Shiller described and highlighted five specific features of animal spirits that affect the

Hello United Nations! I am going to start off by telling you a little bit about us and our organization. We are the Organization for African Endangered Animals. We are a private agency in Africa who protect the welfare of endangered animals. We are the voice of the animals. They cannot speak for themselves so we speak for them. We do our best to protect our animals but we have limited sources and funding. Our focus right now is one of the most endangered species in the world, the Dama Gazelle.
Cats are natural born hunters. A 2013 study revealed that each year, domestic cats kill 20.7 billion smaller animals, including mice, chipmunks, voles and 3.7 billion birds. Cats are actually the number one killer of these animals. Cats spend one-third of their day just killing animals, and they don’t even do it because they’re hungry. They do it because they feel like it.
In the Wikipedia the definition of a feral child is a human being that was raised in an isolated environment away from human interaction from an early age, and has no familiarity of human behavior, human care and human language. Feral children are completely different from other children. They were born and raised in a different environment. The guardians the feral children had were abusive and unloving towards them. The pain and abandonment they felt is something no one should ever go through, especially young innocent children. These feral children don’t have the opportunity to learn the basic stuff like other children do. The first years growing up as a child have a huge impact on our development like learning some language skills, eating
Pets are a common sight in many households today. In fact, according to the APPMA National Pet Owners Survey, 63 percent of U.S. households own a pet. At the top of this percentage are dogs and cats. One of the most important decisions an owner of a dog or cat has to make is whether or not to get them spayed or neutered. There are various reasons why people choose to not have this done, but all those reasons can be proven invalid. Many factors come in to play as why this is such an important thing to do. The effects of dogs and cats not being spayed or neutered has become such a major issue that it should be a law that all pet owners have to get their pet spayed or neutered.
All this contact will to begin to stimulate the infant brain to develop. Parents who are present their child’s life will give them the basic needs in life to be successful. Without the stimulation of the child’s brain will affect them in severe ways. This will cause feral children to lack basic social skills to socialize. The child’s behavior will be out of control because they were never taught any normal human behaviors in society. This cause them to act like wild animals. The behaviors are described as challenging, disruptive, and violent. This happens because they do not understand how to act like a human but more like the animal that brought them up. Those actions are probably their normal behavior. Just like any young child, feral children will imitate anything they see or attach to someone who they feel safe with. Feral children will observe any contact and begin to reenact it. That’s why feral children will copy whatever animal they are being raised by. This will cause them to not be able to walk on their two legs. Children will have more animal qualities than human. These behaviors could be running on all fours, hunting for food, exceptional hearing (10 Modern 2017, p. 3). A good example of a feral child is Oxana Malaya, and she was brought up by dogs for six years. She normal behavior was more like a dog because she would get on all four legs and begin to act like a real dog. It was common to see her pant with her tongue out, bared her teeth, and barked (Feral Children, 2017,
Throughout this school year, every student has been challenged in one way or another in every assignment that they received. In the three artifacts chosen for this reflection, Rikki Tikki Tavi for the informative portion, the argumentative essay Animal Cruelty in Relation to Human Entertainment, and the narrative piece, The Affect of Athena on Athens, one can see the improvement of the project and not only the challenges that I faced, but also my achievements.
Every year millions of animals are abused and/or inhumanely killed; but most cases are never reported. Creating stricter penalties for animal cruelty and making the community more aware of this horrific crime will prevent more animals from falling victim to this.
It is difficult to believe how some humans are capable of inflicting pain to animals just to satisfy their lowest instincts or for money. The way people treat animals all over the world may defers from one place to another, but in general more people are standing up for animal rights in hopes that one day animal cruelty will be no more. However, this is not a perfect world, and animals, domesticated and wild, are abuse and beaten every single day. For example, dog fighting which is described as “The act of baiting two dogs against one another for entertainment or gain” (Yilmaz, Coskun, and Ertugrul). It is just a horrific and devastating experience that no dog should ever have to go through, “animals have been and continued to
To every pet owner, how would it feel if your pet spent the rest of their life in a cage, while another living being applies different chemicals over and over again to see if it causes any reaction? This is what any mice, rabbit, frog, dogs have to deal with every day in order to provide humans with new medicine and products. Animal testing has been occurring for decades in order to help out medicine and the beauty industry. Many scientists have accepted the fact that animal testing can be an essential contribution to discovering new medicine. Unfortunately, animals are being used for experiments on a daily basis and being exploited for consumerism. Animal testing should not be allowed and there should be stricter laws against it or find other methods to do experiments.
